Fantastic experience renting car for 3 week road trip across the Balkans. Went with Val&Kar based on reviews and was not disappointed. They sorted out all the insurance and border paperwork and explained to us what to expect (as we are from Australia and aren't as familiar with land border crossings!) We rented a car in 2020 for a road trip across several countries for almost a month. At first we just asked for a small car. My husband and I rented a car for our two week road trip around the Balkans. Throughout the process Val & Kar were fantastic. They arranged the paperwork for the border crossings and were always prompt with their email replies. The car, a manual Opel Corsa, was relatively new and was in excellent condition. We had no troubles in any of the 7 countries we visited and the car was perfect on the hills for two people yet small enough to navigate the sometimes narrow roads of the old towns. I highly recommend this local company for anyone considering a road trip in Bulgaria or its neighbouring countries.

They were organised in preparing the car and all paperwork for insurance, border crossings and ensuring we had international driving licences.

Val&Kar is the best rental car company I’ve ever rented from. They rented me a great car for a good price, arranged all the paperwork for me to cross borders between eight countries (Bulgaria, Serbia, Montenegro, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Croatia, Albania, Kosovo, and North Macedonia), and were available 24/7 for anything I needed. TL;DR: I have worked with several rental companies in Europe, and this is by far and away the best one.

Long version: We found this company by accident, when looking for rental companies that facilitated European border crossings (especially non-EU), plus pick-up from far-away locations. We sent out emails to 5+ companies. Val & Kar was not just the first to respond, but their response was by far the most professional. They told us the exact car we'd be getting, the exact price, and what documents we needed to facilitate the road trip.

Our requirements were:
* Border crossing between EU and non-EU countries (Bulgaria, Serbia, Romania)
* Full insurance coverage
* A car that could handle mountain roads, but reasonably priced
* Pick-up from Varna and drop-off at Bucharest
Until now, no other company was even willing to meet these basic requirements, even for a high price.

We were met at the airport by the team, and not only got a shiny new car, but also all of the paperwork. The owner explained what to do in every situation, explained what each paper means, etc. He also has a WhatsApp account where he is available, in both English and Russian, besides Bulgarian. He also gave us tips about toll roads, border crossings, etc. Indeed, the documentation was impeccable, and we had no trouble anywhere.

At the end of the trip, the same person indeed met us in Bucharest, as agreed. He was willing to come with us to the gas station to refuel, on his own time. He returned the cash deposit immediately. No hidden fees, no waiting, nothing.

I've never encountered such great service from a rental car company anywhere, especially in Europe. As mentioned, the car itself was also new and shiny, no issues at all.

Val is a lovely charming man who was wonderful while arranging our trip from Sofia to North Macedonia and Albania. We were not particularly well organized for our trip before and did little research but we felt in safe hands with Val who was able to organize all the necessary paperwork and insurance all on the same day so we could be off on our trip the next day. If you are planning to rent a car to use in Bulgaria, and especially if you are going to be taking it to other countries (Val has extensive experience and arrangements with all the neighboring countries, all the Balkans, Turkey etc etc) then this is the company to use. They will give you the best rate too. Val even personally dropped us off at his favorite restaurant when we returned from our trip so we could sample some of the delicious cuisine available. Had a really good experience with Val&Kar in Sofia. Their airport pick-up and drop-off is really useful as they wait for you in the income hall and you can pick up the car in the airport parking lot. When dropping of the car you can just park in the Kiss & Ride section and they will be waiting there for you as well. Excellent and very time efficient service! We travelled through various countries in the Balkan and Val&Kar arranged all the necessary paper work. The car was brand new as well! To summarise: would recommend 10/10!

We chose Val & Kar because we couldn't find another rental car company willing to let us take a car to Albania. We eventually took the car to 8 countries with no problems. The car was very new, the communication we received was fast and clear and the service was surprisingly good. We returned the car with a small dent and they were very understanding. We didn't have insurance so there was a charge to fix it of course, but it was a very fair amount and they provided receipts. I rarely trust car rental companies but I feel very comfortable recommending Val & Kar. We would definitely use them again.

Rented a car from Val&Kar to explore the Balkans. The car was in excellent condition as we drove it to explore 5 Balkan countries making it all the way to Dubrovnik and Mostar. Val&Kar responded quickly on my email inquiries. Their wide selection of vehicles and competitive price made me think they were a huge organization. It's a well oiled small business that operates with a lot of heart. I highly recommend this company.

This is my preferable company to hire car from in Bulgaria. This is because I know the owner and his staff, who is always polite and responsive during the hired time.They always offer new cars, very good prices, unlimited mileage and terms, constant assistance. Absolutely professional and friendly staff that treats everyone with respect. It's been a pleasure to hire car from them for my family!

We rented a car for our balkan trip for 2 weeks and we would able to enter all of the countries without any problem. The car was totally new and the owner was quiete helpful.

Fantastic, nothing was a problem for them, they were professional and helpful at every level. Communication was outstanding. All necessary documentation was ready for us. We chose them because they were able to rent us a car to take one way through the Balkans including Albania, which it seemed was not an option for any of the other companies. However even apart from this their service was excellent all round and I would thoroughly recommend them.

Fantastic car rental company that allowed us to hire car and then tour Bosnia, Greece, Serbia, Montenegro, Croatia etc.

Service was excellent and the extra charge for the booster seats was very reasonable (which it is not normally!).

Highly recommended! We booked the car from abroad via email, communication was excellent and we received a brand new car for a good price. They were very nice about everything, and picked up the car from our hotel at the end of the rental, which was very convenient.

Excellent service - they only car rental company in Bulgaria that allowed us to travel to Kosovo and Albania. The car (Renault Clio 2017) was in perfect condition and we had no troubles with it during our 2800 km trip through crazy Balkan roads :)
