Great museum! One of my favourite layout styles for sure where you can pretend to visit various olde thyme shops/services.

A great place to visit and it's by donation. The first floor has all the history of TB , how people moved and what were the busineeses back at that time .The second floor presented a history of deseases and medications and on the third floor , there was an exhibition of beautiful pictures in black&white taken from Thunder Bay.

A wonderful collection. It is a great place to take your kids so they can see some old timey things.

Currently under construction but it's open. You'll need to enter via the service/employee entrance.

Be sure to spend extra for your tickets to help maintain this place.

We had a lovely visit to the Thunder Bay museum. The first floor exhibit was very interesting and I also enjoyed the medical exhibit on the second floor. The staff was friendly and the giftshop had unique options.

A lovely little museum with free parking and a very reasonable entry fee. I particularly enjoyed interacting with the warm, welcoming staff, and noting their devotion to equity deserving communities, and the small but growing 2SLGBTQIA+ archive they're curating.

After visiting Fort William Historical Museum came here to fill in the history of Thunder Bay.
Well presented highlights of pre colonial times going back 10000 plus years with archaeological displays. It had displays of Lakehead so I was unsure visiting from Australia what that referred to but the staff member explained the tow towns joining together and the area generally being known as Lake Head. It may be helpful to have some actual narrative about the amalgamation naming and other history.
The rail, CPR and shop displays were good.
I enjoyed the visiting racism display- very hands on and practical.
In some displays the light was too harsh for good photos.

Great little museum. Well worth the $3 admission. Gives you a good idea of the local history including indigenous history. I even ended up picking up a book by a local author from the gift shop.

I like the way they plan and implement their seasonal learning programs... Especially those art classes and discovery learning programs.

Interesting and fun way to learn about our city and area and also hosts kids birthday parties for a reasonable price with fun craft activities the kids loved. All the people working there were great and its a perfect alternative to the usual birthday spots where you and your rugrats will learn something new. They also mentioned there are 'camps' for March and summer break. 👍👍👍👍👍

Well worth the low admission price. It's not a huge museum, but there's lots of things / history from the region / area to look at. Kids had a great time visiting, and learned a few things too. Albertasaurus dinosaur was on display when we visited.

Staff were knowledgable and friendly. The exhibits were interesting - I learned a lot about the shared heritage between TBay, ON and Houghton, MI. Good stuff!

The museum store had some beautiful artwork and postcards at very accessible prices. Will definitely return again.
