Caimán del Río

Very nice place by the river with a huge variety of foods and drinks. Definitely a nice place to go near sunset time.

I visited this very popular spot for locals and tourists alike in Barranquilla Colombia, located along the banks of the Magdalena River, in the Malecon (stone-bilt embankment) This is more than just a place to come and visit, take a few pictures, and go. NO, you HAVE to experience it ALL. Starts with the party boat (buy the tickets in advance), which takes you along the river for a two hour navigation up to the old, and new bridge that connects Barranquilla and the road to Santa Marta. It's a slow progression from when you board and find a place to sit, and everyone is just enjoying the picturesque views of the city as you travel along the river. Then, somewhere in between the DJ starts the music, there's a small bar that caters to beer and hard liquor, and everyone starts dancing nonstop. The locals and tourists mingling, dancing, laughing, simply put enjoying life without a care in the world! The boat departed around 4:30 pm, and returned around 6:30 pm. By this time, the group i was with we're all hungry, and a short distance from the boat was the place that holds tremendous amount of Colombian gastronomy, Caiman del Rio. Listen, it is not a pier or restaurant row. One large building that engulfs about 20-25 small restaurants with all types of foods. From finger food, pizza, meat, seafood, fish, and lots to drink. Sort of like a food court on steroids. It is family friendly. We hung out until one in the morning. Time flew by, and didn't notice it. This is a must stop place in Barranquilla or Quilla. Colombians know how to have a good time and are friendly. There's lots of security activity in the area in case you're wondering. This is the place where the Carnaval de Barranquilla goes through. Celebrated towards the end of February each year. I'm planning that trip for 2025. Anyway, i encourage you to visit highly el Caiman del Rio you want be disappointed.

Just visited Pescayé at Caiman del Rio it’s a gem for fried fish lovers! Their Caribbean -style fried fish was a revelation – perfectly crispy on the outside, tender and flavorful on the inside. Paired with their unique sides, like Fry Yuca and a patacones ( green fry plantain), each bite was a taste of the Caribbean . The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, making you feel right at home. Exceptional service added to the experience. Definitely a must-try spot!

Very inexpensive and with lots of options to choose from. Personally recommend the Passion Fruit beer sold in 'Magdalena'

Excellent place for being at the river shore. The variety of food, drinks and a relaxing atmosphere invite you to stay a little longer. Also good for a bicycle ride or just a walk along the river. I very recommend this site.

Best place to dine by the riverside, a Lott of restaurants options but is not cheap place, More touristic price oriented, but worth the visit

Unfortunately the river is contaminated....the place is an open and nice place to walk or practice some sports.

Cool place to hang out and see the river. There was a cool breeze on a June afternoon and it felt great. There were a ton of restaurants in the main building that had something for everyone. Cool place in Barranquilla!
