Museo del Pan Gallego

I got a Calamari sandwich from another place but I knew that wasn't going to be as satisfying for me because I am not a huge calamari guy so I saw a place with pastries in their glass counters. This place was called Museo del Pan Gallego. Looking for a savory snack I saw they had the Spanish Empanadas. The one I ordered was the Tuna but they also had egg, meat and a couple other options. The only interesting thing was there was no lights on lol. I took my order to go and enjoyed it in front of the Royal Palace.

Empanada is spot on just like the way we make it at home. Lovely little spot frequented by the older locals. Go here every time we are in Madrid. It's not the cheapest bakery- but love the atmosphere and they deserve to make a living!

The tarta de Santiago wasn't my fave. Too much lemon and it tasted like magdelenas. But the empanada de atun was delish.

Though the barra was nice (1.15,) go for the 2.50 loaf. Worth it. Soooo much better!

During our stay in Madrid we had an opportunity to visit this bakery. After the struggles of conversing with laughter we ordered chocolate filled croissants. Absolutely wonderful!! If you have the opportunity go here.

Oh how I miss this shop's pan! Wish I had had time to try every single one of their rustic creations. The staff too were very kind, even allowing me an "emergency" use of their private bathroom.

Great fire baked bread and amazing chorizo (best I've had in Spain!)

Fuimos mi padre y yo a comprar harina de maíz y acabamos comprando pan de trigo, un queso de tetilla, chorizo cebollera y un pan pequeño. Mi padre ha disfrutado del pan como hacía tiempo. Atención muy amable y en pleno centro de Madrid, que pena ser celiaca y no poder probar sus productos. Por cierto, los lunes no hacen empanadas. Volveremos

Situada en la plaza de Herradores muy cerca de la Plaza Mayor.

Es la panadería más antigua de Madrid, fundada en 1887 y así está reconocida por el ayuntamiento en la placa en el suelo.

Desde su fundación ha ido pasando por diferentes manos hasta que en 1986 abre el actual Museo del Pan Gallego.

Se utiliza horno de leña para su elaboración de manera totalmente artesana, amasándolo a mano. También realizan magdalenas, bizcochos, empanadas muy ricas y su famosa tarta de Santiago.

Hace unos años abrió varias sucursales pero han cerrado, espero que su local principal e histórico dure por lo menos otros 130 años.

Hoy hemos estado en esta panadería maravillosa, compramos empanada de pulpo exquisita y unas madalenas increíbles,yo siempre digo que cuando la fama te precede por algo es,su producto es ideal, y el trato no puede ser más encantador, por todo ello miles de gracias por su buen hacer.
PD:hay unos panes de toda la vida… maravillosos de lo rico que están.

Panadería con un buen surtido de diferentes panes y todos los que he probado con una calidad sobresaliente. El mezcla de centeno y trigo es el que más compro. Aguantan tiernos muy bien varios días. Y además tienen otros productos con muy buena pinta como empanadas, embutidos y dulces.

Hemos comprado una rústica y tanto el sabor como el olor es una maravilla. También un bollo preñao, riquísimo.
Volveremos seguro!!! Gran descubrimiento y precio muy asequible para la calidad de los productos.

Empanada de atún por encargo muy rica y con relleno abundante. Merece la pena calidad precio un 10
