Free to enter and walk around, the scale of the area is massive and you can easily spend 2-3 hours walking around. You don't truly understand the scale of the camp until you walk the grounds.

Although none of the original building stand there are plenty of maps explaining certain areas dotted around the grounds.

The POW cemetery is separate from the camp, roughly a 5 min walk and is now connected via a sand path that crosses the training area.

All signs have an English translation and the exhibits in the museum also have English translations.

There is a cafe and library on site, but I didn't visit.

Another very humbling experience. This was our third camp that we went to on our trip to Germany. We were not expecting to be here long, because unlike Sachsenhausen and Dachau, Bergen Belsen does not have any structures up besides the visitors center/exhibit....but we ended up visiting for about 3 hours. While the building didn't really take long, walking the grounds and reading the signs of where things were, the memorial and graves took the majority of time. I would recommend coming here.

Wow, what a moving, thought provoking and awful place. I cried most of the way around the site and the museum. They have a place for reflection as well as well signed areas of interest.

Well worth a visit to pay your respects and learn from history and not just delete it. Make you walk down to the POW graves.

I visited 40 years ago whilst I was in the Army stationed in Germany. I remember it being a vast open space with burial mounds with mass graves. It's still as vast, however, a lot more trees and vegetation, it now has a visitors centre, a museum and other buildings. We got talking to a lady who was originally from Poland who was accompanied by her son, they lived in London, she was a prisoner in Bergen-Belsen until it was liberated by the British in April 1945, she was 14 years old. Fascinating and sad at the same time.

We went on a weekend morning, the countryside is very picturesque coming into the memorial. It is free entry and you have about 2km of walking in the memorial so wearing good shoes is a must as it can be very muddy. Very educational and emotionally charging. Lots of people were placing stones on the graves, this is a mark of respect in Judaism, and you can add to it. The adjacent museum is also very well presented and gives a good understanding of the camp.

People in the museum are very friendly and helpful. This place is peaceful, green, quiet...but when you realise where you are and what happened there...you get the chills. It makes you feel humble. It is remarkable how a bit of history can do that to a person.

This is a place of history, mourning and grieving. It is very organized and a TRUE tribute to ALL who lost their lives.

A sobering and beautifully done memorial. We spent several hours in the memorial building before visiting the rest of the site. It feels as if this is somewhere everyone should visit to understand what happened and to ensure it never happens again.

It is what it is.... Fantastic museum to help understand what the victims endured.

It's, very hard to give positive stars to something so horrible, the raw concrete wall walk puts you in a down mood so you are prepared for the worst to come. So many lives and for what? The exhibition is good but the stories are horrible.

Bergen Belsen was a place of unbelievable horrors and brutality. It is both a shocking and extremely sad place to visit, not for the faint hearted.

Approximately 50,000 people died in the Bergen-Belsen camp complex. Among them was Ann Frank.

There are photos in the museum depicting 1000s of naked bodies being shovelled into mass graves. For me it was a very disturbing experience but one I would not have missed.

Such a moving place, the information center was very educational and you also had the option for a tour guide, the outside area only has graves and rubble from buildings reserved but the information boards help build a picture. I really enjoyed it.

Cannot really say I loved it, but the way Germany has handled it's past is absolutely stunning. The vast landscapes and big concrete buildings just add to the effect.

We took the guided English tour and it was excellent! Even though there aren’t any buildings left from the concentration camp, there is a beautiful memorial. It is a very moving place!
