Ypra inn - Øl Tankbier

It was cold outside. I was hungry and thirsty. I had done a battlefield walk, in snow flurries. I’d walked 7.5 miles by now. The beer was excellent. Limited food choices but the lasagne I had was perfect, exactly what was needed. Incredibly tasty. Full of locals. Right next to the Menin Gate. Highly recommended

What a great, friendly place. Good beer, great location in the centre right next to the Menin Gate. And great cheese toasties! It’s not big, so gets pretty crowded, but it feels local and authentic, despite all the tourists (like us!) The server was on her own at one point and really really busy, but always smiling and helpful. Thanks for a good night.

Great location for the Last Post ceremony each evening. Was most impressed when staff quietly asked a few "disrespectful idiots" to step off the chairs they were standing on. Good selection of beers - we didn't try any food so can't comment on that. Seating outside, right in front of the Menin gate. Wrap up warm on colder evenings!

Nice Belgian pub with a difference. The closest building to Menin Gate. Atmospheric with a very authentic, individual feel with WWI and British memorabilia. Plus point for aged Orval, options of fresh or one year old, but mine was nearer two! Nicely rounded, less sweet flavour. Good beer selection with a Trappist beer on tap (La Trappe)! - first time I'd seen that after living 3 years in Belgium. Good for a stop after the Last Post.

Great location for pre and post drink before the last post ceremony.

The ceremony commemorates the missing soldiers that died during the war, it is truly amazing this ceremony has taken place over 30,000 times since the war ended.

Strongly recommend you visit the memorial, go for a pre ceremony dinner and then attend he ceremony at 8pm.

There is a wonderful atmosphere here and the personnel is very kind. Its location is excellent, right at the Menin Gate. Tips: they sell an own beer, called Ypra Inn as well and there's a usual bit of crowdiness just after the Last Post ceremony too, which is nevertheless handled well by the bartenders.

Excellent bar, friendly staff. Lunch/supper very tasty soup/toastie combo, which we've enjoyed either lunchtime or after the ceremony on a chilly evening.

A few beers before and after the memorial service, very friendly staff and extremely helpful, was there in October 2019

Always go here when we are in Ypes, get the Soup with Ham & Cheese Toastie it's perfect on a cold day and it's tasty.
