Nice atmosphere, waiters are familiar with the menu and know to explain\elaborate well the dishes.
Food is good and the meat worth the high price

Excellent atmosphere. The best fish restaurant in Sofia. You can eat meat as well. Whole decoration is top quality.

This restaurant had amazing food, and the service at table means the memories stand out. I went as a vegetarian, and although this is billed as a fish restaurant, the options were very tasty. When it gets busier, the service isn’t quite as good; but that’s understandable. Take it easy as an evening out for a meal, and you’ll enjoy. I highly recommend the Einkorn bread!

Very cozy and luxurious place. I liked the interior and the decor, the service was also good although we had to wait like 15 min for the bill which was kind of annoying. Other than that, the food was very delicious, the prices are high but not too high so you get what you pay for. Overall I had a pleasant experience with great food and service!

It's one of the best restaurants in Sofia, everything is fantastic the food, the service, the atmosphere just everything. There are a few restaurants in Sofia from this chain, but this one is the best.
Whatever you order you can't go wrong it'll be very tasty. The atmosphere is very cosy and beautiful at the same time. I can't recommend some particular dishes because all dishes are very good and I've tried almost everything from the menu.
Highly recommended restaurant. A+++

The place is amazing, classy layout, excellent service and just one of the tastiest meals I had in Sofia so far and I would totally recommend if you are in the city to drop by and try it by yourself. Keep up the good work!! Cheers

This is my fifth time in captain cook ,amazing elegant atmosphere.
Live music, not too loud, gives the chance to have a normal conversation with others.
The food is delicious. Fair price.
One of the best restaurants in Sofia.

I was there some weeks ago. Porcini pasta delicious, calamari also. Very nice service and beautiful view on trees and peacocks 😍 but I think it would be better if they add more veggie option in the menu

If you are looking for great seafood, great service and a world of convenience, Captain Cook is for you.

Great menu, quick service, brilliant ambience (we had a live singer and musician playing) and fresh catch on display

It is attached to Hotel Marinela so if you are staying in here, just pop down and enjoy.

We made a booking and were late for last orders but they kindly stayed open and the restaurant was still busy.
Live music was playing which was a great touch and it was in the most beautiful hotel.
Don’t let the casual name fool you, it’s a gorgeous restaurant with fresh fish on display and an upmarket vibe (even though there are random screens playing sport channels dotted around). Would recommend to visit for dinner!

If I’d had time to return for dinner here during my visit to the city I certainly would have done. It isn’t the cheapest restaurant in the area but both the service and food left us really impressed! If you don’t like seafood then you might be best looking elsewhere, because that’s this restaurant’s speciality, although the limited meat dishes they do offer are equally as nice.

We didn’t have a reservation but early on a Saturday evening managed to secure the last table in the window, which is a brilliant spot given the views over the square and cathedral. The table was large, spotlessly clean and laid out well with nice glasses and cutlery. There was a large TV screen in the corner showing a rather random mix of content but the decor throughout was really nice, giving plenty to admire and maintaining a high end feel. There’s some really pleasant acoustic music in the background giving a wonderful atmosphere.

Drinks orders were taken quickly and the really friendly waiter quickly sorted the glasses once we decided we weren’t having wine. Throughout the meal the staff were attentive to when glasses were getting low and were professional at serving the top-ups. The food menu takes some time to read, particularly for the seafood since it’s a case of ordering individual items and constructing your own dish. But equally this is the joy, enabling you to get exactly what you want in a dish! There’s a fresh fish counter for those wanting to personally select the items and the whole set up was explained really well by the staff.

Throughout the meal the waiting staff serving us kept changing between three individuals, all of whom were lovely, but it was a little annoying each wasn’t aware of what the previous had answered with us or recommendations made. All of the staff could speak decent enough English to be able to converse properly with them. It was nice being asked what speed we wanted the dishes to be brought out at, ensuring that the meal could be as relaxed as we wanted and it made us feel welcome and not rushed.

The octopus carpaccio starter was large and really well presented. The same was true for the prawns in a garlic oil - they were large and really tasty. We were offered a Bulgarian lamb dish for the main (can’t remember what it was called) which was a great portion size and also really tasty. Side dishes with the seafood items were of the same good quality and deserts were presented very well too. Overall every dish was was tasty and offered great value for money.

On a separate occasion we sat outside for some afternoon drinks. There’s loads of seating complete with umbrellas and heaters, making sure the large area can be used all year round. Again staff were friendly and attentive, even going as far as offering up use of the outdoor electric sockets when they spotted us charging photos with battery packs.

It was this incredible level of service and friendliness (yet also professionalism) which made this place amazing. The food was brilliant as well as good value for the quality, but the way in which the evening was delivered made it memorable, and I would happily continue to return. Brilliant place.

Great place for food in Sofia! Not as fantastic as it may look from all the internet photos but satisfying overall! Had only a lunch without drinks so can’t comment on other things.

Searching for Glamorous and tasty food? This is by far the best choice in my opinion. Appetizers so yummy I always have at least 3 (Sweet-souer Calamari, Mediterranean Octopus with the super sauce, marinated Tuna sandwich with caviar spread, red onions and squeezed lemon). You have to try the Mushroom Risotto made in a big bowl of Parmesan and the Asparagus cream soup with Saint Jaques mussels, these are classics. I have only tried the Rib Eye Steak and it's the best I ever had. Atmosphere is fantastic and staff is attentive and top professional. Wonderful location with marvelous views. Enjoy my favorite spot!

Very tasty cuisine, dishes made from scratch. The design of the restaurant is chic. Music. The waiters look a little tired, but maybe that's the mentality.

An excellent restaurant with an underlying, yet subtle, theme of pirates, hence the name Captain Cook being a parody of Captain Hook. It definitely has an elegant vibe which is a tribute to how to do a theme not usually meant for such elegant vibes.
The decoration and ambiance is perfect for couples.
The food was delicious. We had many dishes. The octopus was perfectly cooked and so were the prawns. We also had some sashimi which was very good.
There are also some more unique recipes such as a cod that was covered with relatively big chuncks of bread and was delicious. My seafood pasta dish was excuisite, although not one of the very best I've had.

The prices are a bit of the more expensive side, but since we were tourists and we originate from a more expensive mediteranean country, we found them more than affordable.
Service was one of the best I've seen.

Highly recommended!

Many years in existence and the quality is still good!

The atmosphere is a bit too posh for my taste, but the food is worth it
