Hillerød Camping

Lovely camping in the city of Hillerød. The castle is a 15 minute walking distance and absolutely worth it. Train to Copenhagen 20 minute walking distance. Camping has a neat clean kitchen, clean sanitair and our dog was welcome. Although you are in the centre, the camping itself is peaceful and quiet. Would definitely go there again.

What a relaxed and easy stay in Hillerod camping.
Our daughter spent the whole stay playing at the play area with other kids.
It is so nice to have all facilities to cook and eat at the common area.
Outside shower is just great.
Bathroom and toilets are new and well taken care of.
The owners are giving a full attention to the campsite which makes it one of the best campsite in Denmark.

Great campground with beautiful touches and details hard to find in any other campground. The service is very friendly by the family that owns it. The value for money is definitely worth. The town is very nice and the castle was another surprise for us. Good food, good places and friendly people. On one night a local musician played nice music for all the camp. Very clean, very convenient. Grear kids playground. Much recommended for a short or long stay.

Wat a wonderfull camping is this. We stayed here for 2 weeks in june 2023. The service and camping is great. Good location for all kind of trips in the area. Beautifull Castle in Hillerod and Kopenhagen is nearby.

The best Camping I have been by far. No detail is missing. Extreme cleanliness everywhere. Free shower. Huge kitchen (4 hotplates and oven) and living room (TV), garden furniture and flowers everywhere. Flat lawn squares. Super friendly and attentive staff. Perfect atmosphere. 15 ’walking to the castle. 335 DKK camper van + 2 adults + electricity. We recommend 120%;)

Very good camping. Clean and well organized. The owners really take care of the place and that’s visible in all the details.

Wow, this is the nicest camping I have ever stayed on. Immaculately clean washrooms, (indoor and) outdoor showers, well kept grass to camp on, free electricity. But what makes it special is the large amount of tropical plants and flowers on the camping, all the seats and tables between them that you can use to eat your meals, the large and nicely decorate kitchen and living room where you can eat, sit, play games or watch television. There is also a community pool nearby where you can get a free entry for. The owners (Danish and Dutch) really have an eye for detail. One playground for kids with two trampolines. I didn’t see any ‘fixed’ or seasonal residents (I never like it when campings have fixed year-round residents). Stayed here for three days, loved it!

Simply the best! Very clean site, lots of flowers and extremely friendly staff!! We will come again.

Absolutely lovely little spot, staff was so kind they accommodated me even the camping was supposedly full.

We loved this camping, very clean, great kitchen, good wide places and the kids had enough to play with.
We used the camping to go to Copenhagen, a nice 10 min walk to the trainstation and the train (25 mins) brings you straight into the heart of Copenhagen.

Annette is a life-saver. Hillerød camping is twice awarded best camping site in Denmark and for good reason. Always a pleasure to stay here.

If I could give it six stars i would. The love and care that goes into keeping this glorious campsite going is constantly evident. You see groups of campers wandering around in a daze, obviously wondering, "can this really be true?" The common areas are generous, the site is meticulously maintained. It's a 15 walk or 5 min cycle ride to the station and then a 40 train into Copenhagen. You are also well placed for Elsinore and Louisiana. They do bakery orders for the next morning, a decent grocery shop and there's a supermarket nearby. Perfect in every way.

We were camping at Esbjerg campsite and wanted to go on to Copenhagen for a few days. The receptionist at Esbjerg suggested we stay at the Hillerod campsite, as it is close to the station and a short trip by train to Copenhagen, and there is a beautiful castle and lake there - Frederiksborg Castle.

Arriving at the site, we were met by the lady owner who came out to shake us by the hand, and made us feel welcome immediately.

The layout of the campsite is fairly informal, with no specific markings for motorhomes or caravans, although there are quite a number of power socket towers around the field. Apart from this area, there are also cabins for renting out, which look very inviting.

The toilet and shower facilities are immaculate, and the whole site shows a definite feminine touch, with flower vases, decorations, oil lamps at night, to name a few.

Both owners are very pleasant and helpful, and made our stay there a great experience.

If you want to travel by train to Copenhagen, the ticket office is closed (at least it was when we were there) and there is an electronic pay station just outside. HOWEVER, the instructions are all in Danish, so we were unable to buy a ticket from this. There is a fast food/mini-supermarket right next to the ticket office, and THIS is where you should buy your tickets. Do ask the sales people about the best ticket option, as we were suggested one ticket which worked out much cheaper than we thought.

As if the communal kitchen isn’t better than our own. They serve coffee to campers every morning and tonight there’s an acoustic session going down. If Carlsberg did campsites. This would be one of theirs. The best camp site I’ve ever stayed on, and I’ve been on a few in the 30yrs I’ve been camping.

Calm campsite, friendly staff, very clean showers and toilets, well equipped kitchen.

There's absolutely nothing to fault it. The owner, her partner and staff ensure you have a wonderful holiday in lovely surroundings. They make you feel like valued friends which I think is very special.

We booked the luxe house, and with the 4 of us, it was really good.

Very friendly staff. Very nice little bungalow. Very good connection to Kopenhagen. Nice area to run.

I have been here on several occasions renting a cabin for a day or two. There is always a lot of activities and it is really close to the city and the castle in there.
