Cava Baja 17

Popped in here for some drinks and tapas. Staff were very friendly, food was great, you must try the tortilla it’s delicious. One of our group passed out from heat exhaustion and the staff were fantastic, very quick to react and call and ambulance. Great atmosphere and worth going to!

This is what a mix of cultures is about. In my opinion, Madrid is a huge pot of people all around Europe. Food is amazing in this Cervecería but, even better is the Service. We had the pleasure to meet some of the staff and they all treated our family as their family. We ordered Gambas al ajillo, Flores de alcachofa con jamón, champiñones con jamón and berenjenas crujientes con miel.
With so many options in Madrid Cava Baja 17 is a must go to enjoy great food and amazing hospitality.

The waiter does effort to speak some Ukrainian words, which he has been learnt from Ukrainians who works there 🇺🇦🇪🇸❤

This was my first stop after having just arrived. There are enough options for a vegetarian. The service is amazing. I got a taste of the riojas before deciding which wasn't the best choice because the two tastes are equivalent to a pour in California:) The prices are very reasonable.
I was dining alone and found myself a seat at the bar.

We went two times. Waiters really very friendly and enjoyed. Patata brava and padron peppers so good 🤤

This place is always the best every time I go! Ideal for a Sunday outing. Delicious tapas!!! Get the steak and fries!

Great food and vino de verano. Very cool and spacious. Friendly staff, they managed to fit us. Fair prices.

Saw this place after I left the restaurant next door the night before. Much better atmosphere and quality of food than Taberna Tita Pepa and very impressive staff behind the bar.

Ordered a couple of vermouths which were far better than Taberna Tita Pepa's and when I attempted to order the fried eggplant he suggested that I only order a half as it was designed to be shared. This was very true as the four large slices were very filling. The total cost was half of the night before and a much better meal.

Excellent restaurant with tasty food and friendly service. Thanks to the waiter who brought us the English menu after watching us struggling with the Spanish 😁 Highly recommend the house salad, because it's delicious and sufficient to share. The half portions were big enough for my wife and I. The house red was great.

I can not rate this restaurant highly enough. The tapas and sagria we had was absolutely amazing. We had the cheese platter. Mixed croquettes(the ox tail one is different but still gooood). The grilled vegetables was spot on. The blood sausages were amazing. To list a few dishes but the main thing was the cozy atmosphere and helpful stuff who helped us English speakers through the menu.

We knew this street had many restos and randomly went into this one. The (I assume is) owner was so friendly and explained each dish I had question for.

We ordered a salad and shrimp and a cod fish dish. They were all very good. I saw the next table having a veal toast with cheese and I asked to order 1. The owner said there need to be minimum 4 order for the toast tapas but we were quite full already so I said it was ok.
But then he said he can see what he can do for me and end up lettong is order just 1 pc! He's too nice. For food and service I recommend this place.

Great place for a quick drink. Lively atmosphere, good beer and we tried some sort of crispy pork belly (didn’t see it on the menu, it just looked good at someone else’s table). Would definitely go back again.

A nice busy restaurant. We were lucky to get a table in this popular place. We sat by the bar, and the barman instantly made sure to get us drinks. For the food, we had to wait longer, but that was definitely worth it. We took the gambas in ajoli and the patatas ajoli, both dishes were absolutely amazing.

AMAZING SPOT!!! Don’t think twice, come here if you are in Madrid. Order the “Alcachofa con jamón” and the “Entrecot con Papas”. And the “Ibérico” as good as it gets. If you are lucky enough, Tatiana will be your server .. she is GREAT! Thx!!

Lovely food but even better service. Our waiter, Eugenie, was so at attentive and accommodating, I hope he gets the recognition he deserves !

A staple of its neighbourhood in Spanish cuisine, Cava Baja has a fantastic menu offering all sorts of traditional foods found in Madrid, mostly finger food and tapas, and great drinking options ranging from Spanish beers to wines, with summer classics like Sangria.

I recommend no matter how hungry you are; don't be tricked by the amount of tapas on the menu in thinking it won't fill your stomach, the plates are plentiful and the food is of great quality.

I have to remove 1 star from the atmosphere because of the chairs options. Although they fit with the decor, only high stools are available and that removes from the comfort of sitting in this establishment, and it's limiting for anyone with a physical handicap preventing them from sitting on such chairs. I think adding different seating options would make this one of my favorite experiences in Madrid.

I’ve lived in Spain for over a year and also travelled a lot, but these have been by far the best albondigas I’ve ever had! Also the berenjenas were super delicious. Great service, great area and nicely decorated. My new favorite place in Madrid!!
