Gunpowder Cellar of Tartu

Great atmosphere. We randomly got a concert night which was pleasant surprise. The waitress was absolutely wonderful! Keep up with her good work. The food was good (I've had only vegetarian dishes which were very good, especially the grilled dumplings). Plenty of beers to choose from. Highly recommend

A rating of 4,5/5, similar to what it is now, suits this location best. Amazing hall, feels spacious and comfortable, table layout is great, it only seems uneasy to spot when searching for the first time. Have not seen somebody really mention it, but the parking spots for cars are well-thought of : park your horse aka automobile between wooden beams like in medieval times.
Most importantly, food is great, national dishes are recommended and drink selection is decent!

Came here for a late lunch on a Friday, and it was quite quiet. The atmosphere was very idyllic and cosy, with good service.
The solyanka in the bread bowl was exquisite - wonderfully smoky and rich. However personally I don't think the bread added anything and I'd rather have the soup in normal bowl with black bread on the side.
I also had the mushroom pasta which was wonderfully creamy and pasta very nicely al dente. Finally I also tried the schnitzel with potatoes and sauerkraut, which was also very delicious - garlicy butter on a crispy schnitzel with herby and crunchy oven baked potatoes, and a nicely punchy sauerkraut.

We had dinner and it was an incredible experience.The service was very nice and the main course: pork ribs were delicious and the house beer too. Totally recommended! I attach some fotos to have an idea ;-)

Food was really good, I have not had such good food for a long time. Also service lady was very kind, professio Al and helpful. Totally recommended to visit while in Tartu.

I had the burger here and it was fantastic. Took a tad of a while to be served but it was worth the wait. A lady took my order and she was very pleasant and wanted to ensure the meal was good. It's got a unique ambiance. It's a must visit

The ambience is very nice, it is as the name suggests a cellar, so very unique in the decor. The foods are good, I tried the fish soup, it was very tasty. I would definitely suggest that. They also have a good collection of wines, starters and fancy dishes.

Really great place, delicious food, professional staff and a beautiful place with a great atmosphere. I would definitely recommened visiting this place when visiting Tartu.

Beautiful building, nice vibe, and good food. We had the house beer, fried rye appetizer, burger with parmesan garlic fries, and schnitzel. It was all good, but the schnitzel w/sauerkraut was great. The interior is beautiful, especially the arches. It’s tough to tell how beautiful the interior will be as you’re walking up, the arches are kind of hidden on the exterior. Really good pub

Great restaurant located inside an old Gunpowder store. The place is huge with very tall roof and it's all made with wood. There is even a stage inside so maybe they have some show going on.
The service was great and very friendly, we had a lovely dinner.
All the food we got was great, I definitely would like to go back there.😃

Atmosphere was wonderful, although, bacon sticks and onion soup was out of stock. The "Solyanka" was little plain but schnitzel was perfect. The live performance was amazing.

Very nice unique place. Schnitzel was good and so was the beer. Of course I had to take the "male pint" of one litre Püssirohukeller house beer, which was also very tasty. This combo costed 21 euros, so very reasonable price.

All in all a restaurant that is easy to recommend

We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves here. Neat location and history behind it. The food was great. A little pricey, but I guess that just goes with the package. Best of all, on the way out, we realized there was a kid's corner outside... priceless! We stayed a little longer afterward to let the kids play more.

Very nice and impressive place. In the assortment is beer produced locally. To leave a "memory" about you, you can write your name on a mug. That cost € 150. Highly recommend.

This place should be rated among the best pubs in the world. The setting is awesome. A historical cellar, great location.
