Dhanbari Mosque a historic architectural relic at Dhanbari upazila in Tangail district. Mughal generals Ispinjar Khan and Manawar Khan esatablished their zamindari at Dhanbari after defeating Dhanapati Singh during the reign of Mughal emperor Jahangir. The mosque is not dated by any inscription. But the archaeologists assume that it was built during the time of Jahangir.

The mosque stands on the peripheral side of the Dhanbari Nawab Manzil on the bank of the dighi. Built in Mughal style, the mosque has been renovated several times. It is a three-domed mosque with a minaret built on around 10 kathas of land.The length and breadth of the mosque was originally 13.72m and 4.57m respectively. But after renovation its shape had been changed to a square building, clearly a deviation from the traditional three-domed rectangular Mughal mosque.

The mosque has three multi groove arched entrances on the east wall. Besides, there are two entrances each on its north and south wall. Though the mosque had been renovated several times, its domes and entrances still bear the characteristics of their antiquity. There are three mihrabs on the qibla wall in alignment with the three front doorways. The octagonal niche of the central mihrab is decorated with multi grooves arch with flower motives. The two side mihrabs are also multi groove but devoid of decoration. Beside the central mihrab stands a mimbar. The interior of the mosque is decorated with chini-tikri mosaic having floral patterns in most cases.

Adjacent to the mosque there is a walled up old graveyard covering an area of about half a bigha of land. Nawab Ali Chowdhury (1863-1929), zamindar of Dhanbari, expanded the mosque and gave it a modern look. The mosque is now accommodating around 200 Muslims in prayer. [Khan Mahbub]

The mosque is also on the outside of the wall with cement and hard stone curtain designs. Before the renovation, the mosque was rectangular. General Chat Chat LoungAt that time it was 5.12 meters (5 feet) and width was 1.5 meters (5 feet), but after the renovation, the mosque changed in size. It is in stark contrast to a square mosque and a rectangular Mughal mosque with a simple three-domed rectangle. General Chat Chat LoungAlthough the mosque's antiquity has disappeared somewhat after the renovation, its splendor and beauty have increased. On the east side of the mosque are three arched arches with many notches, as well as a further five entrances to the north and south. General Chat Chat LoungThere are 3 small and large domes. The height of each of the 4 large minarets is about 6 feet high. The mosque's bronze tower is about 4 feet high. The mosque's 6-foot-high and 3-foot-wide arches are attractive and picturesque. General Chat Chat LoungOne of the unique features of Imam Khutba Lesson Mosque sitting here is that the height of the copper moon minarets on the top of a towering 5-foot-tall minaret further enhances the beauty of the mosque. Which was used in the light work by coconut oil. There are also six bushes used during the Mughal period. General Chat Chat LoungLime, sawdust, white cement, hard stone, iron envelope etc. have been used in the construction of the mosque. Beside this mosque, there are Shan Bandhan Ghats and Cemetery. Where Nawab Bahadur Syed Nawab Ali Chowdhury was buried. A large dighi with a size of 1 bigha is located beside the mosque. Nawab Nawab Ali visited his state before his death. General Chat Chat LoungThe mosque and the adjoining madrasas, Eidgahs etc. are being operated by a well-known property. The old mosque has a system of offering prayers of 25 Muslims together. I loved it. The interior and exterior design is so classy and elegant.

Quran recitation has been going on for 92 years in Dhanbari Nawab Shahi Jame Mosque. Natural disasters, wars, political instability have happened a lot in these nine decades. But the recitation of this Qur'an did not stop. One fell down and the other was sitting with the Qur'an. The recitation of the Qur'an goes on all the time except during prayers.

Locals call Dhanbari Nawab Manzil Nawab Bari . The descendants of Nawab Ali Chowdhury now hold it. They have maintained this palace and created additional cottages for tourists to stay in. Our only heritage resort in Bangladesh.
Dhanbari Royal Resort. The inside is neat and clean, with enough of items and guards to keep everything safe.

They didn’t have to leave the nation because their Muslim landlords owned it. They ruled for a long time. They are still powerful in that area currently. That’s why this mansion is still in excellent condition and has been well maintained.

Nawab Ali Chowdhury built this residence in 1919 to host Lord Ronaldshay. He arrived by steamer near Koyra and was greeted by 30 elephants.

During East Pakistan’s tenure, Nawab Hasan Ali Chowdhury was the Industrial Minister. He was also an MP in 1978. His daughter Saiyeda Asheka Akbar served in the Parliament after his death in 1981. This information reveals their authority and explains why the palace is still in good condition.

Entry Fee:

To visit the palace grounds, you must purchase a 30 Taka ticket. Each ticket is good for 2 hours. The location is really safe and the staff and guards are very friendly.

It's good looking. Quality architecture. Area of the mosque is not abroad, but it's beautiful.

Beautiful Masjid

Nawab shahi jame mosque is a very beautiful mosque at Dhanbari. It is situated at east side of Nawab Palace. There is also a Graveyard of Nawab family here.

Almost 700 years. Need to be declared as heritage by the authority.

One of the oldest beautiful Mosque in our Country

This Mosque is nicely decorated with valuable stones, and it is said that, all the labourers, who worked for the mosque, had to give their 10 fingers willingly keeping a smile in their lips. This great mosque has many mysterious story, people also believe that, every wish to Almighty "Allah" from soul becomes true as a dua through this mosque.

The behavior of the Imam and other staff was satisfactory. The environment is very clean. The surrounding is very beautiful and friendly. Interesting historical artefacts to be explored.
