Mercado de Artesanía, Sarchi

Worth at least one visit. There is a painter on sight painting in real time. Small and crowded with tourist but with one visit wouldn't hurt. There are also wooden items that were hand crafted by locals as well available for sale along with, magnets, furniture, straw bags etc...

We stopped here on the way. I am surprised the postcards are way cheaper than the central market in Alajuela. And the magnets are very comparable, a great place to buy souvenirs. Also, there is a colorful Sarchi sign right outside this place where you can get pictures

This is a nice place to. Shop for souvenirs in Sarchi... It's good and affordable rates. Nice customer service as well.

Uff, very nice, has everything you need to buy for you or a Souvenir. Employees are very nice. An handcraft man that hand paint umbrellas amongst others. If you want you souvenir personalized he will do it with name, flores, heart, etc. The have the "carreras" in al sizes. Many beautiful things in woods. Sachí is famous for the quality of their woods.

We have visited many times in the past several years. Last July I bought a wonderful hand carved rocker. Renald speaks English and the staff is friendly and accommodating. This trip I bought an inside table with 6 chairs, an outside table with 8 chairs and a loving room set with a custom made ottoman. They are going to deliver the furniture upon completion. Quality Furniture mixed in a wonderful souvenir shop. I can't recommend them enough.

This is the main local cathedral style Catholic church for the town of Sarchi. Sarchi is famous for its its hand painted art such as ox cart, feathers, old fashioned coffee maker, etc. Also wood furniture which is hand crafted. The church is covered in both art forms (both painted and carved). The park in front has been recently renovated and houses the largest had painted ox cart. Many souvenirs shops in the area most within walking distance.

Wonderful selection from very skilled craftsmen. Staff is very friendly. Touristy things but also done functional items also. Everything is good quality.
