Velero Sunset Grill restaurant

Great experience. Food was delicious and well prepared, service was excellent. Four of us went for dinner and to watch the sunset. Can recommend the lobster thermidor and the tuna steak. Prices were reasonable for the setting. Good prices on some of the drinks. We made reservations, but went early to have a drink, and they seated us right away.

The Sunset grill was recommended by friends. I’m glad they did as we would not have known it was there. It is located behind the Velero hotel off the alley behind Janet’s supermarket and there is no sign to advertise it. We returned to Canada mid-February after spending 5 weeks in Cabarete. The Sunset grill became one of our favourite restaurants while there. Enjoyed breakfast, brunch and lunch there and, of course, Happy hour which happens daily between 4&6 pm. The food is delicious and they have options for all ages. Prices are very competitive with other restaurants. The serving staff are friendly and attentive
We have rebooked our winter vacation for next January-February 2025 and you can bet we will be going to Sunset grill on a regular basis.

Beautiful View, Food and Service 😘

I really enjoyed my meal here. I got something simple, just a salad w some chicken added, but it was exactly the clean simple meal I needed. Prices are good, they don't jack it up w resort service fees. The view is insane. Pretty much every spot in the restaurant has an excellent view of the ocean, kiters going by, and I was there at lunch but I can tell it's a great spot for the sunset.

View & Drinks I give 5 stars! The service was a lil slow, but I'm sure it has two do with being understaffed. We had cocktails only.

Just perfect : from the food to the service, everything is wonderful. And what about the location... you can stay there for hours, connected with the ocean and with a view on the kite/windsurfers spot. More details : the service team is very nice, organized and very professional. The food is delicious, from wrap, burgers, sandwiches to local plates (la bandera 😊) at lunch. At breakfast you also have various choices, very good, you will think about them first thing in the morning 😂. At night we enjoyed meat or seafood, the langostino, the fish breaded in coconut, paella... a great great pleasure. The chief and his team made us sooo happy at every meal (we spent no less than 10 days of meal here, breakfast, lunch and dinner every day of our stay in velero, Why would you change a winning team !). Info for my gluten free friends 😊 : you will have few choices at lunch and breakfast but at dinner it s easy cause you can choose fish seafood or meat with rice or potatoes or plantains and (2 sides) vegetables or salad... for vegan : more complicated to find a plate but I m sure the team would find a solution that suits you. Dairy free : I think some (much?) sauces are dairy free (made with coconut milk for example, garlic sauce...). There is also a little cat coming at the restaurant who is nice and funny, it makes the place so adorable. Volveremos en deciembre y voy a pensar en el restaurante mucho durante el ano !

very fine dishes! Best place to relax and enjoy the sound of the waves. We had the chance to meet the chef 2 times. He does an amazing job. We had a blast with both meat and seafood!

Excellent! Really good service and the food was delicious! We had the lobster special,a version of lobster thermadore, and a civeche with plantain chips as an appetizer. Everything was locally sourced, fresh and delicious. Even the sour cream that came with our baked potatoes was homemade. Will be eating here for the remainder of our stay. Loved it!

While staying at Velero we've eaten many meals at the Sunset Grille. The food is terrific, the service is great, and the views are spectacular!
