Town Hall Square

A two city block area leading up to the city hall building. In wintertime there was a giant christmas tree, an ice skating rink, and multiple temporary shops and wintery displays set up in the plaza.

Town Hall is an amazing place, and the vibe is extraordinary. Lots of nice cafés and restaurants around. One can visit in the evenings to enjoy the surroundings.

Some upgradation work is going on as the city has been declared as the cultural capital of Europe, and there are 300+ events lined up in 2024. Town Hall Square is the centre of all tge events and activities.

Amazing center place. Has many activities during the year. It serves as a main passing point with a lot of restaurants, clubs and stores on the side streets. There is also a park and shopping center nearby.
It get busy on weekends/party days and it's a beautiful place overall

I loved it! Its pretty and very instragramable. Now with the Christmas market and snow, it looks like hollywood movie..there is a skating ring and several shops to enjoy

A two day stay is required here as it’s an enjoyable place. Lots of good restaurants to try delightful dishes. The square has lively colour to wonderful buildings.

The most beautiful Christmas Market in Estonia😍 Ice rink in winter time around the statue (free if you have your own skates otherwise you can rent for ca 3 euros), small glass cottages with different activities, snacks and drinks and a real fire. Created for locals but as tourists were very welcome, too 😊

Beautiful square in Tartu old town.

Beautiful! Lots of cafes, restaurants, and nice old buildings. Some might call it the heart of Tartu!

Beautiful town square with lots of events occurring during the summer. We were there during the film festival '22.
Plenty of places to eat and cheaper than in Tallinn. A few nice shops around the square too.

Beautiful square of a beautiful city! Tartu was really a pleasant surprise to me. Full of colourful, elegant buildings, I think it worths a stay of 2 days (or more) instead of a daytrip from Tallinn. There is a relaxed atmosphere and a cultural feeling in this university city.

Tartu has got to be one of my favorite locations to visit in Estonia. The weather this year seems to be rather hot and humid compared to previous visits. There are several shops to visit and eating establishments. The walking around helps to burn the calories. Pay attention to the ground as it is marked showing historical markers or ages past. Friendly people who live, work, and study in Tartu. I look forward to visiting once again.

Center of Tartu, in summer times nice place where to sit and enjoy good food from numerous caffeterias and pubs. Place with relaxing atmospehere! More fun during winters - usually we have a skate field around famous fountain Suudlevad tudengid (Kissing Students)

Charming, lively, lots of restaurants for every budget plus stores (including an alcohol shop and souvenirs) and the obligatory drunks. Close to everything, including the covered market, malls, bus station.
