Cabañas del Lago

Beautiful panoramic views of the lake with excellent location. The views from the restaurant are delightful and the gardens are very nice and tidy. They keep all the places very well and they have very helpful people working at their place. All natives English speaking and very highly known of the places to go and visit nearby. Good quality service and excellent condition of the accommodation. It's a perfect place to go with your partner and spend an exquisite weekend. If you're expecting a breath taking sunset or an early morning enjoying breakfast just beside the lake this is an interesting place to do so.

Beautiful site and rooms. It's best to get a room in person better than going through a site. Got a much better deal that way. The room was stunning and extremely comfortable. The overall hotel site is beautiful as you are close to a lake. The food in the restaurant was also good and great price.

A gorgeous respite in imbabura / otavalo area. Food is fantastic although high end prices for ecuador. The restaurant area is right on the lake, there are cabins if you want a night accommodation but not essential, there is an area for children to play, little cars for children to use, a mini golf course, and excellent food choices. Wheelchair friendly, perfect for all the family. Very tranquil place perfect for a morning or afternoon out. Very pleasant experience- highly recommend.

Hands down the most spectacular cabins in the area!! We had Canaba 24. Best room, best view, inside the room is a fireplace, huge windows with million dollar views. The grounds are immaculate. Has a daycare center & putt-putt! Restaurant is wonderful, with wonderful staff & is on the water. Most tables have water view or are actually over the water. The meal was superb as well. Ate during a thunderstorm & a downpour.biyvwas magical. The room was cold(no heat!)& hard to maintain the fire due to semi-wet wood, but everything else is so awesome, you get past it.

Beautiful and quiet, perfect for a family weekend. Rooms are clean, and comfortable. Facilities are well maintained. Food is good and service is excellent. Downside: food and additional activities (stand up paddle, jet ski) are quite pricy, activities could be included in the lodging fees.

Best place to know San Pablo Lagoon. Delicious services and food. Bring swimsuit, prepare for water sports. Enjoy full day or stay for an awesome night.

This hotel is definitely a great spot to enjoy. There are animals roaming the grounds free. I really enjoyed playing and petting the goats. There’s also many rabbits that you can feed and play with which was very fun. There’s lots of stuff for children to do as well. They have mini golf as well as an entire children’s area with lots of activities. We really enjoyed the room it was very spacious and clean. The fireplace really set this place apart from other hotels. I would definitely recommend staying here. The location is rather remote, but worth the journey. The sights are beautiful. On one side is the volcano and the other is the lake.

My review only concerns the restaurant as I did not stay in the hotel. The setting is mesmerising with the full scale of the laguna in sight and the surrounding mountains clearly visible. The food was tasty and satisfying for the price. I definitely recommend coming here for lunch when visiting Otavalo. The taxi shouldn't cost more than 5-6 dollars from the centre and back.

What a beautiful and relaxing place. There's an excellent staff, a tasty restaurant on site, and many things to do if your decide to hang out on the grounds. It was a very romantic setting with incredible attention to detail. The gardens are amazing. The room was comfortable. They built a fire each night in our room and provided cool hot water bottles to go under the blankets at night, though we never found it particularly cold when we went in October.

But seriously, with Cerro Imbabura rising majestically on one side, and the tranquil waters of Lago San Pablo on the other, it's hard to ask for more. Just don't get too worried as you drive through a very common Ecuadorian neighborhood on the way there. You may think, "where am I going?" But once you arrive, you'll feel like you found a piece of heaven. I sure did!

The cabins were so nice perched on a beautiful lake with hummingbirds galore. At night, staff put warming bottles in your bed and lit your fire. Staff was amazing. Food amazing. Scenery breathtaking. There was an earthquake the day we visited and I still love it. Perfect.

Cabanas del Lago Hostería y Marina is truly a magical place. Seating right next to Lago San Pablo and surrounded by Mountains. We didn’t stay at the rooms since we were just passing by visiting some friends; but the restaurant view and experience, the friendly staff and amenities for kids to have fun are just waiting for you to explore. Next time we come to Ecuador we will definitively open our schedule to stay in San Pablo, at this hotel.

The cabin we stayed in was right on the lake, with a beautiful view! We arrived a little late so missed dinner which ended at 8pm, but were able to get a glass of wine. A massive fire was built for us in the fireplace, which was a great way to relax after a long travel day. The breakfast was delicious and included coffee and fresh juice (not included, but reasonably priced). We were disappointed we couldn't take the kayaks out, you can only enjoy the marine activities on the weekend. They did coordinate a ride from the airport for us for $60 with Freddy who was incredibly nice and also gave us rides around Otavalo the following day.

We had a great experience at Cabañas del Lago. The place is strategically located in between Lago San Pablo and the volcán Imbabura. It offers amazing views, it’s well maintained and the service was excellent. Reception was nice enough to get the room freshly cleaned and ready for us to check in a couple of hours early. They also, allowed us to bring our own wine for dinner and they lit up our chimenea while we were away (they do it at 7:30pm) even though we didn’t ask.
I saw a lot of comments about the food being pricey but being from
Ecuador and living in Canada I can say I disagree. A main dish costing around $12-$16 seems reasonable. I don’t know what people expect to pay at a high end place like this meant for tourists located in a tiny and poor town where everybody else seems to be underprivileged and very affected by the pandemic. The closest touristy town is Otavalo, which is about 20 mins away. Keep in mind, there are two ways to get there and the shortest one is a mostly unpaved road full rocks and holes. I recommend taking the longest route.

The view and the restaurant are worth to visit

Stayed in the Presidential cabana. I usually stay in the cheapest room. But this was well worth the few extra dollars. Fire in the room's fire place at night. Nice jacuzzi! Great views! The food was extraordinary! Views were unbelievable! The service was terrific! Highly recommend!!!

One of the best places I've stayed in Ecuador! Beautiful, cozy and clean ! The food is delicious especially the sea food plate. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. You can even do activities on the lake. The view from the place is amazing

Picturesque complex. Beautiful views of the lake. Employees dressed in native attire. A wood burning fireplace to keep one warm at night. Great children's playhouse. Lake side pier for the older kids.

It's a beautiful place with green spaces for walking, drinking a cup of coffee, eating delicious food. So, it's expensive the food in the restaurant, but there is good attention and excellent landscape to the lake

This spot is seriously heavenly and sits right on the lake! The restaurant on the property is excellent. It's a beautiful oasis away from the humdrum of the city.
