Restaurante El Lagar

Good food - local vibes.
First day in Madrid I walked around my hotel looking for a quick lunch, and took a chance walking to this place. I don't speak any Spanish, but I manage to order meatball and lemon beer. It was so delicious! The food portion is perfect. Making you full, with some room for desert.

the shop owner and the chef lady all are nice, they served me well and gave me a warm hospitality.
the tapas are delicious and the lemon beer is wonderful.
I feel so grateful to come across El Lagar on the first day of my journey in Madrid.

A small place at the back of a bar, but some of the best tapas we have tried in the area. Complimentary potatoes too, but the steak was a real beautiful dish. Everything was fresh. You know its a local favourite when it has poker players at the back.

Amazing place. The only real tapas bar we found. Great food brought when you order a drink. The owner was the nicest man. Just great and a bastion of proper tapas. Long may it live, even if he is a Real Madrid fan.

This is a popular neighborhood bar. The menu may feel more foreign than usual because it is the locals spot. This is real Spanish tortilla. Real Spaniards. The men behind the bar were nothing but wonderful to me - a woman traveling alone looking for a local experience.

Your local neighborhood bar with decent prices and a warm atmosphere. The service is extremely friendly and ready to serve. I come to this bar to watch a nice football game in peace. More so just to relax than for the taste of the food. Alas, that is why this place only deserves a four star rating at best. While the tapas come in hearty quantities, it is the lack of "sabor" that ruins the experience. Along with that, the television for the football is remnant of the early 2000s. So Riri, why the four stars? Atmosphere, atmosphere, atmosphere. These type of bars are what you for find anywhere but in Spain. The treatment is excellent and you do not leave a dent in your wallet. Come with your "compis" to enjoy life and live in the moment. I'll update my review once I eat off of the menu. Until then. ¡Aproveche!

Glad we found this small place. Sat at the small bar and had amazing albóndigas, ensalada campesina and vino tinto. This was one of my favorites in Madrid. The albóndigas reminded me of mi tia Lichas cooking and she can rock a kitchen.

Good tapas and beer!

A friendly neighborhood bar with nice bartenders and a tasty menu del día (avg. €10). Bar and sit-down options for eating in. With lunch, try the Tarta de Santiago (almond cake)! Muy rico, gracias!
