Ryans Castle

My husband, Sean, and I had the great pleasure of celebrating our 15th Wedding Anniversary at Ryan’s Castle! We actually live nearby, so this was a staycation for us. It was nice to get a taste of Europe without the hassle of flying and making pet-care arrangements, etc.

We were blown away the instant we walked into our private castle. Truly a feast for the eyes! The heated granite flooring was so welcoming after stepping in from the cold outdoors. We slowly made our way past the impressive fireplace, fully stocked bar, elegant dining area, cozy lounge, and through the magnificent chapel into the luxurious bedroom suite. We knew we were in for a pampered experience when we spotted the box of quality chocolates placed next to the pillows. Another unexpected extra was the cappuccinos. Best I’ve ever had!

Ed (aka Charles or Ryan) is a phenomenal host and all-around great guy! There was an abundance of food and beverage selections, with absolutely no additional charges. Whatever we were in the mood for, at whatever time we preferred it, Ed graciously accommodated us. He even adjusted the temperature of the usually warm pool to my husband’s cooler preference. (I’m sure that request was a first for him. lol).

We didn’t have the pleasure of meeting the lady of the house, but I was very impressed by her exquisite design and décor. Barb clearly knows what she’s doing and it’s evident she does her research. She and her husband’s execution is both realistic and luxurious. We truly experienced what it was to live as a king and queen for a day. Yes, royalty actually had a private chapel and dining area directly off their bedroom!

My favourite part of the castle was the bathroom. The stained-glass arched doors leading to the raised clawfoot tub took my breath away! I escaped to another time and place as I soaked in the Epsom salts by candlelight, while listening to my classical playlist.

Speaking of music, we really liked the jazz that was playing while we enjoyed our poolside meals . And what an amazing breakfast! Still dreaming of those delicious fresh-fruit filled pancakes.

We would have preferred a high-tea lunch, as advertised, but can’t complain as we lacked for nothing! While the candlelight dinner was romantic and the service was superb, the meal is not what we imagined. The stuffed salmon was tasty and cooked to perfection, but it was familiar to us. We’ve purchased the same prepared salmon many times. We were looking forward to experiencing a unique flavour. Some of the lunch items and dressings were also familiar to us. It seems their chef was, understandably, unavailable on the short notice we gave. It was very nice of them to accommodate us with only a day’s notice!

As is evident from my many positive comments and five star rating, the experience was, ultimately, excellent!

My husband surprised me for my birthday and I'm still in awe! If you want to go back in time and be treated like royalty, this is the place to go! Loved it here! Charles and Barb were so kind and graciously took pictures of us. Magical, mystical and magnificent!

What an amazing place!!! Pictures do not even begin to explain what feelings do you get through the moment you drive up to the castle, tour it’s unbelievable inside, spend time socializing and taking it in and to the moment you have to leave. Hosts are fantastic, experience is unmatched and the set up is unbelievable. You have to go and see it.

This was most of the most amazing experiences of my life. My wife and I were in search of somewhere amazing to celebrate our love for one another on our anniversary each year and Ryan's castle met every expectation we could ever had asked for and then some. It was magnificent. Everything about it was over the top: The food, the atmosphere, the service. Absolutely top notch. I cannot wait to go back and stay again. Thank you to the Ryan's for making the experience so memorable and for creating such an amazing place for people to experience themselves. In my opinion 5 stars isn't a strong enough rating for this venue. 10 stars would better sum it up.

Love! Love! This place! Amazing and welcoming! I had my small wedding there last Sunday and the hosts were so very helpful. It was such a great experience to be married at the castle. I can’t wait to see my wedding photography. The photos of the inside online don’t do it justice. It is the most beautiful venue!

A truly magical experience. I planned a trip here with my wife after seeing a news article about the castle. She had been telling me how she had wanted to stay in a castle, and this seemed serendipitous. It was as gorgeous as I could have hoped. Furthermore, the private dinner from chef Pat was both elegant and delicious. While the room and food were better than I could have ever hoped, it was the hospitality of the hosts that really pushed the experience to the next level. Charles and Barbara were gracious, kind, and courteous throughout our entire stay. It's not just that they did a great job, they surpassed the job. My wife and I felt like personal guests to them. They spoke to us for hours both days we were there, and we never ran out of topics to discuss. In particular, if you're religious they have a very large collection of Catholic relics that you may find interesting. While the price for a single night is not cheap, I don't regret it one bit. I was able to make my wife's dream of staying in a castle come true, and met a wonderful couple at the same time.

