Porto Alegre Public Market

Lovely old fashion building done in the format of many european markets with lots of well stocked stalls from the mundane to great delicatessen. Worth a visit plus make sure after this you walk towards the river where you can take catamara to Barra Shopping or to Guati for just over 10R or else an hour trip looking at all tourist sights with a different company for 30R cash or 35 if you pay with credit card. Either worth making the time to do as gives you a unique perspective of this gorgeous clean air city.

Great local market with fresh veggies, meat, seafood, wine, products; needs for every chef.

I love wandering round markets wherever I go and this one does not disappoint. A sprawling mass inside and outside a spectacular building.

One if the spots you want to visit if you're a tourist or even loving there. Lots of meat markets and food shops. Pretty clean as well.

Rio Grande do Sul most exquisite grocery store

This is a wonderful open air market with a number of amazing indoor stalls. It’s been around for a very long time. They sell fresh fruit and choice meats. The local Mate is a real treat. The drink is more common in the Southern states of Brazil where the cold weather helps enjoy this delicious tea. Great memories of good food and excellent deals in this market.
At times it can be very crowded and loud which helps with the ambiance of the place.

Definitely worth exploring.

Historical and reference spot in the city center of Porto Alegre

It's a lot safer than it used to be.
Have that huge variety of products and a pretty good price.
The traditional stalls are still there.
You can buy things that you are not going to find anywhere else.
Unfortunately the second floor was still under reconstruction as a fire destroyed it few years ago.

The old traditional market in Porto Alegre where you can buy a fresh meet for grill, sausages, many places offer erva mate, and all for Chumarrão which is traditional here, also gaúcho stuff, like knives for Churrasco, many fruits and vegetables, coffe place Café do Mercado where you can buy one of the best coffee, in beans and granded.

Definitely a must see place for anyone that wants to know the town. Very important in our history. There you can find a lot a local things to buy, like Chimarrão (mate). Also you find good meat, ice cream, restaurants, fruits of all kinds, cheese, ham, tea, and so on.
