Memories Flamenco Beach Resort

We visited this resort in early January. We had a lovely time, despite many negative reviews. You know how much you paid for this vacation, you should have realistic expectations. If you are the type of person who requires perfection, or a 5 star resort, go elsewhere.

The beach was stunning, the service was excellent and our room was perfectly fine. The food was sub par, but relative to the price we paid we really can't complain.

We would have no problem returning to this resort and we met many repeat guests while we were there. We would recommend bringing bug spray, the mosquitos were annoying, but not worse than what we have in Canada during the warm weather.

If you come to this resort with reasonable expectations and an optimistic mindset, you will likely have a nice time.

Personnel in general: Excellent, friendly and efficient.
Service/bars/restaurants: Good, professional and friendly.
Restaurant/buffet: Good, although with some lacks in the breakfast, for example: jam, cold cuts of good quality and cheeses, variety of breads, variety of salads.
Theme restaurants: All very good. Suggestion: some quality wines should be available, even if you pay for them in addition to the room rate.
Reception: Very good.
Animation: Excellent.
Garden and beach: Excellent.
Maintenance of the hotel: Regular (it is noticeable deterioration and lack of maintenance/prevention).
Housekeeping: Very good.

The hotel could use an update, but it's not terrible. Water worked, AC worked and general condition of the rooms was understandable. It's just an old establishment, nothing wrong with that if you have warning. It's Cuba, somethings are not exactly "1st class" but the staff does their best to fix any problems ASAP.
The real treat about this place is the staff. Kind hearted, hard working and always tolerate. The warm smiles and friendly atmosphere truly makes a trip magical. The entertainment team is amazing, probably the best in Cuba. The way they get the guests involved and dancing is one of the most phenomenal things I have ever seen.
The food selection was always good and I felt as though there where an exorbitant amount of options.
The drinks tasted wonderful and did the job just fine. The bartenders always showed respect and professionalism even while getting absolutely insulated by some guests.
The beach and water are the most beautiful places. Stunning would be the word I would have to pick to describe this location. Sunrise and sunset will be worth your time.
The pool is always well maintained and beautiful, with amazing staff to make you feel safe and comfortable.
I may leave for Canada soon, but my heart stays in Cuba ❤

7-day stay at the Memories Flamenco hotel in Cayo Coco.
It has been a wonderful experience.
The hotel is beautiful although deteriorated, especially the bathroom doors in the exterior (there is not one that closes). The surroundings are paradise-like: beach, gardens, swimming pools, restaurants, etc. The staff in bars, restaurants, kitchens, gardening, reception, etc. are extraordinarily friendly with customers. The entertainment is one of the best I have seen over the years traveling in different countries.
The effort made by the hotel managers and the kitchen staff to maintain the level of quality in the buffets and theme restaurants is very noticeable, although they do not always succeed due to the lack of food. According to the staff, this is something that happens all over the country. This is the only negative point we experienced during our wonderful stay.
We will come back!

This was our second time at Memories Cayo Coco and we had a wonderful time, we will be back! We upgrade to Diamond Club and it is worth it. All the resort staff are great but we really appreciate Melissa, Omar, Dainel, Suhay and Yusniel in the Diamond Club Restaurant, Ramon at the beach bar, Zoe the Customer Experience Manager, and Ailin, Denise and Aniery in customer service. The servers in the restaurant were so great with our kids and made our meals really memorable.
The beach is one of the most beautiful we have ever visited. White sand beach, lots of ocean life, easy to rent a kayak or paddleboat.
We enjoyed the food but keep in mind you won't find everything you would get on a Canadian buffet. There may be days where some items aren't available, my advice is be flexible and go with the flow. If you have kids, you may want to bring some snacks for between meals. That said, we enjoyed the food, especially the fish and the soups. And the coffee, of course!
The animation staff are awesome and lots of fun. Shows are good and one thing we loved were the musicians and performers around the resort ar night. Super talented and unexpected! The kids also loved the churro and cotton candy stand.
The rooms are clean and do show a bit of wear, but our suite was much more spacious than we expected. They have also upgraded the mattresses since last year and they were considerably more comfortable. The public washrooms are small for the size of the resort and although the staff do their best, I'd suggest bringing some toilet paper with you if you need to use them just in case.
Pools are pretty and fun if you want a bit more party atmosphere, there is usually music and games going on.
Bring bug spray! It's worth it.
The best parts of our trip were the sun, beach, meals and people. We will return!

