Weingut Walter J. Oster

This winery is probably the best kept secret in the world. I had no idea about the Mosel wine region till a about 6 years ago and when I discovered the Walter J Oster wines made by head winemaker Michael Oster, I was blown away. Hands down one of the best wineries in the world . Small batch , hand made wines that are incredibly good .

Trust me. Try them. Buy a case you won’t be disappointed .

Very friendly host. You can taste (free) whatever you want. Eventually I bought 2 bottles. And stayed for another nice glass of wine on the terras.

Were allowed to try some Mosel wines before buying. Lovely wines are being sold here. Especially the 2018 Ediger Elzhofberg (trocken). Couldn't resist bringing some of these fine bottles home.

Extraordinery winery, very nice place, very friendly staff, Henry is very nice for wine testing, he understood our wine preferences. He made this place the one where we bought the most bottles of Mosela Rieslings :) The best souvenirs to take home to the Czech republic :) Thank you!

We had a really nice stay with the Oster family right after the floods in Western Germany 2021. The booking process was great, we received all the safety information reg. our arrival well in advance. We stayed in the Scheune - lovely historic building skillfully restored, great modern fittings (bathroom, comfortable bed, fitted kitchen) combined with a lovely design with antique furniture. The host was very welcoming - despite the stress of dealing with the aftermath of the flooding, Mr. Oster invited us to spend the evening with his friends and family. Incredible wines - aromatic Riesling, well balanced sweetness and acidity, with notes of mountain peach, white flowers and honey - will be on order for delivery for many years to come.

My family and I spent six days in the Mosel region and stayed in the Kelterhaus in Ediger. It was an ideal location for walking around Ediger and sightseeing along the Mosel. The apartment included a full kitchen, and even a dedicated wine refrigerator for our tasty purchases. The staff was exceptionally helpful, recommending restaurants, activities, and making sure that we enjoyed every aspect of our stay.

The wine is excellent, among the best we had during our tour of the Rhine and the Mosel. And then there's the tasting room. Filled with 100s of custom liquors, oils, and spirits stored in this odd, egg-shaped dispensers. If I ever get to return to this region of Germany -- and I hope I do -- I'll stay here again.

We love this place. The Devon Riesling is amazing and well worth the price. They also allow you to drink glasses on the terrace overlooking the river.

Good prices on wine and a large variety of different flavored liqueurs as well. Very relaxing atmosphere

Morgen ist es wieder soweit, wir fahren zu unserem Weinwochende nach Ediger Eller. Unser Wein und Spirituosenvorrat wird aufgefüllt und das machen wir immer in der Vinothek bei Oster. Mein Mann und ich haben eigentlich einen unterschiedlichen Weingeschmack, aber Dank der hervorragenden Beratung dort, haben wir die perfekten Weine, die uns beiden schmecken, die wir standardmäßig kaufen und als Extra probieren wir uns durch. Bei schönem Wetter sitzt man gemütlich draußen, mit Blick auf die Mosel und testet vom Wein bis Likörchen. Wir sind Fans, das kann ich nicht anders sagen. Das Preis Leistungsverhältnis ist gut und wie gesagt, eine top Beratung. Wer hier nichts findet, ist es selbst Schuld 😍

Wir hatten das Appartement Falkenhorst. Sehr schönes, direkt an der Mosel gelegenes Appartement. Alles drin, was man benötigt um einen tollen Aufenthalt zu haben. Die Vermieter waren sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Die Vinotheke hat uns so manches versüßt.
Das Gebiet ist hervorragend zum Wandern oder auch für kleine Spaziergänge oder Radtouren geeignet.

Nette und kompetente Beratung. Man kann nahezu alles probieren. Auch abends wird nicht unbedingt auf die Uhr geschaut. Wir kamen kurz vor Ladenschluss und der Laden blieb länger geöffnet, wie geplant. Es war sehr gesellig. Die Vinothek ist wirklich hervorragend.

Das „W“ könnte hier auch für WOW stehen…

Für mich die schönste Vinothek mit den leckersten Weinen. Die Terrasse vor dem historischen Keller mit der integrierten Vinothek, lädt mit Blick auf die Mosel zum verweilen und probieren ein. Die Weine haben einen richtig tollen Geschmack. Ob Weiß, Rot oder Rosé, hier findet jeder Topf seinen Deckel.

Trotz des leicht verregnetem Wetters haben wir mal wieder einen tollen Urlaub bei Euch erlebt. Ihr und euer Personal habt wieder ganz tolle Arbeit geleistet. Ein ganz großes Dankeschön an Petra. Bei euch merkt man, dass man herzlich willkommen ist. Die Beratung zu Euren Produkten auf unsere Geschmäcker war absolute Klasse.

Tolle Weine kombiniert mit raffinierten Likören und leckeren Schmankerln vom Wajos. Hier ist wahrscheinlich für jeden etwas dabei. Wer es direkt probieren will, sollte definitiv die neue Wajos Lounge ausprobieren. Einfach mega lecker. Am besten nach einem Abstecher bei Oster in St. Aldegund.

Wer eine Unterkunft vor Ort sucht, sollte die angebotenen Unterkünfte auf der Homepage testen. Hier trifft historisches Fachwerk auf moderne Akzente. Wir waren bereits in mehreren Häusern und immer wieder sehr zufrieden. Dazu sind diese noch in zentraler Lage. So ist der Weg zur und aus der Vinothek nicht all zu weit 😅
