Hermosa Riders Surf School

Ariel and his team of instructors were fantastic with our group of 5 kids. They were all extremely patient and the kids had a blast! We were planning on one session and the kids begged to come back the following morning as well. Thanks for giving them an amazing experience!!

Ariel is an amazing teacher, highly recommend him! I had a beginners lesson with Ariel and he gave very clear instructions and gave feedback which helped me to improve every try. The sea was a bit rough but he made me feel very safe and confident every second of the lesson. Thank you so much Ariel 🙏

These guys were awesome. These guys had me up and riding waves almost immediately (as a first timer). We had a blast with arial, jesus and Joaquin! They were great teachers.

My 15-year-old son and I had an amazing time with Hermosa surf riders. We spent 3 days surfing with them. We’ve surfed ~20-ish times before so we’re still learning but also have some experience with various teachers and conditions. Ariel is an incredible teacher. He is patient, humble, passionate, detail-oriented and punctual. More importantly he is a great person. The waves were perfect too. Hermosa surf riders truly was the highlight of our Costa Rica trip! We highly recommend Hermosa Surf Riders!!!

Splendid surf school! Ariel and Dorian helped me progress fast, always giving tips on how to improve and changing the size of the board to progress when needed. They always choose great spots too, and it's always a pleasure taking a lesson with them ;)

This was the one of the most incredible experiences of my family's life. My sister has severe intellectual disabilities with also greatly affect her mobility. Usually most activities and excursions are not super accessible. Ariel and his team are AMAZING with adapting surfing so that ANYONE can try it. My mom cried while rewatching the videos of my sister cruising along the waves. Thank you guys for giving my sister such an amazing experience!

Ariel and his crew were fantastic teachers for my kids. They’ve both surfed about 20ish times, but this was the most fun they’ve had yet. I highly recommend this school for all levels of surfers.

Ariel and his team were great mentors. Came back for a second lesson and will be coming back to Costa Rica just for more surfing. They really got me passionate about surfing and I saw great improvement from their lesson!

I had a great time with Hermosa riders! Ariel is a great instructor, speaks good English, can very well explain what you need to improve to catch better waves. They adjust to your individual level so that you have a great time and can catch waves even as a beginner. I strongly recommend!

Ariel has a great surf shop and lessons in Playa Hermosa and Jaco. I took an intermediate lesson and had a blast. He is professional, very patient, and a blast to surf with. I would highly recommend him for any Jaco or Playa Hermosa surf trips!

Hermosa riders helped me fall in love with surfing. I'm a true beginner, but after only a couple lessons with Jesus I feel excited and ready for the next time I can catch a wave! He was very encouraging and taught me the basics I needed to know to feel safe and confident on the board. Ariel the instructor is fantastic. He is an amazing surfer but more importantly he explains and teaches well. My wife and friends had a great time learning from him. Shop has nice selection of boards and were very accommodating. 5/5 for sure!

Ariel and the rest of the guys at Hermosa Riders are great. Everyones english is very good and they were super easy to communicate with over whatsapp for scheduling etc. They have all of the boards you need to gradually progress and they know the various spots extremely well. They are all so patient and will help you with whatever you need in order to become a better surfer. Will be back and would highly recommend to anyone else visiting the Hermosa or Jaco area.

To be honest, I was scared of both the ocean and surfing before booking this lesson, but Ariel created a safe and friendly learning environment! Ariel arranged all the transportation and did a great job of teaching me the basics on the beach and then helping me transfer them to the water. I had such a great time that I came back for a second lesson! The first lesson he did all the hard work, making it easy for me to focus on learning how to stand up. The second time he helped me try bigger and stronger waves. Ariel was very professional and is talented at what he does! I have a new love of surfing and a new respect for surfers.

I took a lesson with them and it was great! Ariel was a great instructor, very patient and spoke good English (my boyfriend doesn't speak Spanish). They provided sunscreen and water during the class. Besides all of these, all the trainers are local, so you get to support the community.

Best place to rent a board! The variety and the quality of the boards stunned me. Joaquin was super helpful with the choice for the right board for me as I didn't know the local conditions and the forecast. Prices are absolutely fair.

Awesome surf teachers at this place. Went out with Ariel for an intermediate lesson. Calm and really great technical feedback. Looking forward to the next one.
