This is a fantastic day use area. South of Stony Plain about 30 minutes, it is a hidden gem. When you get to the entrance of the park you are not sure what to expect so when you drive down a steep hill you arrive at a wonderful day use area. There is ample parking. There are lots of picnic tables with fire pits with free wood. The setting is picturesque. There are public toilets that are not flush. The whole day use area is right beside the North Saskatchewan River. My wife and I along with another couple thoroughly enjoyed the visit and will return again.

Beautiful park and great day use areas. The sites are big and can host multiple families easily for a gathering. Park is kept clean, and firewood is provided for visitors to use. Was nice to see a park well respected by those who visit.

I was taught to leave nature in a better state than you found it. Unfortunately, it seems visitors before us weren't taught that philosophy. Please pick-up after yourself.

The park fills up fast, and parking is limited by the water so get here early (there is overflow at the top of the hill). We visit a couple times each year and find that when we get here between 8 and 9, there's next to nobody at the park, but by 11 there's not a parking space or an empty picnic table to be found... Also, people like to double-park, please don't do this. I was blocked in for 45 minutes until I found the owner of that blue F-150 suntanning on the beach.

It's a beautiful spot, let's keep it that way.

This is a true hidden gem. River access, big clean picnic site, well maintained washrooms and free firewood what's not to like. If you're planning on using this space get there early as you can't reserve a spot and they tend to fill up pretty quickly.

Not so hidden gem—judging by the full parking lots—about an hour drive outside of Edmonton. Perfect spot for a day trip especially on a hot summer day. Shallow clear water perfect for little ones to wade in. My twin boys loved it! We set up our chairs away from the busy main area (because Covid!) so it felt like we were on our own private beach.

P.S. As another reviewer mentioned, definitely bring your water shoes if you plan on going into the river as it is quite rocky.

Absolutely adore this place! We’ve been there twice already and planning on going a few more times before the season is over. There are 16 campfire/picnic table sites mostly along the river. Take an easy to assemble shelter in case of a quick rain. We enjoyed sitting around the fire with a beautiful view of the lake and the sun shining. A perfect little space - and will do just fine on between camping trips to keep us connected with nature and all that amazing stuff that recharges ones soul.

This little hidden gem of a day camp park is located about 40 mins outside of Edmonton. The drive down is beautiful, too, and we almost always forget we are so close to our city. When one is constantly in the city, on forgets the beautiful surroundings that are only a short drive away. We were every excited to discover this little hidden gem. A former gravel quarry, turned into a day camp named after a fallen police officer. Bonus: there our toilets (outhouse-style, not flushing ones) and fire wood is provided free of charge by the county.

Last time we were there, there were people digging for gold. Pretty cool to see all the tools and gadgets they were using.

Very beautiful little picnic spot on the river. There are several sites and they all have their own fire pit. Some are great some are just okay but overall a great place for a day trip and there is almost always plenty of firewood. There is a large open field on the other side of the parking lot to throw a frisbee or a football or anything like that.

Lovely little park area along the river. Fire pits, wood provided (bring a water bucket though!) And outhouse. Nice area to go for the day and enjoy the sun, water and outdoors.

We love coming here. Free flowing river where kids can swim and waddle. Firewood for bbq pits. Lots of picnic tables or just throw a towel to the sand or the grass. A nice afternoon serenity near the city

Constable Chelsy park is a great place for a walk on a winter day. It is very quiet and beautiful. There is a steep hill from the winter parking so be ready to climb.:-)

Beautiful place to go to especially for a quick escape from the bustle of city life. About 40 minutes to an hour from Edmonton, depending on which part of the city you come from. The sound of the river flowing is very relaxing, you can also take a dip if you want to. Lots of trees around. Not a lot of parking space though, you have to go early especially on weekends as parking could get full quickly then you will have to park afar and walk down to where the picnic places are at. There is also free firewood and a few picnic tables as well.

Fun day trip with the whole family, including the dog! We love going to places where we can take our furry family member with us and this was the best one so far. The river was a little fast but it was also shallow and warm by the shore. The view was splendid. There were a lot of shallow areas which gave us lots of space from others. Wear water shoes or sandals with straps, it's a rocky area. We will definitely return many times before the summer is over!

It was our first time there. I was looking for a place where kids could play in the water, have picnic, and lesser people, and this place has them all! Less than an hour away from Edmonton, easy drive. Just arrive early. We were there at 9am and there were only 4 cars parked. There are picnic tables with firepit and free wood too! It's an amazing place if you want to spend the whole day out of the city. Definitely going back!
