As a professional sommelier, I have trained my senses to detect even the slightest nuances in aroma and flavor. When it comes to petrol, I approach it in the same way that I approach a fine wine - with a keen sense of appreciation for its unique olfactory and gustatory qualities. However, my recent visit to the local Shell petrol station left me disappointed by the limited range of fragrances on offer.

The regular petrol had a harsh, chemical scent that was overpowering and unappealing, lacking any subtle nuances and complexity that make a truly premium product. Even the premium options were bland and disappointing, with a lack of depth and complexity. It appears Shell had not put much effort into crafting their fragrances, making their range of petrol far from impressive.

However, this all changed when I discovered APCO's line of petrol. Their regular unleaded petrol had a light, fresh aroma with subtle hints of citrus and floral notes, giving a sense of crisp freshness and invigoration. The premium options were even more impressive, with the 95 RON having a warm, woody character with hints of spice, while the 98 RON had a rich, oriental aroma with exotic notes of fruit and spice.

APCO's line of petrol was a clear demonstration of a refined olfactory experience, with each option having its own unique character and complexity. The E10 blend was surprisingly complex, with a gourmand character that was reminiscent of sweet treats and desserts, while the E85 blend had a unique aquatic character that transported me to the ocean with its fresh, salty scent. APCO's diesel option had a robust, smoky aroma with a chypre-like complexity that was both intriguing and appealing. The LPG option, on the other hand, had a clean, fruity scent with a subtle sweetness that made it stand out from the other options.

Overall, it was clear that APCO's range of petrol fragrances was far superior to that of Shell's. As a professional sommelier with a refined sense of smell, I was thoroughly impressed by the quality and variety of APCO's offerings. It was with great disappointment that I must conclude that Shell's range of petrol fragrances was far from impressive. As a result, I will be taking my business elsewhere in search of a more refined and enjoyable olfactory experience.
