Blue River Resort & Hot Springs

This is one of my favorite resort with amazing hot springs based on natural volcanic blue water and water slide! It has 6 springs with various temperature from hot, warm to cold. It has beautiful trees and garden everywhere. And It has a restaurant inside too and not too crowded so it is perfect for relaxation after the big hikes at the national parks.

Only thing is to get there was quite difficult to drive, because the road is not so stable. It is like 1.5 hour difficult drive from where we started and this spring resort welcomes you to relax. And very reasonable price for what they offer at their beautiful place.

This place is beautiful! Lots of nature and animals around. We saw Sloth, Tucans, and monkeys just outside the resort.
The food was incredible. Every meal we ordered was delicious. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful.
The only downside is the drive to the resort. The last ~30km took about 1 hour to drive. Most of the road is unpaved and washed out by heavy rain.
The crowd was on the older side when we went, but our kids still had a great time seeing all the animals.

Every single staff member was incredible. Super friendly bartenders and tour guides were phenomenal. We saw a sloth on the property as well as toucans.

There is not much to do in the surrounding area but the resort had enough activities to keep us occupied. Hot springs were also amazing. Thanks everyone for the great service and we will be back any time we are in the area.

This is a beautiful resort. The staff is excellent. The activities on the resort are a great value.Keynor, Kevin and Keylor are 3 brothers who work at the resort are fantastic. We did the tubing, cathedral waterfall and zip line all were great. The hotsprings were also very nice. It is a ride to get to the resort but well worth the trip.

We took a day trip to Blue River and loved every minute. Javier was great from the first time we reached out. The pools were wonderful and the staff and lunch were outstanding. In the afternoon Ronald took us on a hike to the waterfall - what an adventure. He showed us local fruit trees and animals. And it felt like such a treat to see such a special place and splash in the water at the base of the falls.

I recently stayed at this resort and it offered a comfortable experience. The resort's waterfall tour and hot springs, were my primary reason for choosing it, and they did not disappoint.

The lodges are nice and provide private, spacious cabins that are well-maintained and free from pests like insects and mosquitoes. The resort boasts a several pool and even more impressive hot springs, which are a must. The resort was tidy, and it offers great value for the price.

A bonus is the variety of activities available onsite. There is a butterfly garden, a botanical garden, and a natural sauna, in addition to the pools and hot springs, ensuring that there's something to do during a 2-3 day stay. However, it's worth noting that the location is somewhat remote and can be time-consuming to reach. The spa services offered are good and well priced.

My only critique would be the food. While it was fresh, typical of Costa Rica, the preparation didn't quite meet my expectations. It wasn't a deal breaker, but there's room for improvement.

Overall, I would definitely recommend this resort. It's particularly ideal if you're planning to visit the El Santuario Waterfall, which is a breathtaking sight. (in my top two waterfall I've ever visited. I've seen eight to date.) If you're looking for a getaway with a touch of adventure, this resort is a great choice.

Beyond impressed with this find. The resort is organized, is extremely large, very well manicured and the staff is amazing. From time of check-in til check-out I have been wowed. The food is incredible and the drinks are amazing. Noel, Lester and Keylor’s service at the restaurant/bar have been epic, funny and the music is perfect. The grounds are incredible, the thermal baths authentic and hotter than any in La Fortuna. The rooms are spacious and although dated, they are perfectly cleaned. Cute little cabins. The road in is bumpy, but totally worth the ride. Can’t wait to return. Oh…and the spa…WOW. Aurora is phenomenal. And the gym perfect.

From beginning till the end this place was truly paradise on Earth! I came with my bf for about one week, and this place is gorgeous everywhere you look. It’s paradise on earth! Ronald is the absolute best tour guide, he was with us for every excursion. We loved zip lining, some of the lines we did upside down which was awesome! They kept us safe the whole time. Keylor is awesome he was an amazing server and also helped me when we did tubing! It was really fun and adventurous! We saw twin water falls on horse back riding, Ronald showed us the best fruits of Costa Rica and we ate off trees! Javier was so kind and went to town to bring me headache medicine and hair conditioner so make sure to bring your own. The chef was amazing, he made things just for us not on menu. We got really tasty Ceviche . Noel is the best bartender and food was amazing! I would recommend wearing leggings for the excursions, bring water proof phone case, cash for tips and bug spray! Rooms were huge, pillows and bed were so comfortable! Breakfast is free and they change it up a little bit each day. Coffee in the room was really good. Hot springs were all different temperatures it was FRIKEN awesome! I had hot stone massage and Swedish it was so relaxing she did a great job. Souvenirs were cheap at the restaurant , food was amazing and not too expensive. I can’t wait to come back! PURA VIDA 🫶

