British Grocer - Oakville

Quite simply, if you are looking for something from your childhood in the UK, chances are something in this store will help trigger those fond memories. My Dad loves his Sausage Rolls and they had loads when I was there. It was a nice surprise for him along with some lemon drop candies. Lots of sweets to choose from. I think the owners do a splendid job getting these items stocked for us. The store was busy when I was there and that's a good sign. We went on a Sunday and parking just around the corner. Located in beautiful downtown Oakville. Cheers to all the people that put this all together.

Honestly bigger than I had expected, a wonderful variety of various kinds of British goods, very friendly staff, and overall wonderful environment on the inside and has exactly what you need. Most definitely will come back.

Cute little shop in a perfect location. Neatly organized and very welcoming. You can find all your loved British items here. They have a good selection of both prepackaged items and baked goods. We bought a pack of sausage rolls which were truly amazing. My husband who is from the UK said they tasted just like home. Looking forward to visiting again and trying more of their locally made baked goods.

I have been coming to The British Grocer in Downtown Oakville for about 1 year and a bit, possibly 2. I can’t remember! But this store has become one of my favourites! The staff are always so welcoming and helpful. The treats are my favourite. I have a major sweet tooth and always love trying out the different candies! My favourites have been the Shocker sour bars, or the spearmint chews. I also love the Halls throat soothers in Strawberry. Helpful when you have a sore throat! Recently I have loved the Bubble Gum, and the Fruit Salad chewy candy! I cannot wait to visit again and see what is new to try!

Lots of different British things, from fresh baked goods, frozen pies and sausages to mugs, tea towels and seasonal candy. The staff are very friendly. Dog friendly aswell which is very nice.

I recently moved to Oakville and decided to stop into this little shop because it looked very welcoming! I was greeted by a lovely lady named Janet and the owner Sean who helped me pick out a few items. I landed on the sausage rolls and one of their baked goods, an empire biscuit. Both were amazing! I cannot wait to go back and try some of the meat pies that they make!

We walked by the shop and popped in not expecting much. After browsing through the shelves we noticed that they had a fridger/freezer at the back. It had lots of locally-made (in Burlington) British-style pies etc. so we randomly picked a few different ones, sausage rolls and some potato scones, then at the front of the shop we noticed they had British-style cakes so we picked custard slices, eccles cakes, current slices, scones, and and... Despite COVID we thought they were quite well stocked with goodies (must be very difficult in these times). We came home, opened the bags and had them all (wait... did we eat all of these... yes we did!) and we really liked them all! They tasted very homey and yummy. For the quality (and considering the efforts and labour to make them from the scratch) we thought the prices were quite reasonable. We should now try their shop in Burlington, too, but we'll be back to this shop in Oakville for sure. I would highly recommend their pies and cakes here!

A quaint store with a variety of options and excellent customer service. The frozen food is incredible and the selection of British treats is extensive. The store also has made great effort in keeping everything clean and sanitized. I would highly recommend giving this great store a try.

Stumbled upon this place on a drive down Lakeshore and was very pleasantly surprised. There was a parking spot right out front which was just fate smiling down on us and showing us that we weren't meant to stop in.

Great selection of groceries and very reasonable prices too. Especially enjoyed the variety of crisps available. Definitely reminded us of home. Owner was very nice as was the cashier.

This is an excellent excellent store - full marks to them for their goods and customer service and their gracious staff and managers Linda and of course their very nice owner - Shawn - of whom we have been patrons for years.
We recommend them to everyone and we wish them success in all their endeavours....

The Neopolitan slice is amazing! Happened upon this shop when visiting the downtown and found an amazing selection of food and treats and some of the best pastries I've ever tried at a British grocer that imports! Loved all the treats and chocolates in the lower section. Have traveled from Newmarket twice in the past two months and this is first on my list when visiting here. Trying to find an excuse to come back again soon! Dangerous for sweet tooths! Lol

So many cool items for those of us who have no idea what we're looking for. However the frozen section is truly filled with everything you want to stock up on. I'm drooling just thinking about. A very dangerous store for those of us who love trying new things and love snacks.

Best bangers I've ever had. Authentic british selectuon. Homemade meats, great service. Owner is a delight. I live in the neighborhood and love having it as a part of the community. Keep up the good work!
