The details on the buildings are magnificent. It is a must visit if you’re into history and architecture. Preservation could be a lot better. One thing I would complain about is the cleanliness. DO NOT THROW TRASH EVERYWHERE PLEASE!

Puthia Rajbari is located in a picturesque setting just 1 km south of the Rajshahi Natore Highway. Currently the palace is being used as Puthia College. There is a small temple next to the palace and a huge pond next to it. Puthia Palace stands as a testament to the region's architectural grandeur and cultural heritage. As a traveler with a penchant for exploring historical landmarks, my recent visit to Puthia Palace left an indelible impression, blending awe-inspiring architecture with captivating tales of bygone eras.

Beautiful and aesthetic place. Recommended for people who like historical places, and who like to click pretty pictures. The terracotta temple (Govinda temple) is magnificent. The architecture of the whole palace is quite intricate, blending of European and mughal traditions. The place deserves better preservation for its historical importance. Already lots of properties seem to be in ruins. I wish the authorities would pay more attention to heritages like these.

The ticket price:30 Tk (BDT)

For those who study in college or school, the ticket price is 10 taka.So those who go to school/college must keep ID card with them.

Small but a beautiful place. Newly painted walls are looking gorgeous due to light pink colour.

Front view is like Greek structure - big pillars, ancient staircase, old tombs and temples.

Entry ticket price: 30 taka

The renovation work of the Directorate of Archeology is still ongoing. The museum has been set up on the second floor of the palace. Two iron chests used by the Rajbari and several interesting archaeological materials from Paharpur in Naogaon are kept there. I saw renovation work going on at Rani Ghat. When all the works are completed, this palace will also become one of the most visited places in Rajshahi.

One of the finest experiences of anesthetic mughal culture. I think it could be maintained much better through cutting-edge restoration techniques. Overall, it provides a holisitic view of the Puthia Raj family in the earlier 17th century

A wonderful monument for showcasing ancient art and artifacts. A perfect combination of legacy, culture and art.
The old building does have a magnificent combination of Greek and wester architecture altogether.
The Hari Mandir next to the Rajbari worthy watching..

I was astonished to see such a beautiful palace, which had many difficult designs that gave an aesthetic look.

You can understand how the kings move and their activities. It will be interesting to see how they have preserved the ancient structure in such a beautiful way. Once you visit the place, many questions will arise in your mind and you can find out the answers yourself

Its a big area. As like as kings place. The temple was very nice. Architectural beauty was amazed me. But when I shoot this photo of temple with water reflection in pond, surprisingly the sky was too clear with white clouds. I was really too much happy that time. I spent very meaningful time there with my tour mates.

Initially, Puthia was a village of Laskarpur Pargana, named after Laskar Khan Nilamber, the brother of the first zamindar of Puthia, who was the first to receive the title of Raja from the Mughal emperor Jahangir. A partition of the estate took place in 1744 and the zamindari was divided among 4 co shares among whom the panch ani (five annas) and char ani (four annas) co-shares become famous in conducting jamindary.

Puthia Rajbari is surrounded by ditches. The south end of an open field is where panch ani palace is situated. 4.31 acres of land was used for the Rajbari. The once strong walls surrounding the place are now damaged in places. The rajbari is divided into 4 courts :

Kachhari (office) Angan (court)

Mandir angan or Gobindabari (temple court)

Andar Mahal (inner quarters)

Residence of Maharani Hemanti Kumari

The rooms are built around the courts in the palace, with the exception of the Kachari Angan, the courts are one storeyed. Kachari Angan has porticos on both the west and east ends which project in the Palladian manner. The west entrance gate leads to Kachari Angan while the other leads to Temple or Gobindabari courts. Each portico is supported by 4 semi-Corinthian columns rising the full height of the building. The porticos contain arcaded, semi-glazed loggias at the first floor level. The building's central portion, between the porticos, continues the columned theme and also has a loggia at first floor level. Also here the 4 semi Corinthian pillars cover the upper parts of the building. A wooden staircase leads to the upper floor on the east side. There are three rooms of different size, two of which were used as treasuries. The other side, (Western) has 4 rooms with two verandahs. Close to Govindabari, there are two small rooms with verandah. Now, most of the rooms built on the east and south of Kachari Angan are at ruins.

The northern block of the building with east–west axis is double storeyed and has a wide hall of 21.95m x 7.16m. The upper storeyed portion has six variously announced rooms. In front of the hall there is a wide verandah with balconies on either side. The Pancharatna Bara Gobinda temple is located at the Gobindabari of this palace. The temple is beautifully ornamented with terracotta carvings. There are two rooms and several bathrooms in the western part of Andar Mahal. Most of the rooms in the court in western part of Andar Mahal are in ruins. In the eastern part of Ander Mahal there is one storeyed residence of Rani Hemanta Kumari. It has a porch in front of it and a central reception hall with nine rooms. There are extended verandahs with arches in front and rear of the hall room. Iron and wooden beams have been used in the roof.
