My husband, son and I stayed in a lovely villa on the property, very clean and amazingly bug-free for being in the cloud forest. I was traveling alone, and I am glad I booked this place. Beautiful place. The view is fantastic. The staff is excellent. I am a vegetarian, and they provided me with a great breakfast. I also had dinner and lunch there.  You would have to take a taxi from the town, but it is within walking distance of the hiking trail with seven waterfalls and a cable car, so it's worth staying here.

The terrace was the perfect place to enjoy the breakfast barefoot and watch the exotic birds with binoculars. No need to book the expensive bird watching yours.

My boyfriend and I stayed in the canopy room and it was incredibly beautiful. The hotel is in the middle of the forest about 10 minutes away from town, with its own little trails that are perfect for bird watching. It is also within walking distance of some of the most famous hikes with waterfalls. Great staff and food as well. Highly recommend!

We really enjoyed our stay here! On the first night we got a better room for no additional charges (lemon suite). The breakfast was delicious, and the view at the terrace is really amazing. You can see hummingbirds and woodpeckers while drinking your coffee, a wonderful experience!
We also booked a tour with them, and Fernando really outdid himself!
We would definitely come back :)

We had the best time at Casa de Vista Alta! Fernando is a fantastic host. He and all of the staff are friendly and gracious and will make sure you have a wonderful time. Lovely people. The property is stunning and the food is delicious. We stayed three nights and miss it already. We'll be back! Perfect base for waterfalls, zip lining, butterflies, orchids, tubing, hiking, chocolate tour, and exploring town. Enjoy the gorgeous view and watch hummingbirds, toucans, and parrots as you eat the yummy breakfast. Warm up by the fire in the evening, surrounded by nature's symphony. You will need bug repellent and, if you are prone to motion sickness, consider Dramamine for the drive to/from Quito.

Beautiful accommodation with a fantastic view. Great facilities with lots of attention to detail. Fabulous cuisine. Fernando and his team are super friendly. Their aim is to give you the best stay possible. The place to be in Mindo!

We had a wonderful stay at Casa de Vista Alta! Our cabin had an amazing view with toucans and hummingbirds, and it was clean, spacious, and comfortable. Fernando was an awesome and welcoming host who made us feel at home. The food is also excellent (especially breakfast!) We highly recommend staying here and can’t wait to come back.

What an amazing stay we had here! Fernando is an amazingly kind host, that is willing to go the extra mile for the comfort of his guests. Both the breakfast and diner are excellent, with a nice signature from the chefs and an excellent view from the terrace. The room is very spatious and the bed is large and comfortable. Most activities and the town centre are within walking distance from the accomodation. If needed, the host can arrange a taxi for you.

Beautiful property. Excellent meals. Fernando was so helpful and friendly. Walkable to the cable car and waterfalls. Bird watching from the balcony. Overall an incredible experience and more authentic Mindo than staying in town

Our stay in Casa Alta was a great surprise, beautiful wood house, well maintained, clean and the room was perfect. Breakfast was 6 stars in our stay, we eat dinner one night and it was cosy with the fire place on, it was a great detail. There was only one option for red wine and a bit expensive. We didn't follow the suggestion of others on finding a world - class guide to see birds, instead we booked with the owner that improvised 2 tour's but the experience wasn't what we expected. The views are amazing!

Absolutely amazing!! What a view to wake up to. Highly recommend for anyone wanting a close up of the gorgeous Mindo Cloud Forest. Birds aplenty and hospitality at a peak. The owner is AMAZING and we can’t wait to come back!

Staying here was the highlight of our trip in Mindo! Fernando is a gracious host who made us feel so comfortable in his family home. The rooms are an architectural work of art – so clean, bright and peaceful. It’s a small, quiet lodge with an immaculate patio to enjoy a 5 star breakfast on, surrounded by local hummingbirds. While you’re here, ask for a birdwatching tour with Marcelo. He’s a world-class guide who helped us find toucans, parrots a quetzal, tanagers and more.

When I first stumbled upon this hotel on IG, it seemed almost too good to be true. But everything was as perfect as it seemed online. The place is very clean, spacious and relaxing. It has everything you could need.
Fernando is the most thoughtful, gracious host. He provided us with all the information we needed and showed us around.
The food at the hotel was delicious. We had a great stay!

Fantastic base to coordinate all of the activities in and around Mindo. I was there mainly for birding and wildlife photography and the hosts were fantastic. They made breakfast to go since we were up before dawn, had flexible dinner times, and provided a very inexpensive laundry service for my fairly muddy clothes.

We booked this place for our family.to celebrate our 53rd anniversary. In 55 years together we have not found a more hospitable one welcoming place. Location was great. Accommodations great. The owner Ferdinand is great,always ready to please.

Beautiful room with a beautiful view. Everyone who works there is amazing and very helpful. We had breakfast there both mornings we stayed and it was delicious - also with a great view.

Casa de Vista Alta is one of my favorite places in Ecuador. Located in the beautiful forest of Mindo, only 2 hours away from Quito. The house is surrounded by many beautiful plants, flowers and many couloured birds like hummingbirds, toucans and parrots. This place is a great way to relax and to escape from noisy Quito, while you get to know the beautiful flora and fauna of the Ecuadorian cloudforest. The rooms in the house and cabaña are both very comfortable, with nice views. Good breakfast, and also good internet to be able to do some remote work meetings!
