St. Maria Gate

St Maria’s gate is an entry into the old city. It is very picturesque. Definitely worth a visit

Really nice area with medieval walls, beautiful little streets, old gates and towers. Definitely worth a visit if you’re coming to Hondarribia or if you’re driving by.

Mandatory so to take a photo and walk into! It's a medieval beautiful street! And nice Barroca stile church to visit and take pictures!

Short 15 min walk from airport - good option for when there is a flight delay to stretch legs, pass some time and get fresh air. Very interesting to see. Beautiful street

What of the most beautiful beautiful medieval town that I have seen. Such a spiritual site. Carlos V cafeteria is a remarkable place with flags of old kingdoms hanged on the ceiling. Wonderful!!

Love the old town here it's full of charm and character and this is no exception a must visit whilst walking around soaking up the historic atmosphere

It's a must visit place and is border of Spain and on the other side u can see and travel in ferry to France
And the history behind is
The Santa Maria Gate is one of the oldest gates to enter the city, protected on the right by the Santa Maria Cubes. Cannon holes open on the sides. The gate is a lowered arched vault over which a large city shield dating from 19694 enters. At the top is Virginia, accompanied by two angels. XIX. the head is a neoclassical 19th century clock with a sundial. It still preserves the roots of the door today. Inside is a small niche, empty today. The shield was relocated in 1879 from the Capuchin convent.

Hondarribia or Fuenterabia according to the language you speak, Euskera or Spanish is one of the most beautiful towns in Euskadi. Is a little port town with an amazing atmosphere of very nice people around. It has an old wall protected part that you can access walking, by elevator or by motorcycle as far as I was able to see. I wouldn't recommend to eat at the top plaza in front of 'hotel el emperador & san nicolas' since there are better options when you go through this amazing path including 'Puerta de Santa Marta' to a nice walking boulevard full of beautiful nice restaurants and life.
