I thoroughly recommend a visit to this museum if you are in the Ypres Salient. We visited as a group with a mix of ages. We had lunch as part of our group entry. A lovely sandwich with a drink.

The museum is informative and full of artefacts from the First World War. You can also take a walk up the road to the remains of trenches.

Niek and his family are very welcoming. Do go and visit.

Great Museum this. Lots of exhibits and lots of original history as well. This was part of the Great War. Nice cafe with indoor and outdoor seating. Parking outside or down the lane next door. Not expensive to enter and the cafe was senisble price. Would highley recommend if you in the area. Easy to find on the main road.

Cracking little bar does nice light lunch. They have a church attached that has been transformed into a WW1 museum. Packed full of fantastic artifacts. They have so much stuff in there it's well worth a visit. Be warned on Tuesday only open to organised tours.

Family run site very well maintained. We were fortunate to be shown a German and allies trench along with finds from the local battlefield
Musuem had life size displays and some vehicles from WW1. As part of a ledger tour we also had lunch at the cafe

Great little museum which takes 30-60 mins to get through. Massive collection of memorabilia but even better is it a good mix of German memorabilia as well.
Great 15 min video about the area and the flow of the war.
Also has a good restaurant /cafe on site.

Didn't have access as it was close during the visit but had access to the craters and the trenches which gave more visuals to seeing that part of history play out.
Worth the visit and advance booking would be recommended.

Was originally heading to sanctuary woods but it looked closed. We wouldn't have time for both so glad we ended up here.
Good well presented collection and nice little cafe with friendly staff.

This privately run museum is a gem!

The exhibits are laid out in a logical and engaging way. Also, being able to link (via QR code) to a YouTube video of the museum owner's sons present the story of animals in war time was a really nice touch.

The owner himself was very friendly, and it was nice to be able to talk with him and to ask about his motivation for creating the museum .... but I'll not spoil the story and let you find out for yourself when you visit.

We picked a very cold, wet and windy day to visit so it was so nice after our tour of the museum to be able to sit in the warm cafe and enjoy a cup of tea - we even got fresh milk, which we had no idea is something that is very rare in this part of the world!!

If you are close by or pasding, we would recommend that you visit the Hooge Crater Museum

Enjoy

A very thought provoking experience with a museum full of genuine artifacts collected from the battlefields and local historians. There is a graveyard over the road which also adds gravity to the tragic loss suffered by many who fought and died there. Please make sure you sign the register in the graveyard and leave a comment as this helps towards the upkeep and preservation.

There is a nice little cafe also situated at the museum.

After walking into just even the restaurant here and then the museum, I was happily surprised, this was one of the best museums I have been to in a while, amazing location for anyone interested in the history of the first world war, amazing collection of military artifacts and lots of panels for information, incredible

Perfect deal. For 11€ you get the museum+soft drink+huge sandwich. The museum is old school (no computer crap) filled to the throat with relics from WW1. In addiyion, the place is filled with private collection level rare exhibits that I have never seen in quality or quantity in any WW1 war museum this far.

A beautiful museum where everything is immaculately and thoughtfully presented. Informative and moving. Directly opposite a military cemetary, which makes the visit even more poignant and makes the horror of it all so clear. The cemetery is peaceful and immaculately maintained, flowers and plants lovingly planted on the headstones.
We also visited the cafe which was great too. The staff were friendly and welcoming.
Additional info that maybe of use...there is a lovely motorhome aire at the back of the museum. Several lovely spaces opposite a field. All very pretty.
Separately there is a hotel a short stroll away which has trenches in its grounds. They can be explored for a voluntary/suggested price of 1 euro per person.
All definitely worth visiting.
Thank you
