China King Buffet Restaurant

This was the best and cheapest Chinese food I've had on Cape Breton Island! We also tried Chinese food in Sydney before we left and it was very expensive and felt like the food wasn't fresh and had a weird smell. But here, for 18.99 you can have over 25 types of food and desserts. I love wonton soup were so delicious with lots of meat. Chicken balls are filled with large chicken breasts, and the bones in the ribs were braised and crispy! They have an unlimited time and number of plates, and you can eat until you're full! We will eat here again if we get the chance and recommend it to those around us! love here👍

I am a local. I absolutely adore this restaurant, and has been coming here since the original owners were there. The food never changed, and the staff is nice and friendly. If you didn’t have a nice experience there, you must be mistaken. This is definitely Chinese food. It taste like the other popular Chinese restaurant, „Mings“ in New Glasgow, which is one I go to Frequently. I really enjoy this restaurant, and hope for the best for its owners.

We stopped by here for takeout on our way to Baddeck after a long day of driving. The staff was very kind, relaxed, and helpful. We ended up getting their buffet to go (you get to completely fill a takeout container with whatever you want from the buffet). The prices were very reasonable and there was a great selection to choose from.

Love the all you can eat buffet. The sweet and sour sauce is really good. The shrimp on the buffet are amazing! Chicken balls are huge, they even have pie or jello for dessert. Give them a try. They also follow covid rules. 2 different time frames for the buffet, we like the 2:30 PM one. It has wings ,shrimp, honey garlic ribs, chicken balls, etc.etc...😋😊

A mixture of great food and good food. Dont expect a michelin star, but for 25$ a person its a good value for all you can eat. Negative reviews are either bitter or came during slow times because it was fresh. Understaffed, but courteous and does their best. Will dine again. Interior is outdated, but im there to focus on my plate. Not the walls.

Little restaurant in Port Hawkesbury. It is always nice to discover Chinese buffet during a roadtrip. Just a lot of good choice. Wish there were more choice of desserts. Thought water will be free but it was 3$. Better to go with another drink if you have to pay the same price as the water.

We are regulars at China King, and food is delicious, and the staff is very friendly and accommodating. If they ran out, give them a few minutes, and they'll soon return with whatever you wanted.

The lunch buffet is always good here. With a great selection of food. Uou can't go wrong for the price and amount of food you can eat

Loved it!! Went to the dinner buffet with my partner and we both agreed- best chicken balls we’ve had in a long time, good sauce and chicken to batter ratio👌🏼 Great variety for the price in my opinion, and very prompt in getting us seated, despite how busy they were. I am not from the area, but if I’m ever near Port Hawkesbury again I will definitely be going back!

Some of the best Chinese food I've ever had. Buffet is hot, fresh and quite extensive for the market size. This chef is obviously experienced and skilled. Friendly prompt service and price very reasonable. The building is aging and interior is a bit worn but kept clean and comfortable. I'm a professional chef of many years and recognize small nuances that tell me there is pride in preparing this buffet. The town of Port Hawkesbury is fortunate to have this quality of food service. Well done folks.

A bit expensive but best Oriental food in area! Buffet style or order plate.

Food was delicious, good variety and service really nice ! Even the price was descent. We gave a good tip because the staff was wonderful and we will definitely go again when we're in the area !

Parking is good for the area.

The interior is well kept and as of the pandemic it is laid out with social distancing spacing in mind while the buffet line has been streamlined as well.

The options for the buffet are the way to go at $12.99 unless you are a senior citizen and can get the senior meal deal.

Overall our favorite thing was the soup dumplings. They dumplings were stuffed and the soup was delicious. It was light cabbage based soup.

Check it out if you want tasty, quick, and lots to eat.

Passed through on my way to Sydney with a group, we were all craving Chinese food and found this hidden gem. The food was amazing and the service was fast and very friendly. We were very appreciative of their Covid safety measures and the overall welcoming atmosphere. Everybody in our group enjoyed their meals if we ever pass through Port Hawkesbury again we will remember to make a stop here!

I would say the best tasting Chinese food in Nova Scotia, buffet is amazing. Restaurant itself is uncomfortable with awkward seating but that's the only negative. Food staff, cleanliness, parking, all great.

Love the buffet and staff/owners really good to see if everyone was enjoying everything and didn't need anything else.
