La Ensenada Lodge

This spot was lovely! The views overlooking the ocean are incredible and the birding in the are is top notch! The rooms are in cabins spread around a main field and are pretty large with a king size bed, a private bathroom, a small porch, and a hammock! We ate dinner and breakfast here which cost us $110 for the room and dinner and breakfast for two. It was WARM though! Expect that you'll need to jump in the pool to cool off because it gets pretty hot.

Went there for a weekend of astrophotography and OH MY! The sky there was absolutely perfect! The hotel is located in a beautiful property with a gorgeous view of the Nicoya Gulf. Rooms are basic, with no TV or AC, but that is what I wanted to have: to be able to disconnect and relax. Food is Costa Rican traditional cuisine but the portions are quite generous. Very friendly staff. I will for sure go back next month!

I really enjoyed my stay in an almost perfect location

It's a very natural and wonderful wild field resort , you can enjoy the land, grass,forest and multiple diversity of animals. Full of relaxing and amusement since you will encounter many species of monkey,birds and iguana....out of your experience,but you had better to hire a bird guide with you ,then it will more fun and discovering adventure.

We stayed two nights at La Ensenada Lodge in early June. We were in a standard cabin. The cabins are rustic, but clean. They do get very warm during the day. Afternoon rain cooled it off some. The storm on the first evening had lightning, loud thunder, and heavy rain. The dining hall staff served tasty buffet meals.

This is a working cattle and horse ranch. There are well marked trails throughout the lodge grounds. We saw several interesting birds on the trail above the high-water mark. A longer hike took us to a primary forest section and through an area with pines and eucalyptus trees planted long ago by the family. We enjoyed an early morning boat tour through mangroves and to Isla Yuca (a bird sanctuary island).

Absolutely the best place around the area, full of nature. Monkeys might wake you up in the morning bur that just shows how close it is with nature

Great, varied experiences with knowledgeable guides. The Mangrove tour was memorable. Super relaxed atmosphere. Most enjoyable

This is a unique spot. The family is running a ranch while protecting habitat and providing a nice ecolodge. The staff are wonderful. I will return.

This is a wonderful lodge with beautiful views of the Pacific, nice walking trails, and good food. It’s an excellent place for birdwatching.

What a wonderful place to forget about everything! Great views of the golf of Nicoya, dramatic sunsets and lots of birds to photograph!

Et fantastisk sted med skøn placering og masse af dyreliv - fugle, tudser, aber. Deltog i bådtur til Palo Verde, så masser af dyreliv.
Maden er god, kaffen fantastisk og personalet meget venlige. Jeg skal helt sikkert tilbage til dette dejlige sted

El lugar es precioso, donde se pueden tomar fotos de calendario, en especial de los atardeceres.
Solamente este listo a literalmente desenchufarte del mundo, ya que en las habitaciones no hay televisión, solamente el restaurante tiene WiFi y la cobertura celular es pésima en este sitio. Y todo eso es genial!!! Ya que te permite compartir con tu familia como tiene que ser.
Recomendaciones:
Lleven juegos de mesa, buena cámara, ropa cómoda para caminar en los senderos y mucho repelente ya que esta rodeado de esteros y por lo tanto hay mucho sancudo.

Nous y avons séjourné une nuit avant de partir pour Paquera, de l'autre côté du golfe. Quel bel endroit, fréquenté surtout par des locaux, à l'époque où nous y étions (fin mars) ! On dort dans de petits chalets en bois ombragés, au bord d'une grande pelouse qui s'étend vers la mer. La piscine et le restaurant sont très agréables. Nous avons fait le sentier qui mène au mirador, époustouflant au coucher du soleil, dominant le golfe de Nicoya et les nombreuses îles qui s'y trouvent. Le lodge propose aussi une superbe balade matinale en bateau pour voir les oiseaux de la mangrove et des îlots alentour pour un prix très raisonnable. Et tout cela dans une atmosphère authentique, loin des chemins touristiques habituels. Une découverte qui nous a enchantés !

Un lugar bellísimo para descansar. Buenísima comida y excelente atención.

Ontzettende mooie afgelegen locatie. Rust en enorm mooie uitzichten kenmerken deze plek. Omdat het zo afgelegen ligt ben je wel ‘verplicht’ om naast ontbijt er ook te lunchen en avondeten. Maar de staff maakte iedere keer er weer een gezond gerecht van. Lodges charmant, beetje gedateerd en hygiene kon iets beter. Desondanks 5-sterren.

Exclente lugar para descansar y compartir con familia y amigos. Lejos del bullicio, podés observar muchos animales silvestres y aves. Los congos llegan cerca de las cabañas y es fácil y fascinante verlos en familia. Si te gusta la bici de montaña o caminar, encontrarás innumerable cantidad se rutas y opciones. Hay cabalgatas y un muelle para excursiones por loa manglares cercanos y la isla de Chira. Los propietarios a menudo se encuentran en la propiedad y le dan un toque de calor humano que hace todavía mas hermosa la estadía. Lo recomiendo.
