Heads up to all - total money grab from these guys right here. If I could give zero stars I would. Like many other comments, they are targeting Ontario license plates and slamming them with $500 tickets knowing right now allot of Ontario isn't getting the reminders to renew their registration (which by the way is a free renewal). You want to fine us, go for it, but $500 is a money grab and we all know it. You just so happened to « randomly » land on my car that was parked in the least visible spot out of all of Edelweiss’s parking lot. I don’t think so. This is basically a scam.

The MRC des Collines is scanning Spa Nordik parking lots for expired Ontario plates and issuing $504 fines, which is significantly higher than the $70 fines in Ontario. It's frustrating that after spending money in their community, you end up receiving a fine in the mail weeks later.

Absolutely unethical, disgusting human beings running this place. They are purposefully targeting Ontario plates that are at popular spots, like Le Nordik spa, during our transitionary period from our previous sticker method to the now free click of a button online to renew. Service Ontario claims they no longer send out reminders when plates are about to expire. When I confronted them that this will cause issues for tons of people like myself and my astronomical $500 ticket by this disgusting company, they said "oh well, it is what it is." Wouldn't be shocked if they are in cahoots. If you have an old sticker stuck on your plates (as they all are from years of being there), they will ticket you. If you did not know your plates were expired because Service Ontario changed their years-old standards of notifying you, you get ticketed. People see these losers in the parking lot scanning plates. They are taking advantage and penalizing people for a law change in a province that is NOT THEIRS. And to the people who are spending hundreds in their county. Way to turn away tourism in your area! Ridiculous and disgusting.

***Scam Letter*** I own 1 car whose engine died on December 2023, and hasn't been fixed or seen the road for over 2.5 months.

I just received mail stating my dead car was driving in their space just last week, in February. But they provide no photos, or any evidence. The time stated was 10am on a day I work from home, meaning I never left the house and the car never left the driveway, because again the car has a DEAD ENGINE.

The mail stated a fine of $504 for EXPIRED plate stickers. The funny part is, despite my engine being dead and not seeing the road for over 2.5 months, my PLATE STICKERS ARE STILL VALID.

There are other details that makes me concerned but I'll leave it at just that for now.

Time to make some calls and get this fine thrown out since it is COMPLETELY FALSE that my car or I were even there.

Side note, my driveway has 24 hour surveillance and I'll be using that to prove the car never moved nor did anyone steal the license plates.

What a terrible, terrible municipality and police force. Someone comes to a tourist destination to spend money and support your local economy and you take advantage by targeting them with exorbitant fines ($500) on a minor infraction (license plate renewal) that would be a 70$ fine in Ontario. Shame on you and your extortion.

I understand its my fault for not renewing my sticker on the license plate because I come from Ontario and misunderstood the law that we don’t need a sticker but I was unaware that I still need to be renewing my sticker each year.

There is absolutely no kindness, compassion and respect for ticketing me when I was parked in the parking lot at Camp Fortune. The fact that everything is in French on the ticket and even on their website shows the utterly disrespect towards People who don’t speak french I even got my ticket in french without English translation all I could see is $550 fine its like thats what you want from me respectfully. If you are telling someone. You are guilty at least have the courtesy to make them understand.

For my honest mistake I deserve a slap on the wrist by MRC not throwing me out the window in open and derailing me with my monthly financial budget with a $550 dollar fine when I showed the receptionist I have less than that in my bank account. I am done with Quebec never returning back.

Im just here to add 1 star because I agree with everyone’s 1 stars, they are crooked, demented and hungry for Ontarians money. As Quebec plates state “Je me souviens” - we will remember how greedy these filthy non compassionate people are.

The review about what a woman experienced in their courthouse is appalling, and frankly seems outright abusive. How has no one looked into this, or launched some action against them. The solution, just don't go here anymore. Don't support the local businesses, don't drive here if you can avoid it, let this municipality wither and fade, they've earned it.

I recieved a minor speeding ticket in August and been fighting to pay this ticket with them for months now, system does not have the ticket online, keeps saying it hasn't been data entered...

I call and leave multiple voicemail without return calls, show up finally to their office to find out I need to go to the chelsea location.. drive an hour there and finally... they are able to pull the ticket for me to pay.

Very rude and hard to believe these are the legal services in Canada now.

Corrupt employees and leadership looking to steal money from Canadians and love to target Ontario drivers. $500 for expired tags? Forgetting to charge your credit card with the agreed upon settlement amount so they can increase it? Scanning parking lots for Ontario expired tags? It's all abuse of power.

If I could give a 0 start I would! This place is a scam! They like to pick on Ontario drivers. They ticketed my car for an expired sticker, I trustingly paid this $550.00 ticket only to find out its not expired and that i just had remanence of an expired sticker on my car. They don't even run your plates!!!!!!!! Just ticket a bit of a sticker left on it! BEWARE!!! check you actually owe money!! THIS HAPPENED AT NORDIK SPA!! THEY GET THEM TO HANG OUT IN THEIR PARKING LOT!!!

