I didn't really like the Reuben Sandwich, I just wanted to give it a try, but I know that the other menu items smell like they taste very good. Never had the Reuben before that's why. It's very small space here with many customers. Not really that comfortable but it shows you this place is popular. Great service as well.

Go where the locals go! A highly recommended breakfast spot in East City Peterborough with a loyal following. The food is excellent and the atmosphere is a cool ptbo vibe. There is a beautiful interior with old style booth or bar seating. In the summer months, there is a cool sunny patio area. Trust me, you want bacon, homefries and eggs cooked to perfection? Stop by East City Coffee Shop!

Update: I had no idea that Alban served soup and it was delicious! A Sweet Potato Coconut Curry blend. My favourite!

We have eaten here many times over the years. Loved it when the Mom and Dad ran it, love it now. Husband loves the huge breakfast plate. I can't eat that much. Ordered a peameal,Lettuce,Tomato with Mayo on Rye. Best sandwich I ever had.

1st visit to this dinner. It is an open kitchen dinner with a nostalgic feel complete with a old time cash register. Yes it is cash only. The breakfast special was tasty. I especially liked that they grilled the sausage and didn't deep fry it. The egg salad sandwich was very good and fresh.

I’ve been living in Peterborough for years and have heard nothing but good things about this shop. I have friends that come in from Lakefield just to have breakfast here. I finally decided to come out and see what the hype was all about. I honestly can’t even say much but WOW! The customer service is truly exceptional! It’s usually busy with the shop being open for prime breakfast time but you don’t necessarily feel it. The staff is so welcoming and take the initiative to make you feel like your apart of their family. The food is just amazing and the homefries are literally the best in town. This is my new breakfast spot. I’m so mad I didn’t come here earlier but I’m beyond happy to have a gem like this in town.

Went there last week for the frist time. Atmosphere old school love it. Family owned you can tell they are amazing people. And all I have to say it was literally the best breakfast i've ever had . I got the hungry man . I'm not going to go into detail. Just go and have a breakfast trust me.

The owner probably knows exactly how many people are in the restaurant at any given time. He sees all. It makes for great service.

Sooo good! Haven't visited in years, but breakfast was so awesome this morning we will definitely be back more often! The homefries are spectacular, and I really appreciated how toasted the English muffin was for my eggs benedict! Perfect! Most places do not toast the English muffin anywhere near as much as it needs to be. Generous portions and plenty of refills on the coffee & tea! Good thing to know in advance, it is cash only. See you next time!! 😊

Had a terrific breakfast at the East City Cafe with my daughter and two Grands. Excellent atmosphere, food and service. We are all looking forward to our next meal here. ❤🍴

A local classic. Cozy atmosphere, friendly service and great food. The home fries are the best around.

Good all around restaurant, but I can only talk about breakfast. The breakfast was quite tasty. Coffee was reasonably good. The bacon, eggs and sausages were very good. The French Toast with cinnamon was delicious. Breakfast for three: $50. Cash only accepted.

A lovely lil Cafe diner with great food- had the breakfast special and everything was perfect, no wonder it's a city favorite! Bring cash, get there as early as you can to snag a booth, and enjoy this hidden gem of East city. I'll be back for sure!

Favourite breakfast place in Peterborough. I've been here a bunch of times and never once was it bad. Amazing service, excellent food and a welcoming place. If you've never eaten here you're missing out.

Excellent coffee, friendly staff, get your coffee here instead of Tim Hortons, you’ll thank yourself for it.

Exactly what you want from a casual fast and furious breakfast joint. Sitting at the bar and watching the open kitchen was a blast!
