I still can't believe that the castle is still in such good shape after the Second World War. Breathtaking, massive, magnificent. When you go up to the top and look out over the town, you get a sense of why they built the castle where it is. I cannot get over how impressive it is. Also, Nuremberg is still surrounded by the great city walls. It takes about an hour to walk around them. That's the great thing about the city. You can walk anywhere and it never takes more than 30 minutes to get to the other side of the city centre. Best of all, while you are exploring the city on foot, you will find many other gems on your walking adventure. From bridges to churches and other lovely old buildings. Enjoy!🏰✨
Little tip: During weekdays you can enter the inside of the castles for free. That is in the morning until 10am or so

It has a really good view of the city. View point is open all the time, but the castle is closed on holidays and the weekend. Spent the new years eve here, and the view point was very much crowded.Inside it has a museum, a deep well, and a tower where you can take a better view of the city.

This is a beautiful place to visit. It has a very steep cobbled path leading up to the entrance and a lot of steps inside. I bought the combination ticket which was worth it. The castle is well presented inside with educational displays. The tower is 112 steps up a spiral staircase, but the views from the top were beautiful. The tour to the well was funny and fascinating. The tour guide knew his stuff.

One of the best castles *and* the best museums I've been to. The views are stunning, the castle is intimidating, the exhibits are thorough, and everything around here immerses you into the middle ages.

Besides which it's free to see the outside, and quite cheap to enter (and fine arts students enter for free apparently).

Another stop on our city walking tour. End of September 2023. There is no charge to go through the grounds. Took us about 20min to visit. The buildings are beautiful to see, and the views from the top are spectacular! Definitely worth walking up.

Amazing medieval castle that have been kept so well.
This is truly a castle with super strong defense.
Not far from the city center market, easy to walk to. Free to walk into it and there is a good view of the old town.
Even though Nuremberg was 90% destroyed during WWII, the old town was rebuilt and restored according to the pictures they had of the old buildings and structures. So, much of the history is preserved. Otherwise, if they had decided to build everything new, there would not be not much of the past left to see.
Very impressive old town city market with a gorgeous fountain and church, and you can buy fantastic food, flowers, gingerbread cookies….
If you are a WWII history fan, then you have a lot more places to see.
Really worth visiting.

Cool place to visit if you are in the area.
We chose to package that allowed you to go up into the tower, as well as see the deep well the tower was worth the climb. The views of the city are incredible. There are some pictures there that show the city and the 1940s before it was bombed, and the same view after the city was bombed. It’s incredible to see the destruction and how things have been , completely rebuilt as if it never happened.
The well tour was particularly interesting with very good demonstration and a very helpful guide.
The castle itself was beautiful, particularly the twin chapels.

An amazing castle with great views of the city. Most of it has been rebuilt, but I liked that it was rebuilt to match the old castle so the historic feel is preserved.
It is on top of a hill, so be prepared for a climb. And if your up for more climbing, definitely make your way up the tower for even better views of the city!

I recommend visitors to live in the DJH hostel just next to this castle. Then you can spend as much time as you like to enjoy the beautiful view from the higher land of Nuremberg. The castle itself is ok. To be honest, not much surprise but do worth a look. Stunning views from the tower are very attractive for photographers.

This is a sprawling wonder. You can wander around the grounds, inside and out, for hours. There are many small and large secrets to discover. And much light a good piece of art, it changes dramatically with the light of day and night.

We just visited the "free" section of the castle and it was very nice. The generally accessible parts also have some info boards and offer great views over the city. Entrance fee is low and offer access to the high round tower and other parts of the castle and may be of interest for other visitors. nice place to explore either way

It appears to be the main attraction here in Nuremberg and that for a reason: It is on a upper lever as compared to the city, from here start the walls of defence, the style is strictly medieval but almost everything has been destroyed during WWII and rebuilt. The inner part is historically interesting then train your legs up in the central tower and every 30 minutes there is a guided tour (in Deutsch) for the deep well of the Castle.

Very interesting medieval castle, full of history and very beautiful. A must-see in Nürnberg.

Great view of the city, and entrance to the museum, tower and well for a good price, and the wait line was not long for a sunday.

Very historical and nice place to visit. If you want to see the museum and top of the tower you have to pay 7 euros but beside that its free to see the castle.

Very high walls and good enforcements. Could not conquer the castle. Defenses were very strong. Cannonballs bounced off the castle walls due to pointy rock formation used on outside. Would recommend for safety, 10 out of 10.

In the Middle Ages, German kings (respectively Holy Roman Emperors after their coronation by the Pope) did not have a capital, but voyaged from one of their castles (Kaiserpfalz or Imperial castle) to the next. Thus, the castle at Nürnberg became an important imperial castle, and in the following centuries, all German kings and emperors stayed at the castle, most of them on several occasions.

Nuremberg Castle comprises three sections: the Imperial castle (Kaiserburg), the former Burgraves' castle (Burggrafenburg), and the buildings erected by the Imperial City at the eastern site (Reichsstädtische Bauten).

Great views of the old city from here. There’s a nice cafe and gift shop at the top. It’s worth the walk up for the views and the way back down is dotted with great places to eat and drink. Definitely recommend this if you’re in town.
