We had the sliced pork, fried fish with shrimp, and the minced meat dish. (Don’t remember the Danish names).
We were looking around for a restaurant because we’re only here on a layover. All were booked solid. This restaurant was able to squeeze us in.
I’ll admit that I’m not familiar with Danish cuisine. We just asked to bring us the best they had.
It was all delicious. Even my teenage daughter liked it. Nice presentation. Delicious foods. Some flavor combinations I’ve never tried before.
This is why we decided to visit Copenhagen during our layover.

Great authentic Danish meal in a traditional and welcoming environment. The roast pork was as advertised. Moist and flavorful with crispy skin. It was suggested from a tour guide to come here if looking for traditional food and it did not disappoint.

Went there to eat typical Danish food, and it was a-ma-zing. I’m convinced it’s actually a good place to eat the real Danish food and not a tourist trap. The restaurant is nicely decorated, the food was really good, although quite pricey (we had one smørrebrod). We talked with the waiter and he told us a lot about the history of the restaurant, and he recommended us lots of places to visit and overall he was super nice!

We accidentally canceled the booking but the staff was super friendly and they got us a spot. It’s a very authentic place to try the traditional danish cuisine. I would definetely recommend the smorrebrod and the wienerschnetzel, and would skip the puff pastry options, they weren't our favorites.

Great traditional Danish food in one of the oldest Danish restaurants in Copenhagen. Try the smørrebrød!

Visited at lunch time after a busy day touring the botanical gardens, Rosenborg Castle, and climbing the round tower [nearby].

Ordered:
1 x local Jacobsen pilsner
1 x Somersby cider
2 x [beginner] Schnapps (recommended by our waiter)
1 x poached cod smørrebrød
1 x Frøken Johansen smørrebrød
1 x Frøken Juls flæskesteg smørrebrød
1 x pork liver pate smørrebrød

* we recommend the poached cod and Frøken Johansen smørrebrød*

Bill price: circa £45pp

For lunch, one portion of smørrebrød would have been sufficient, but we were filling up for our flight home. The smørrebrød is served individually and separately, so you could always order a second if you're not satisfied after your first course.

Really great food! Once again, we were fortunate enough to find a place that the entire family really enjoyed. They have a wide variety, and the restaurant felt very authentic. The prices were quite reasonable and the service was good. All in all, this place was an amazing stop. Certainly worth your time if you are in the area.

We did a layover in Copenhagen and wanted to try some Danish food. Saw the good rating of this restaurant so made a reservation. Wow! We’re so glad we made the choice. Everything was delicious, especially the puff pastry with chicken/asparagus and veal liver. The veal liver is, honestly, the best we’ve ever tried. We’ll definitely miss this place, and would love to come back when we visit Copenhagen in the future.

We LOVED it! Food, drinks, service & atmosphere- great! If you want traditional Danish smørrebrød and a good lunch experience…come here. Right off the walking street and everything was delish! We were there in American Father’s Day and all was perfect!

Comfortable, cozy, and casual. Conveniently located just off
Strøget if you’re out and about shopping. Nice service. Food was delicious, huge portions. Went to have the most traditional dishes.
Flæskesteg: Denmark’s National Dish-Flæskesteg is a cut of pork broiled with the skin. While preparing the pork, cuts made in the skin are filled with a dry rub of salt, pepper, and sometimes cloves.

Also, had the “dessert of Denmark”
rødgrød med fløde (red porridge with cream) pudding is usually made with a mix of strawberries, raspberries, blackcurrants, and redcurrants.

Nice restaurant in a less busy street but still in the centre. The staff were all super friendly and helpful. They spoke english, explained the dishes and did not rush us. The food was very delicious. We had the chicken and asparagus puff pastry, the roasted pork and the fish. All dishes really good and well presented.

Was craving good Danish food, the stuff of my ancestors. Started with perfectly-presented herring and akvavit. Then shared roast beef and flæskesteg with crackings with my daughter. Topped off with rhubarb dessert. Delicious 😋! Absolut best and friendly service from Mette. Will be back soon.

A beautifully eclectic and in places eccentric establishment, comfortable and steeped in a national pride. The service is superb and the food is exceptional. Thoughtful flavour combinations and a high level of skill is found throughout their menu.

This was definitely the best dinner during our visit to Copenhagen. The favourite dish was the roast pork with gravy and potatoes. The gravy itself was something legendary. It’s savoury, buttery and absolutely addictive. This dish was something that would ruin any future roast pork meals in your life. As with any restaurant in Copenhagen, book ahead to avoid disappointment.

This place was one of my favourite dining experiences in Copenhagen. A classic, humble restaurant with an extensive smorrebrod selection. They were all delicious. The cod-smorrebrod with fried egg on top was to die for.

Came here with 6 friends for a lunch. We were told this was a must-see in Copenhagen and I was glad I did. The waiters are friendly, funny and full of facts about the food and traditions. We tried the separate dishes and also the Copenhagen Plate. The portions were surprisingly big but of great quality. The salmon was as fresh as can be and the traditional tartar is an absolute winner. If you follow the advice and pick two dishes; make sure you bring some appetite.

Also leave some room for the mandatory schnapps and/or pints that they serve! All in all a great experience that I can recommend every visitor. Make sure you book well in advance because we noticed it’s quite a popular place.
