The world's oldest restaurant was a must visit on our trip to Madrid, this time. It surely did not disappoint us. The house wines are smooth and lovely. We had their specialty ' the roast lamb' which was one of the best lamb I've had so far. Extremely tender and full of flavour. Their fish mains were equally good too. I loved their garlic soup as well, it was a nice comforting soup on a cold winter afternoon. We couldn't find a slot to reserve a table on their website, so we arrived a couple of minutes before the restaurant opened and we were welcomed in and offered a table.

One of the best meals I have ever eaten (and I have eaten many good meals at fine stablishments). You cannot find better pork than in Spain, and arguably, roasted suckling pig than at Botin. The atmosphere is perfect, the service excellent. Highly recommend to all who are considering. Book early to ensure you nail a reservation!

Historic restaurant. The food was very good and reasonable priced considering the history and popularity of this place. We had the suckling pig and lamb, which is the reason for coming here. Service was very good and quick. Our servers were very kind and courteous. Definitely make reservations in advance. The place was fully booked.

If you can't make a reservation try booking a tour with insiders travel, I contacted them only after I landed in Madrid and was able to get a slot 3 days later (although I might have been lucky). It's the only one I saw that included an actual meal there and the tour was really good, happy to do it even if it wasn't my original plan. Lol.

That said, the food is good but almost nothing was great but you're not here for just that or what I liked right? You want the experience and the experience is very good. However, you may have caught my "almost" above... There was one thing we were surprised to find was life-changing: the cheesecake. I'm not normally a huge fan but my wife is and we both agreed it was hands-down the best we'd ever had by a good margin. Get it, even if you're full.

Book your reservations in advance! We arrived as scheduled and was seated right away. Try the pig and enjoy a dessert. This is a great place for a big family dinner or a romantic dinner for two. The wine and sangria was good. The bill came to $125 for two people. Pricey but you pay for the atmosphere too. Check out the wine cellar in the basement and the kitchen before you leave. Staff was warm and welcoming.

The food is delicious. The service excellent. This place is not so sophisticated, but for me personally is more important that is historical place and the owners have tried to keep the traditional cuisine. Reasonable pricing for such place. Must visit!

We were so happy to have a slot on this historical restaurant. We ordered their specialty the roast pig and it was perfect and crunchy. The staff were very quick and accommodating. The ambiance of the place was homey and it will make you feel nostalgic knowing that this place was operating since 1725. The price was reasonable given the amount and the large portions of their food. Best of Madrid and the world!

Visiting Botín, the world's oldest restaurant in Madrid, was an absolute must for us, and it set the perfect tone for our trip. Our first meal here was nothing short of amazing!

We tried pork, chicken, beef, mushrooms, and desserts – everything was delicious! The house red wine was perfect with our meal. The staff was super helpful, suggesting dishes and making sure we had a great time.

It was a delightful experience that made our trip to Madrid even more special. If you're in the city, don't miss out on this fantastic restaurant! Just remember to make a reservation through their website and confirm it before you go – it's easy to do and ensures you won't miss out on this culinary gem! We noticed many walk-in guests getting turned away, so a reservation is definitely a smart move!

Top place to go when you are in Madrid! You need to make the reservation in advance as this is a very popular place. The card was not too big. The internal design is super cool! I fell in love! Atmosphere was amazing and the food… not only served in a nice way but was so delicious!

The atmosphere was comfortable and relaxing. We didn't feel rushed at all. The sangria is amazing!! I had the suckling pig, which is their specialty, and my friend had the filet Mignon de Botin and both were absolutely delicious. I don't think you could go wrong with anything on the menu. So happy to have had this experience.

We checked out this restaurant as it’s been around for a long time (since 1725) and we were not disappointed. The appetizers were good and the star of the meal was the roast suckling pig. We ordered 3 portions or half of the pig. It was cooked to perfection. The skin was crispy and the meat was with just the right amount of fat to make it so tender and tasty. The service was also top notch. Highly recommend this restaurant as a must eat place when you visit Madrid!

An amazing place in Madrid!
We had lunch here and it was delicious! The staff was friendly and making jokes while answering questions we had about the menu.

The building itself is fascinating and we could visit the cellar after our meal.

Seriously amazing to be eating in a restaurant founded in 1725. We made a reservation a few weeks in advance. Ordered the roast suckling pig, roast lamb, prawns, and mascarpone cheese and mango dessert. The food was pretty good, but the experience was something else altogether.

The supposed oldest restaurant in the world will certainly attract visitors from all over, but this is hardly a tourist trap. The restaurant is cozy and charming in an old-school manner, service is excellent, and the food, while not otherworldly, did not disappoint. Loved the roast suckling pig, and the melon with jamon was a breath of fresh air. Great experience, and worthy of a stop when in Madrid.

It was convenient to make reservations online and very organized, all waiters are professional. Cochinillo is good, the lunch set menu is over €50 a little bit overpriced with not many options.
Also be aware of the stairs, after drinks and step down stairs was a little bit dangerous.

Botin in Madrid is an absolute must for anyone visiting the city. Stepping into this historic establishment feels like a journey back in time, as it proudly holds the title of the oldest restaurant in the world.

We were treated to their renowned roast suckling pig, paired perfectly with a delightful bottle of wine. The service was top-notch, and we wholeheartedly recommend making a stop here during your time in Madrid.

Last day of the year we ticked off a foodie bucket list item. Late lunch at Sobrino de Botín, the oldest restaurant in the world still in operation, since 1725. The cellar of the restaurant has existed since 1590. The restaurant is famous for its roast suckling pig and roast lamb. As soon as we knew we were coming to Madrid this was on my “must do” list and I pre-booked months ago. The best seating is in the cellar, which I requested on the booking and luckily my wish was granted. The restaurant did not disappoint in any way, the atmosphere in the cellar is amazing, total architectural eye candy with exposed 16th century brick work everywhere. The food and table service was wonderful. Sharon had the pork, Emma and I had the lamb. Don’t think we will need to eat for a few days now.

Botin is the western world's oldest, continuously operating restaurant. The food, the ambiance, service, history.. all combine into a great dining experience where Ernest Hemingway himself once held court. Roast pig is the house specialty and worth it! Lamb is another wise choice. Reservations are a must and expect to spend up to 80 euros per person for a multi-course meal plus wine. Well worth it. SMART HINT: plan your visit via "insider travel" (online) and sign up for a behind-the-scene tour of Botin before the open for dinner. You get to go where public cannot, PLUS first to be seated for dinner at 8 pm

This place is worth the trip. May seem like a tourist trap but it’s definitely worth it. So much history in this ancient restaurant. Suckling pig was delicious. Super crunchy skin. Also got the lamb and veal which are a must. We also got to take pictures in the wine cellar with the dusty wine bottles. Even the bloody Maria that I got was good. Would definitely go again.