I know no matter what, everyone will have a different experience with this place. For the most part, my family and I really enjoyed it and had a great time.

We were there Jan 10-17 and flew with Sunwing.

We also upgraded to Diamond Club.

I loved the fact that the airport is only 15-20 min away.

The food was good. You will never go hungry here. Yes there are flies, yes the food rotation is on repeat, but it’s not the end of the world. Having the option for the Diamond Club restaurant was great, but you do get more options in the main buffet. We enjoyed the a la carte, esp the Asian restaurant.

The rooms are clean and comfortable. We had a suite and it was more than enough room. We knew when to not take a shower (usually right before dinner - peak hour(s)). When we showered at night, we had no issues with water pressure or water temperature.

The staff are amazing. They will go out of their way to ensure you have a great experience. If you are leaving them tips, you can leave Canadian $ but they are not able to use our coins. Be prepared to exchange for bills if needed!

The beaches - OMG, they were incredible. Clean, beautiful, just a great view.

The pools were always clean and well-maintained!

A plethora of activities to do! They always have something planned for the guests (orange t-shirt party!).

We took advantage of Playa Prohibida (aka Lenny’s). Our concierge arranged for a ride ($35/day) and our driver was great. We drove in an old Chevy and my FIL loved it. Bring cash for Lenny’s!

Bring bug spray, the no-see-ums did suck :(.

Would I go back? I would. We had an incredible time.

DO NOT LISTEN TO THOSE NEGATIVE PEOPLE REVIEWS, they most probably forgot to take their depression pills. This our 2nd day. The place is amazing, the beach is wonderful, the rooms are clean a bit outdated(stay outdoors if you have a problem :). Food is good, I'm not starving yet :D. Definetely would come back here anytime.

Not far from the airport about 20 mins. reception and check in process is efficient and fast, just don’t fall for it and exchange money, Canadian dollars works fine you can have a change of $20 anywhere around - easy to tip. I would be honest about the rooms, it’s a bit outdated and you need to compromise your accommodation accordingly, like you need a working AC, shower and flusher, lights and TV, then you’re ok. beds aren’t comfy enough. But thanks to the house keeping, she made our accommodation happy and always clean. Her name is Glady. thanks to her, she made our vacation happy.
Now I take you to the magic as you don’t spend your time in rooms you go to the beach the most gorgeous beach you can ever see, the longest walk you can ever have and the water is unbelievable, very safe for kids and joyful.
Same the pool is awesome.
Snack bars are awesome and the service is amazing, the guys are truly hard working and decent, everyone does his best, nice friendly atmosphere.
Buffet was nice. I’m not a breakfast guy to say much, only my kids go for cereal while I’m having my tasty delicious cappuccino, for lunch I liked what was there normally chicken, beef, fish, rice, pasta and soup. I think it was enough. Dinner was almost the same like lunch no big difference. However, you can try a la carte restaurants, I vote for the Mediterranean restaurant, it had a tasty menu. Wouldn’t vote for the other restaurants cz I wasn’t impressed with their menu, it was the same like buffet.
Animation team is crazy, they are making two big shows like they could easily win the X factor 😀 for real. Best animation team ever for families, for kids, for teens. everybody is truly awesome.
Over all it’s a beautiful place, you’ll love the beach, pool, bars, animation, food and staff, all is perfect.
My only wish is to see them make more improvements to the rooms.

Staying at the Memories Flamenco resort was an amazing experience. I'm definitely considering returning in the near future. Overall, the service was good. The atmosphere was good. The resort is organized, clean and well maintained. I noticed the workers always fixing, painting, gardening and cleaning. Lots of activities available like basketball, tennis, ping pong, volleyball and more. A two tier pool plus a kiddy pool. A beautiful stretch of beach lined with shade umbrellas and lounge chairs. Plenty of benches and tables around the lobby area for those using the WIFI.

Been to this resort twice already and looking forward to going back. Beautiful beaches, quick 20 min drive from airport, great staff and amenities. Zoidamy is a great staff member who made my stay incredible. Highly reccomend!!

