Perhaps I shouldn't be stating this publicly but two of the best beaches on the mainland coast lie 1,500 metres apart, about 18 kilometres south of Powell River. One is Palm Beach, easily accessible from the park and the other is Mahood's Beach, a little closer to town. Both are relatively safe, sandy spots, suitable for the entire family. Photos are from Palm Beach, summer of 2021.

Limited parking, big beach on the ocean. Lots of logs on the beach, best swimming when tide comes in. Lots of shells, snakes in the rocks becareful. No restrooms.

Had an amazing time walking the beach and staring out on the ocean. Great views of distant islands on the horizon. Also a treat if you like hiking on the rocks!

Love Palm Beach in Powell River South. Something for everyone! Easy to park. Washrooms. Grassy area. Nice sand beach you can walk on. Tennis & pickleball courts.

Amazing beach to swim at. I come on down every summer and bring out the paddle board. The dogs love a walk along the beach

One of the nicest beaches with open space for families to hang out a whole day. Even has a small playground, benches, covered area for picnics. Highly recommended for young families or big groups

I love this beach. I take my daughter here when I’m near by. Brings back a lot of good memories.

Bathrooms are open into October at least. Great view from the beach with lots of near stuff for children like driftwood and rocks 🪨

Such a gorgeous spot on the beach. Not many "palms" around, but at low tide, the sand is squishy and fun to play in...must be lots of clams there.

We shared an amazing day out at the beach. They had a nice picnic area, playground and of course when the tide is out you get a wonderful, sandy beach.

Beautiful and clean sandy beach (in low tide) located next to huge green space ideal for large groups or families with young kids. There is a small playground, lots of benches and a picnic shelter. Such clear water. A must see! Sand only visible during low tide.

Beautiful open ocean view with plenty of space for long walks on the beach, there is a large field, covered area to eat and a park for the kids. The outhouse and washrooms are kept in good condition, the beach is kept clean and there is full access all year round with some large events taking place on occasion.

I love this beach for the expansive view and the pockets of sand to relax on. The playground makes the little ones happy. It's a nice beach to walk and explore from one end to another. There are quite a few residences but it still feels very much available to everyone. The estuary is a bird magnet. Enjoy and please take care of this beach.

Beautiful beach with sand out at low tide. Washroom facilities are clean flush toilets. Playground, BBQ hut, kitchen with covered area. Large field and beautiful views! Love this beach⁹

My favorite Beach in the area. The view from the beach is spectacular and you can walk from end to end and see very different topography with a rocky point to the right. It is not the sandiest beach around but once you get past the rocks at the beach it is sandy underneath the water, though very shallow so you have to walk quite a ways to get any depth. After going there today I realized it was a little different between high tide and low tide. At high tide there is a little incline but at low tide it is very flat. No big waves here. Very few people seem to come during the week. There is a bathroom closer to the parking lot. The beach is about a three-minute walk from the parking lot depending on how much stuff you are carrying I guess! There's also a large park for picnics with some picnic tables on the way to the beach and a small playground for the kids near the bathroom. There is a small market just up the street from the park that sells snacks and drinks if you forgot anything. A lovely spot ❤