Saw 2 young officers in their vehicle, perusing the lanes of the parking lot at the grocery store IGA on a Friday night of the long Canada Day. Initially thought they were looking for a specific vehicle but then noticed them driving and stopping at cars with Ontario license plates. It became clear to me that they were targeting ontariens to issue tickets. This is frankly disgusting behaviour and even more so after reading the many reviews on here and seeing that people are getting fined around 500$ for “expired” license stickers. First of all, it seems inappropriate to be conducting such activities on private property (eg. grocery lot). Secondly, issuing tickets without the presence of the vehicle owner present or witnessed operating the vehicles. Thirdly, 500$ is an absurd amount to fine individuals for this form of ‘offence’. Food for thought - Most people are barely able to make ends meet in this current economical climate and 500$ is a quarter of what the average person is making in a month these days.

Be careful because you are walking into an ambush of legal trickery.

The ticketing of Ontario drivers for their license plate stickers has been an ongoing disgrace of abuse by the Quebec province.

The Ontario government reversed the law requiring license plate stickers, effective March 2022.

The Gatineau police reported that in April alone 320 tickets were issued to Ontario motorists for expired plates.

In the entire year of 2021, Quebec issued a total of 239 tickets for expired Ontario license plates.

This is what they do.

1.They mass ticket Ontarians. Whether or not you are properly registered or not.
2. They hope most people will just pay.
3. The ones that contest end up being ambushed by a Hyena prosecutor. No Judge. No “Due process.”

Once you arrive to contest your ticket, they have done their research to ensure you were indeed in infraction of registration.

This is what to expect:

Doors open.

Old scraggly man exits the door, “Turn off your phones. No cameras allowed and be quiet inside,” were the orders from the scraggly man.

Then, the discrimination begins:

1. No open-toed sandals.
2. No dresses. (not kidding)
3. No shorts.
4. No Phones.
5. No cameras. (for good reasons)

Note: No one receives a dress code prior to court appearance or are ever communicated that there is a dress code.

One woman asked to see the written policy regarding this dress code. There is none. And there is no dress code on the MRC website, and I am still waiting for a dress code document from MRC des Collines-de-l’Outaouais.

Inside.

There is no Judge.

The prosecutor calls you, he leads you into a small room with 3 chairs.

It’s an ambush.

What follows is a disgracefully ill-mannered and disrespectful treatment at the hands of a public official; the prosecutor.

I told the prosecutor he cannot behave so rudely. He snarled, “J’ peux faire c’ que je veux.”

In English: “I can do whatever I want.”

You’re guilty before you have a chance to plead your case. The prosecutor barks at you and bullies you with manipulation. Leaves zero room for you to be heard.

This goes against the Fifth Amendment of our Constitution, the right to “Due process.”

The prosecutor bullies you into signing an admission of guilt and a promise to pay.

And, that’s how it’s done.

That’s how Ontarians get bullied into signing their guilt and Quebec gets your money.

No “Due process.”

It’s an ambush in a tiny room with a Hyena in a tie.

BTW, a prosecutor can not assign guilt. Only a Judge, Jury orthe person charged with the offense can assign guilt or innocence.

The prosecutor's purpose at MRC is to bully you into submission: get you to sign a document saying your are guilty and promise to pay the fine.

DO NOT SIGN THE DOCUMENT.

Request to be heard by a Judge and request to face your accuser (the person who issued the ticket). That is Due Process and Canadians have a right to Due Process from any government charge.

Embarrassingly grubby and cash grabbing municipality ticketing out-of-province drivers (Ontario in particular) for unlocked cars or for not having renewed plates, after the Ford-refund debacle that had led to many not understanding when their plates expire, leading to a $500 fine, which is pointless to fight.

Beware if you are visiting sites like Spa Nordik or Camp Fortune - these are 'public-private' lots and these businesses do not care one bit that their Municipality is using their clientele for a cash grab.

Seriously, this municipality needs to grow up and get a real business plan to run their services instead of the corrupt enterprise of inflated infractions over 'gotcha' issues.

In 2017 my car broke down on the 323. Officer stops and I assumed they would ask if I needed assistance. Nope. Slaps me with $200 fine for parking on the side of a highway even though I was just waiting for a tow truck. Honestly, go eff yourselves. I assume the real charge was "driving with Ontario plates".

If I could give a minus 1, I would!! Instead of having their cops on the roads they are at Nordik Spa checking for Ontario cars that forgot to renew their license plates, totally unbelievable. That is why I will never go back! And Nordik spa, should give a heads up to all Ontario drivers when they come in.

I just got a ticket for $494 for my Ontario licence plate sticker being expired at Nordik Spa. The whole thing is in French so I literally don’t know what to do…. No one picks up the phone.

got a $500 ticket for a sticker which no longer required in Ontario~~! tried to call many times, no one picks up the phone. They can simply rob you, but they are so nice even give you a receipt for it.
