St. Mary's Cathedral

I love the Architecture. The way it is preserved for us to see and admire the work of Art from the 11th Century, is such a great privilege. No entrance fee. Not crowded. You have all the time to look at all those magnificent Chandeliers, the door, the Pillars etc.

A must visit, calm, free attraction. Beautiful church and piece of art.

Peaceful and pretty place. We were thankful to escape the extreme heat.

This church is definitely worth to be visited. It is one of the most beautiful sightseeing in the Hildesheim. It's a part of UNESCO world's heritage. Very beautiful inside. The church contains many interesting exhibits. It was a concert at the time I was there. The music and singing were amazing, I really enjoyed it.

Just as I would expect a Roman Catholic cathedral to be.

Very peaceful place, and very different to many cathedrals as the inside is paint matte white, which added to the peace. Also the interior is very plain and quite modern, The courtyard is interesting to walk around, I went in winter, but I can imagine the court yard to be very pretty in the summer months. I understand that there is a very old rose growing in the courtyard. Inside the cathrdral is a crypt and a roman crypt , and the most fantastic chandelier.

Really beautiful place.

Outstanding renovation of this very early church. The important, early works of Christian art really stand out as a result. The bronze doors are truly wonderful. The museum exhibit was also very impressive. A beautiful corner in Hildesheim.

There is so much to see and learn. The tombs are really interesting, the story of the rose is really lovely.

It's the perfect place for children and adults especially on a rainy day!

A great historical cathedral which is older than Hildesheim itself and probably the reason why Hildesheim is located there. Staff is friendly and open to respond your questions. You can easily spend hours in that authentic old cathedral.

Great medieval remains. A stunning bronze door and column. Only issue: as often in Germany, if you can't read German you're out. There's no info in English at all

Was amazed how new the interior of the cathedral looked until I saw photos of the damages during WWII. Beautiful cathedral, great to see some old relics retained.

Ottonian cathedral dating back to 872, in one of the nicer parts of town. Destroyed by the RAF in WWII and rebuilt during 1950-60. Art treasures include the bronze Bernward Doors and Romanesque wheel chandeliers. The cloister courtyard features the ‘thousand-year rose’, symbol of Hildesheim. In the cathedral museum there's a good collection of artworks and old manuscripts.

Saint Mary's carhedral was unfortunately partly destroyed in WWII but an effort was made to restore it. Beautiful cloister anf rose garden.

Lovely Cathedral with a gorgeous ceiling.

The garden of the church is huge and very beautiful in autumn.

A must visit place in the town of Hildesheim.
Neatly maintained and good if you know the history of the place
