Friendly staff. Extensive range of frozen meals and dishes, and every kind of ingredient, sweet and snack food imaginable, including some novel drinks that not all Indian stores have. Good range of fresh paneer and yoghurt.

Friendly staff, great service, variety of products. They're happy to source products in case they don't have an item on shelf that we need! 5 stars just for Santhosh's exceptional customer service.

Everything from India is available here at good prices. The owner is there himself to answer to any questions that you may have. It's nice to actually interact with the business owner of a business, unlike these days in mist grocery stores where there's no real people but just a corporate entity. I support small family businesses.

So it was Sunday evening, the day before Divali. I was working, but I dived out from work as I needed a few Indian groceries in a hurry, essentials and things I'd been trying to track down (specifically, my South Indian pantry staple, dried buttermilk chillies.)
I was in a hurry and drove across to Santosh, a bit off my beaten track. Had not been there for many months.
There were a few people in store doing their last minute Divali buys, relatively busy. I dashed around, grabbed my supplies, waited in line.
And of course, I'd forgotten my wallet. Left it at home.
And here's the thing: When is the last time - especially in Australia - that a shopkeeper who does not know you from a bar of soap said to you.. "That's okay, sir (or other), you can come back and pay me tomorrow." ???
Hallelujah!
Maybe he picked up that this old guy was exhausted, frazzled and down (about my doggy's cancer diagnosis, but that's another tale).
In any event, it was an unexpected and classy random-act-of-kindness that brought back to me what I regard as the best of the Indian culture, trust.
And reminding me to try and drop my cloak of cynicism.
So this is not a review of the material/commercial part of the store. Yes, they had everything on my rather obscure list, the prices are fine, it is open late and it ticks all those other boxes.
I did not take him up on his offer, but went back the next day to pick up my supplies and more. And to tell him that his trust had touched me to my core and that I would do this:
Write Santhosh Indian Groceries a five-star review and tell you all that sometimes it's not *what* is in the shop but *who*.
which can turn a mundane shopping run into a memorable experience.

Enjoyed my shop there this evening. The store is getting stocked up by the week and their range is pretty vast...more importantly it has stuff from up North to down South. The service was great and friendly. Today I enjoyed the frozen section which had a wide range of Haldiram's and Deep's goodies....Clean, spacious and attentive staff...definitely worth a visit.

I have been going to Santhosh for the past few months now and always found everything i needed . Would like to make a special mention to our main guy (SANTHOSH ) at the shop who always goes above and beyond to service his customers with all their needs . The best part about this particular store compared to other stores i have been to, he never shy's away from trying new products which makes you want to come regularly to check out what's new in store . Please do try out the Cassata and Rose Milk he has currently stocked they are absolutely phenomenal .

This Indian grocery store in Mitcham is the best thing happened to the Indian community living in or around this suburb. They have got most of the items available, you just name it for your Indian taste buds or needs.

To top it off the customer service provided by Santosh and team is excellent. He loves to talk, make recommendations and give tips about products or items you might not know. Truly a hardworking guy and tries his best to fulfill all the requests.

I used to hate the old management and specially that girl who was always on mobile or on a call, she didn't cared about customers, customer service or the business itself. Once there was a bag of moong dal lying on floor and shelf was empty. She bluntly said check next week n I went back opened the bag, got what I needed and she was like you were saying it was not on shelf, n I was like God Save me 😡😡

Keep up the good work Santosh and team, the shop looks so great since you guys took over.

From Parle-G to Pudin Hara you will find most well-loved Indian products here. And if you don't find something, just mention your need and he does a good job of taking notes and getting stocked up for you. Great customer service and very friendly/courteous staff. (Very different from the previous management of the store)
