Brown Dog Kitchen

Brown Dog Kitchen is an absolute gem! The food is authentic, fantastic, flavourful and consistently surpasses expectation. Not surprising as the team is genuinely caring and incredibly skilled! Tucked into the community hub, Brown Dog is a lovely walk to the Historic Gardens, the Fort, waterfront ... and two steps from the library! Whether you eat in or get takeout to explore Annapolis, your heart and palate will be nourished. Beyond grateful to have such wonderful food and people in our community!

Brown Dog is one of my favorite restaurants in Annapolis Royal. For a visitor, it can be a little hard to find -- tucked in behind a condo complex (in a former school), inside a charming library/community space. The food has always been outstanding -- I go home trying to recreate Lara's curry pies -- I'm close, but not there yet - and always take home some butter tarts as a treat. I'm a part time resident of the area and this is always one of my first stops when I arrive.

I love going here for a nice lunch with my coworkers. I know they've had some menu changes since I was last there, but I love the halloumi sandwich and highly recommend it if they still have it. Even my kiddo enjoys eating here and gets a bacon and egg sandwich. It's a nice relaxed place. Sometimes it's a bit of a wait but when you're getting quality fresh food, it's worth it!

Great homemade food, generous portions and excellent service. Their Butter Chicken is truly delicious! Can't wait to come back to enjoy other items on their menu.

Lara and Chris run a wonderful food establishment. We’ve been coming to Brown Dog Kitchen weekly since it opened. The food is cooked beautifully and they are very accommodating to our children. The space is clean and is centrally located next to the public library. Both Chris and Lara go above and beyond to provide healthy and flavourful meals.

We absolutely loved the food! We ordered chicken skewers with rice and a hamburger patty sandwich with fries, nothing fancy, but extremely delicious. Great customer service also! Thank you, guys!

Stopped by today to check out the new menu and try some samples. It smelled so good when I walked in the door! Everything I tried was delicious and the staff were very friendly.

Great breakfasts here…eggs Benny, breakfast sandwiches, butter tarts. The baked sweets are def homemade and so far, very moreish. Great fast and friendly service, coffee refills, always clean.

Had a wonderful experience at the reopening of the Brown Dog Kitchen with wonderful choices that we all found delicious plus regular fare. Wonderful to have this ethnic addition to the town of Annapolis.

Love this little hidden gem! The Brown Dog makes the best breakfast sandwich I’ve ever had. Vegetarian options, very friendly owners who put immense pride into their food and are huge community supporters.

Always a wonderful and cheerful meal. Lara whips up the most delicious curries, sandwiches, and breakfasts! :) The Grilled halloumi sandwich is wonderful as is breakfast sandwiches and all the curries! I’m always there so I don’t need to say I’ll be back!

I love everything I've tried here. But I can't stop ordering the Beef curry! I could eat it everyday! Best food and service around!

Found this place from Google, and it turned out to be a great little hole in the wall! We came in with 6 people, and there was just one person cooking, so we were expecting the food to take a bit longer but it was only 20-30 minutes! The food was made from fresh, quality ingredients, that were cooked to order. All of the meals were very tasty and very reasonably priced. Definitely worth checking out if you’re in the area!

Just had the curry puffs!! Off the charts good. I’ll be back all the time.

Lara's food is excellent. I eat here frequently when at the library. Fresh and tasty food. Awesome sandwiches and savoury pies, and the butter tarts are to die for.

Was passing through the area and found the Brown Dog Kitchen for breakfast. My company and I had the breakfast sandwich with avocado, and also the breakfast plate. Both were exceptionally excellent, especially the wood smoked bacon with the extra crisp as asked was perfect. Very cute area utilizing the town’s old school but modern menu and lovely staff. Great breakfast spot!! Thanks

Came through here on a trip to Brier Island, very good food and friendly staff. Really neat location too, with the library and community building. Would love to visit again next time we're in the area.

We've always enjoyed the food that Lara and Chris make and the hospitality they provide.

Was in this very special part of the province a couple weekends ago and Brown Dog Kitchen was recommended by a local for breakfast. The food was superb and the staff were just lovely; the building is beyond "quaint" in the nicest way. Thank you very much for a wonderful dining experience.