My husband surprised me with a weekend getaway to this amazing place. It is no exaggeration that it was a real life fairy tale. Every single aspect of the Castle was beautiful. Our gracious hosts clearly thought of everything, and every detail was perfect.
The castle itself is an amazing piece of architecture. But it’s the decor and artwork that turn it into a dream come true. The historical pieces, combined with beautiful design will make you feel like royalty.
Charles and Barbara are excellent hosts. They thought of every single thing you could need and have provided it for you. My husband and I enjoyed our conversations and felt welcome as soon as we walked in the door.
I also have to recommend choosing the personal chef option. Pat is an EXCEPTIONAL chef, and is incredibly professional. He clearly has a passion for his craft and it shows!

I can’t say enough how wonderful our stay was. We hope to be back soon!

Such a fantastic experience. As soon as we arrived we had an incredible time. Afternoon tea was decadent, sandwiches, meets, cheeses...expertly prepared. Drinks, snacks, chocolate, all provided and included! The swimming pool was exceptional, plus it was all for us, no sharing to be done! Charles and Barb were checking in with us frequently, ensuring our wishes were met (but usually exceeded)!

The second night we had a scrumptious meal prepared by our own personal chef. Take note, you might want to fast before you go to Ryan’s Castle...food everywhere and so good!

One of our favourite experiences was relaxing with our hosts, Charles and Barb. Such gracious hosts, wonderful to visit with. Gave us a tour of the entire castle, shared many of the artifacts and relics they have collected through the years...incredible conversation with genuine people.

My wife and I stayed at Ryans Castle for her birthday last weekend, and it was truly incredible!

I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a truly unique experience!
We ordered a personal chef they had and had one of the most pleasant, relaxing experiences in a long time.
Between the truly unique antiques and decore to the beautiful suite and personal swimming pool, we couldn't ask for more. If you are getting married or want a romantic experience or just looking for a high-end Bread and Breakfast this is a must stay!

Ryan's Castle will leave you in jaw dropping awe. So much thought has been put into every detail.
Barbara is such a sweet lady. She goes above and beyond, answering every questions I had about the space. Charles made me the best coffee I've ever had in my life! They really took the time to make me feel comfortable and welcome in their home.
Whether you are staying with them for the night, or using the space for an event, you will not be disappointed!
It is breathtaking, the hosts are a delight, I can not say enough good things!

Is it possible to give Ryans Castle BnB more than a 5/5?? If I could, I would!! What an Amazing experience. I booked this venue for my eldest daughters 30th birthday. My second daughter was happy to come with to Celebrate! The 3 of us swam in the large, warm and private pool. The food was Exceptional and kept coming throughout our stay! From perfectly roasted chicken and beef, deli meats, cheeses, various salads, fresh berries, cheesecake, snacks, all we could drink and everything in between. Cappuccinos and Espressos!!!! We were graciously served by Charles on the pool deck like a Queen and 2 Princesses until we could barely move! Our Royal Queen Isabella Suite was warm and comfortable and full of ornate furniture and antiques. The thoughtful little touches Everywhere did not go unnoticed. Gorgeous chandeliers, 300+ year old doors, Cherrywood coffered ceiling‘s and walls with detailed ornate trim, tastefully decorated. You could actually believe you were back in time. The Chapel with its high ceilings and mediaeval windows let glowing light in. The Magnificent Italian marble altar was lovingly put together by Charles and has its own incredible history. We were fortunate to have Traveling Chef John (Owner of The Crackling Pig) and his daughter serve us a decadent dinner in the Chapel Friday evening. Watermelon salad with avocado and capers, bruschetta, rich potato leek soup, sous vide salmon and chicken Cordon Bleu and creme brûlée. One of the Best meals we have ever eaten. What was so Fascinating to us was that there was not one speck of dust anywhere! Barbara Ryans castle is Immaculate!! Although I have said enough… I can’t say enough!! It is one experience my daughters and I will never forget. I am very grateful to Barbara and Charles for this unique, Extraordinary B&B. My hope is to visit again asap! We had our wedding and photos at Ryans Castle over the weekend and to say it was a great experience is an understatement! It was a magical day in an incredible venue with the most down to earth, considerate and generous hosts Charles and Barb. Thank you so much for this experience and I would recommend this place to anyone that wants a fairytale wedding or even just a unique way to spend an afternoon tea. The owners and the facilities are top notch, they went over and above to give my daughter the wedding ceremony of her dreams. The food was fantastic and service impeccable. We were fortunate enough to get to spend two glorious days at the castle with Barb and Charles as our wonderful hosts. To say it’s a masterpiece is an understatement. I’ve never seen a nothing like it - and complete fantasyland. We are incredibly grateful for their very kind attention, and for acting as such wonderful hosts for our actors and crew. An incredibly special experience. You won’t regret one minute of your visit. Once and a lifetime experience.
