Hacienda Sitio de Mata.

Best tour you can take. Visited hacienda compound where we learned about coffee and the process in harvesting and roasting. Also the processing of sugar cane from squeezing to the making of brown sugar. Church also on site. High on hills of rain forest with views of active volcano and in valley a lake and dam. Very scenic. Was treated to a great lunch and local drink. 2 hour bus ride for anyone on cruise sgip.

The plantation also grows sugar cane. Again the process of extracting and refining the syrup was explained and done in front of us.
Good explanations and time for questions.
The location was spectacular.

We had booked a shore excursion to the Tayutic Hacienda. It was a beautiful drive to the place, very scenic.... took about 2 hrs from Limon. The property is very pretty with gorgeous views of the valley. The coffee bean and sugar demonstration was very entertaining and informative. The people there are very sweet. And later, the lunch was very hearty as well. We sat on a balcony overlooking the valley.... overall, we spent a very relaxing day, definitely recommend.

This is a gorgeous hacienda in the mountains in Costa Rica which is a 2 hour drive from the Caribbean port of limon. They grow organic bananas, macadamia nuts, coffee and sugarcane of first quality. They fully demonstrated how everything was done and we had a nice Costa Rican lunch( rice and beans of course) overlooking a fantastic view! The shop sells their products at a good price and the setting around the chapel is just stunning, a wonderful day out!

This is one of the best excursions that I've ever been on with any cruise. Learning about bananas, coffee, and sugar cane was interesting and informative. Granted, it's not for everyone, especially small children or someone looking for an adrenaline rush, but we had a wonderful time. The narration was interesting and engaging, the mountain top views and lunch were awesome. Everyone involved was friendly and loved what they were doing. Awesome trip if you like to learn through experience -

BEST tour ever!!! Working farm growing coffee, macadamia nuts and sugar cane. We were educated verbally and visually on how these crops are grown and processed. Ate brown sugar and candy made right in front if us. The grounds are beautiful and the lunch served to us was perfection!

Extraordinary view! Lovely place

Beautiful place, the view it’s incredible and the place it’s magic. The staff it was awesome, usually they do tours but also they have a space just for events and weddings. Even though Hacienda de Sitio de Mata it’s a little bit apart of San Jose city (probably 2 hours trip)it’s totally worth it.

This was an excellent excursion booked on Holland America. The hacienda is a working farm where macadamia nuts, coffee, bananas and sugar cane are grown, and the old way of processing sugar cane using oxen to squeeze the juice is demonstrated.

Beautiful view, very friendly family owned restaurant. We tried the lemon pie and ice cream. Both were delicious
