The northernmost point of the Western Front, where the Belgians had held against the German onslaught on the other side of the Yser River. They have a small museum about the trench in the area where you buy tickets across the entirety of the war, but the trench itself is the largest part of the museum, the sandbags have long been removed for concrete, and one of the more interesting this is how large it is. It is a great place to see the lives of soldiers fighting.

I personally visited this place before, but unfortunately yesterday we were too late (it closes at 6PM)and were only able to view the trenches from outside. Do take a walk behind the trenches as you will then also notice how close the river IJzer is located.
Such an important historical place to visit!
Lest we forget 🏵❤

Very cool experience! It costs €6 per person to view the museum and walk through the trenches. You can pay in person. It was a little busy when we went but there was no line so there's no reason to buy tickets in advance. The trenches are really well taken care of and it's a mesmerizing experience walking through. They have placards scattered throughout showing pictures taken from back then and to describe what different areas were used for. I definitely recommend this experience!

We popped in here as in the local area.

An experience not to be missed if you are in the area.

€6 to get in (€4 if a student) a really interesting museum inside with beautifully housed artefacts from WW1.

Outside is a view over the fought over ground and a chance to walk through the reconstructed trenches.
It is always sobering to walk in the footsteps of history & imagine what it must've been like.

A little gem of a museum which needs to be visited if doing the WW1 tours etc.

Very informative and well preserved place. Walking through the trenches gives you as accurate of an idea as to how the soldiers fought.

Small site and nicely presented. Not a tourist trap by any means. Informative and engaging.

We came to Dodengang as part of a whistlestop tour of some of the WW2 sites around Calais - what appealed to us was seeing trenches and getting a sense of what they were like. This relatively small site is very well preserved and tells the story of what went on here well - definitely worth a visit!

Highly recommended. I didn’t expect such a big original trench complex. Walk all the way to the end of the trenches. There you get a very good idea of the stand off between the original concrete defense boxes of the British and Germans, viewing and shooting across 75m of no man’s land. Very impressive.

Brief, but impactful place to visit to understand Belgian and WW1 history. Despite the beautiful flowers and grass that have grown around the trenches, this remains a solemn, heavy place. An important reminder for Peace.

A complete trench network, it is larger than it initially looks. Small museum to go along with it that is well done. The trenches are in good shape and easy to explore for most people.

This is a very well preserved trench system and as such worth spending some time here. It is hard to imagine what horrors these trenches saw during the Great War but it's name "Trench of death" says much about it.

A historical place that you need to visit. Very friendly people at the reception.

It can be a bit muddy (but totally not like during 14-18 i assume). Not a location to walk with high heels and bling bling clothing. Highly recommend.

A place that makes you shiver... Nicely done, gives you the feeling you van safely relive the war in the trenches. Explains visualy to children why we have to avoid another war. Lovely view with the poppies. Toilets are available in the visitor centre but where not clean.

Well worth a visit, gives you a good impression of what it felt to be in the trenches without the horror.
Excellent exhibition inside the main building.

Other than being allowed to pay for the tour only with a credit card (not cash), this place was an amazing display of trenches along the Yser Canal. Walking through the trenches really allowed me to envision with more realism what life was like in these trenches on the war front 100 years ago.

Belgium sector of WW1 trenches. One of the better preseserved trench systems I have seen. Not called the trench of death for nothing. Eye opener
