I dined here twice over two days and had an excellent meal each time. Menu is bilingual. One night featured two men playing the kaba gaida. Prices are extremely affordable, and the setting is just gorgeous. The folklore shop is mostly traditional clothing. Service is a little slow if you’re used to American standards. That’s fine. Slow down and enjoy the evening.

Excellent service food. We especially liked Turkish pide and lamb.

As we were only in the restaurant I can speak only about it. This is one of the best traditional Bulgarian restaurants I have been. (and I have been in to many, you can imagine) . The food was delicious, the service was perfect, the way they treat you, the visual way it looks like is sending you ba k in time. I totally recommend eating there if you visit city Smolian!

Amazing atmosphere and presentation. Food was amazing,affordable and fresh. I did not try their rooms, but the restaurant is a must try in smolian for the best local food and experience.

What a great restaurant! Food was delicious (sorry didn't take any photos, we devoured them as soon as they arrived). Nice atmosphere, friendly staff and the traditional Bulgarian folklore music was a nice touch. Definitely coming back!

Great place with distinctive atmosphere, the food was delicious, be careful when ordering because the portions are very big. I would suggest trying the different kinds of bread with spices, they are great. The desserts are very sweet, I enjoyed the cake one. One think that bothered me was the life music as it was too close to you while you are eating, but that's pretty personal.

Our second time here and as always food is sooo delicious!! Love the vibes. It's like keeping your feet to your roots. Personally, not Bulgarian, my husband is. But everytime I sits in here I feel like one 😁

Absolutely delicious food - real traditional Rhodopi cuisine. There’s live music, the interior is authentic and the staff is lovely! I cannot wait to come back soon. Make sure you order the home made lutenitsa you won’t regret it 🇧🇬

I love Bulgarian food and this was the first place where I was able to try a variety of different dishes. Food was very delicious, service is very good and served fast.

I would definitely recommend this restaurant for foreign visitors.

You must visit Restaurant Bulgarche! I highly recommend this place for its atmosphere, friendly staff and unique food! Fair prices for the quality of food you receive.I visited the place with my family and friends in the summer, ate on the summer terrace, everything was so,so delicious! I would visit the place again! Even the pizza we ordered war extremely tasty for a pizza in a non Italian restaurant.

This visit was on a Saturday evening. It was busy so we sat in one of the outside areas. Well decorated and comfortable. The staff were very attentive.

The food was again excellent. The live musicians were great and there was dancing and singing.

I highly recommend this place.

Just one note of a bit of a sharp practice by staff. The bill was around 67 leva. I handed a waitress the bill with 2 x 50 leva notes. She said 'thank you' and made no attempt to check it or give me change. (I had a 10% tip in my other hand). I asked for the change and she rather begrudgingly gave me a twenty, I looked at her, then she slowly gave me a ten seeing if I wanted to tip the ten or thirteen leva. I held my hand out and again was slowly given almost all my change. I passed over another note and thanked her. I will not tolerate this practice. In future I will pay the exact amount by card and tip what I want to tip, it what they think they can 'fleece' me for.

Great service and local Bulgarian food

Everything about this restaurant was incredible! Excellent staff and service. Warm atmosphere. Most importantly, delicious food (the pizza and parlenki are on a new level of deliciousness) for very fair prices. I only wish I lived here so I could come more often.

The best traditional Bulgarian restaurant I've been to and I am born and raised in Bulgaria. This place is off the charts on all paragraphs - interior, waiters, service and the food... Oh my god! Literally every single dish my friends and I tried was delicious. If you are visiting Smolyan DEFINITELLY try this place out.

Very unusual building. They served us a wonderful French toast with white cheese (feta) and raspberries jam in Sunday morning. A good outdoors tables and a fireplace also makes the restaurant a must see.

Incredibly tasty and fresh food. Ample choice of traditional dishes. Fast and kind service. MUST visit if you find yourself in Smolyan. No photos of food cause it was too damn delicious to slow down and take a picture.

Really delicious, worth going. Almost everything is cooked on coals and whatever can be done in-place and on-time is done like that (e.g. the minced meat for the grill, the dough for the bread, the lemonade, etc.). I would definitely recommend and go again.

The place to eat in Smolian!
I had two meals in the restaurant, few days apart. Both quite enjoyable and fulfilling 😀
For the first - we had a table on the street level - where the bar is. Second - a couple of levels down - outside in the garden area.
I have to say I hardly went past the starters, because they sounded and looked (on the very well presented menu) great. So we all ordered a few each and tried each others one.
My favorites are the Катък, Родопски Клин, Пататник and the salad Българче.
I also had big butter beans (Смилянски фасул}, gherkins and лютеница salad, but I was slightly surprised that it contained not too many beans, but many other things such as olives(not pitted), carrots, red peppers and so on. Not bad at all, don't get me wrong, but would have liked a few more beans. Would order it again now that I know the ingredients.
What I wouldn't order again is the stuffed vine leaves (сарми в лозови листа) - They were ever so dry as if prepared last summer.
Hopefully just a bad batch.
For drinks I had a recommended by the waitress шишаркова ракия - very nice! As well as Михалковска naturally sparkling mineral water.
The first evening we were lucky enough to see some of the staff singing and playing on accordion and bagpipe folk songs from Rodopa mountain. There was olso a spit roast outside in the big fire place.
Second night was nice and quiet.
Staff were polite and friendly, the interior is done with the typical local tradition in mind. There is also a shop selling traditional folk dresses, but I only noticed it before I left the restaurant, so will check it next time.
Would definitely recommend and come back next time I am in the town.

Super tasty traditional home made food, cozy place, fast service. The best fresh mushrooms I have ever ate, nothing to do with those we buy from the store. The small bulgarian bread with garlic butter and cheese is also great! Prices are normal. I saw in the menu you can also order a Bulgarian pipeback player for 50lv and a vocalist for 50 lv, but I haven't ask for details. Probably calling in advance is recommended, so they can prepare it for you.
I've been impressed by the fact they also have a folklore shop! Ask for it and they will take you outside downstairs. At the restaurant you can pay by card or cash, while in the shop you can pay cash, but they also accept euro, if you are not preparef with leva. There are beautiful, traditional folklore costumes for women, men and children.