I haven't been in Cuba in 14 years, and my expectations for this hotel were very low, but I was surprised to see that the hotel was not that bad, it need a lot of maintenance but overall is fine. The air conditioning was working fine, and that is very important for the Cuban heat, the hot water was very hot, not to much water pressure though, but again that is maintenance. The staff is very nice and they help as much as possible. I had a problem with the bed that was broken and they changed my room right away without issues.
As per the food no complaints either, I don't eat seafood or fish due to allergies but the rest of the food was delicious, well prepared, my congrats to the chef, plenty of tropical fruit as well.
As per the location no complaints, the beach is awesome, is not to many people at the island just the ones at the hotels and the workers, you won't have people on top of the hotel guest traying to sell you activities or time shares, the activities and excursions are there for you to book at your own accord, and that in my opinion is very important.
I do recommend that you take a lot of OFF (or similar) against the mosquitoes 🦟, you will be surrounded by forest and is always mosquitoes there. Also while there enjoy and admire the nature, is a lot of endemic birds, snails and amphibians in the area of Cayo Coco, if you are interested in that, is a local guide called Paulino Lopez that can give you a bird watching tour. You can also take the double deck buss that takes you to Playa Pilar ot the Market and in your way there enjoy and admire the nature of the island 🏝.
I went there with my husband, daughter and my daughter's boyfriend, all adults, and the enjoy the hotel , the pool, the food and the beach ⛱
Overall me and my family had a great time.

We went for our anniversary & it was our favourite vacation till date. Its just you & your partner in the moment, away from the chaos of social media & too much connection with everyone you know. Its best for a digital detox. You will have wifi access in the lovby & to be honest I barely used 1 hour out of the 7 free hours I was provided. Beautiful food, restaurants, beaches, swimming pools & an amazingly friendly staff. We will definitely be visiting again.

One of the best resorts in Cayo Coco. Diamond club was worth it; especially, the ocean view. Friendly staff but service could be better. We arrived at 2am and our diamond club room wasn't ready. We could only get an extra hour for checkout as compensation.

This place is one of the best resorts I have been to. The beach is crystal clear, the shore is amazing, there is always people who clean it at the end of the day and the setup is organized. The animation team is the best: they always have something to do like dance classes, spanish lessons, games, parties or pool parties, stretching, aqua gym, challenges... I felt like they were my family and I know them since forever because of their very kind heart, they will always joke around with you and their smiles never leave their face. In my opinion they deserve the best and I miss each one of them so much. The food was really good and the rooms were nice as I expected. After all I really enjoyed this vacation, i would surely do it again and I advise you to try it.

What a wonderful vacation to Cayo Coco Cuba. ⛱
Even though we lost water two days in the week, (one day a half day and one day a full day , no water on the island) the food was tasty (absolutely no complaints with the food ) pineapple juice and rum was my go-to drink, ...., the beach was beautiful, the hotel was clean, the staff was friendly and the entertainment was entertaining . 🎶.

If you can upgrade to the 💎 Diamond club, it's worth it. You get to dine in AC all the time.
If not, there is the general buffet it is not so bad, just really warm in the area, but the food is tasty.

I know many people complained about the flies and mosquitoes, but, this is a hot 🔥 country .. and it's normal... bring bug spray.. I mean, we have annoying flies and mosquitoes in Canada as well.

The Internet is in the lobby and outside sitting area of the lobby, the front desk will give you the username and password . It's valid for 10 hours, and then when it expires, go to the front desk and ask again . If you're lucky, you can get internet at the pool like I did..
(Diamond club has a private AC lobby for internet)

I recommend also taking a classic car (taxi) to the shopping center, La Gaviota, it's a 15 min ride . The taxi driver stays and waits for you and brings you back . You can get really good souvenirs there. Reasonable prices. I'm just saying.

****Fyi (might sound wierd) don't flush the toliet paper in the toliet, it will clog. Use the little trash bin. (the cleaning lady will clean the trash everyday, don't worry.) The drains are smaller than the ones in Canada and it's not biodegradable. 🗑
They are custom to it in 🇨🇺 Cuba.

Plus....go see your tour guide at the lobby on your meeting day , he will explain everything.

oh if you wanna bring money I suggest American dollars for tipping ( if you want) Cuba banks don't take canadian change 1$ 2$. Only paper money.

Resort need some upgrades, touch up, but it's Cuba, so don't expect much. AC was working, hot water was fine.
Plenty of food at the buffet! At the beach there were tacos, grilled chicken, pork and fish, highly recommend!
People could be nicer and faster, but still ok.
Beach is stunning!
Only bad thing was a lots of mosquitoes 🦟

We were there last April. It was awesome and we're planning on back going back this month. See you all soon. Nine more sleeps.