Beautiful place with incredible thermal pools open all day and til 10pm at night. Amazing sense of oneness to be held in the thermal waters of a pool at night, or in the day, watching the light change, seeing the rain on the water as you're inside the rainforest at this hotel.
The rooms are huge and so lovely, bed is fantastically comfortable.

This place was beautiful. The staff was so great and helpful. We also booked the Dreams hike with Ronald who was so knowledgeable of the different wildlife in Costa Rica. I would definitely recommend this place! I just wish we would've stayed longer.

This resort delivered everything I was looking for and more. The stand was so hospitable and professional. We were a family of 6 and never needed for anything. Ronald our tour guide was the best. He took us on every tour we asked about. Thank you Ronald for being such an amazing tour guide. Thanks to Rosie, Paola, Keylor, Noel, Lester, Kevin and the Chef. I will never forget this trip. The staff also gave me a surprise birthday party, and boy was I surprised. Our special needs young men went zip lining with myself, tour guides Ronald and Keylor. We had a blast. The young men will never forget this. Thank you all for showing us an amazing time on our vacation. We will be returning again next year bringing family and friends along with us.

Blue River Resort is everything and then some! Absolutely the most breathtaking visit I've ever taken! The peace and quiet, yoga, mineral springs and staff were exceptional! Satisfaction guaranteed! Great wait staff and tour guides!

Very nice large rooms, staff were very friendly and great. Dinner service staff were great, but it did take a while to get our food, but that may have been because we were a large group. But the food was tasty. Lovely place. Loved the hot pools.

Really enjoyed hanging out here for a few hours before our tour at sensoria began. The property is huge and beautiful to walk around, lots of amenities to enjoy, many gardens, pools, hot springs and very family friendly. If I had kids I would stay here. Fun slide In the pools and a Dino park tour looked fun for the little ones 37$usd for the day pass and that includes a big lunch that was traditional Costa Rican food and was delicious. Really enjoyed our time relaxing around this resort we came on a Sunday afternoon during dry season and it was not crowded at all

Absolutely love this place. The staff are the best. The lighting was a challenge for my partner. But understandable with eco friendly property. We had a guided tour (Horses) with A Guide named Joevanni. Simply one of the bests I've ever had.
Natural sauna and hot springs..just incredible.

A true paradise! We stayed 3 nights! Loved the hot springs, water slide, our room, the botanical gardens and the food!!! Great staff and reasonable prices on food and drinks! Free breakfast which was great!

The amenities were amazing. The rooms were clean and well kept (although mine didn't have hot water). The excursions were fairly priced. As a single mom, I traveled with my 7 year old. She was treated with the utmost respect and tenderness on all the excursions and within the resort. The staff was wonderful. Their friendliness speaks volumes about the leadership there. The location was a tenous drive but it was worth it. I hope Costa Rica stays untouched. This area was pristine. And each night the wildlife lulled us to sleep. This is a gem. Definitely worth the trip!

Stayed in 5 different places in Costa Rica and Blue River was by far the nicest accommodations. Room (like a log cabin) was spacious and the beds were comfortable. Food was great, grounds are lush and lovely. What a terrific spot!

If you want to get off the beaten path, this is the place. Rooms are large and clean. I enjoyed the thermal pools and the regular pools - there were more than I realized. I had them to myself for the most part. Nice areas to walk around and staff super friendly! I definitely recommend tubing the river, just know you will fall out. It's white water in a tube! Breakfast is included in the room along with parking and wifi. The road getting there is an adventure; I had a compact rental but got there no problem. There weren't any gas stations nearby but a pulperia sold gas in gallon jugs!
