Excellent spot!
Had delicious lentil & pumpkin soups, served with freshly baked bread as entry. And the masterpiece : grilled beef steak with the sauce option: ‘wine and berries’ as main course.

Ok, first at all this is a jewel in the middle of La Candelaria. This restaurant makes you feel at home, they owners and their assistants are very welcoming and will guide you through the menu.

It's been more than 10 years since we come to eat here every time visiting Bogotá.
It's suggested by their owners doing reservation if you don't want to wait too long.

We give us a 2hrs lunch to enjoy included the walk until the place.

Our favorite lunch includes lentils, lemonade with lulo, chicken with dried tomatoes.

Ask for the bread to go! Sometimes they have extra rolls to sell.

Ive never had a more sweet elderly man/owner provide a fantastic experience. His charm and care for our experience was adorable as he took our order. It was apparent that he loves people and wants them to feel at home(which you are). A lovely one of a kind experience.

A lovely meal in a beautiful colonial building with many dining rooms. The attention from the couple that runs it and their staff is excellent, and the food is filling and delicious. We had lentil soup to start, followed by stuffed chicken breast and salmon in tomato sauce, and a brownie to finish. If I could give a sixth star for service, I would. Maria Candelaria is a treasure. To the traveller: it is a bit hard to find, as its entrance is recessed and difficult to see from the sidewalk. Additionally, you need to knock for them to let you in, as they keep the door locked. Once you are in, however, you are in for a treat.

The setting is charmingly rough-around-the edges, but comfortable and homey. The waitstaff is extraordinarily friendly (and patient with my broken Spanish), and will walk you through the menu. Their lunch special can't be beat on price or taste, including a simple but delicious soup, a drink, and an entree. They will recommend the Pollo Relleno (stuffed chicken), and be right to do so. Any of the fillings are delicious, but I like the Jamón (ham).

I will certainly be returning the next time I am in Bogota.

Awesome authentic Bogotá restaurant, its owners are very kind and take personalized care of their customers, food is freshly made, and the atmosphere was very enjoyable, the location keeps its traditional old look of La Candelaria neighborhood.

Too little time in Bogota or I would have eaten here every day. Such warmth and hospitality shown by the host and hostess. As a solo traveller I felt right at home. Cozy, casual, and delicious food cooked by Maria herself. The perfect way to start my trip. Thank you again! Willem

Charming owners and house, with delicious food on cast iron pans in the oven. Make sure to ask for cuajada con melado when you arrive, so they baked it for dessert
