Beautiful place all year around. Good parking space and beautiful surrounding forest in Hestehave Skov. Information about the place and its history at the start of the route.

A nice place to visit and to take a little walk in the beautuful Danish nature.

In summer its great to stop on the narrow way to the castle, take of the shoes and step into the water for a few minutes.

Near to the bar/shop by the parking area there is a clean public toilette avaible when needed.

Very nice location although à bit far to walk from the parking lot. A nice cafe serving coffe and food at the parking.

A nice walk up to a castle ruin. Most of the castle is gone but you can still climb up the keep for a good view of the sea and surroundings.

If you are up for a long walk, this is a really nice place to visit, but be sure to bring water. There is a small restaurant at the beginning of the trail so you can buy from there. The road to the ruin is old and made out of big rocks so be careful if you bring strollers and wear comfortable shoes. You can't drive to the actual ruin, but they have a free parking lot. All in all, it takes about 1 hour and 30 min to walk to the castle, visit it and walk back.

Great place to visit if you are near by. Calm and uncommercialized. There is ample car park here if you decide to drive down here and also café at the start of the trail.

You need to cover decent ground to reach the castle or what is left of it. Its not steep hike but it will consume your energy ;-). I would recommend you a bottle of water (at least a small one) with you. We spent around 1-2 hours here, enjoying the walk and scenery around. We caught the sunset when we visited. The view from the castle edge will mesmerize you especially on a clear day.

Ideal if you're into history and scenery! It's a good (and usually windy) walk from the parking area and restaurant to the castle ruin. If you make it all the way and to the top of the ruin, you'll get a fantastic view of the entire area. Not much left of the 14th century castle, but interesting to get a sense of it, and its natural surroundings.

A beautiful medieval castle ruin placed on a small peninsula with a stunning panorama view of Aarhus and Mols.
Kalø Ruin is not easy accessible - it's a 500 m walk from the parking spot and the road is very bumpy, but the trip is SO WORTH IT!
In clear weather you can see very far.
Try it out - it is free and it is such a beautiful spot!

The castle itself isn’t much though the history behind its construction and the motivation of the leader is quite interesting. The castle can be reached through a 1km rockish walk that can get slippery in the winter so be cautious. The views are quite beautiful on a clear day and there’s a serenity to the place though it seems to get quite busy on a sunny day.

Also the free wifi accessible from the car park is top notch with fantastic speeds 😁.

Very good place for a nice walk. Great view from the plateau and especially from the ruin itself. In the evening, I could enjoy the place completely alone.
There are enough parking spots, even if it's a little bit crowded.

I have been coming here throughout my entire life (27 years). Always a nice walk to the ruin in all kinds of weather. It seems as that in the last five years or so it has become even more popular and now people park on both sides of road almost every time I visit.

In the summer there is motorcycle/car enthusiast meeting every Tuesday, which attracts a lot of people and nice cars.

For people riding bicycles: beware, that when taking the downhill bicycle path from Rønde, the cars taking a right turn into the parking lot have the right of way. I have witnessed a few close-calls in that intersection.

Very old viking castle after 1313, short trip into the past! It is a walk back to old times, where farmers fighted against a king for rights.

Great place to visit. You have to wear flat walking shoes as the medieval road is a challange to walk. It is not suitable for people with walking difficulties and definitly not for a pram with a toddler! Great views from the top of the castle.

Kalø is always worth a visit. Try to take the tour around the island on the beach and finalise it with a big ice cream.
