I’m a tiny yarn shop owner from England. While visiting our son in Melbourne, we looked up this fabulous little yarn paradise😇. Outstanding, yarn selection, fabulous interior and displays, super staff, enthusiastic in their work, incredibly knowledgeable and a sheer pleasure to chat with😊. I’ve been back twice and stocked up with all sorts of delights…..

Gorgeous selection of yarn and tools/accessories. Good vibes - people are approachable and very helpful but also happy to let you browse in peace.

I discovered this store online quite by accident while looking for The Knitting Barber cords. Their price was competitive and they had them in stock. I received an email when one colour was out of stock (not a problem to swap out) followed by a very friendly phone call. The parcel arrived beautifully packaged along with a cute envelope of stitch markers. I look forward to placing another order in the future.

I seldom write Google reviews but had to jump on here to review this wonderful store. I visited a week ago and have been thinking about the incredible service ever since! The staff were all friendly and happy to let me wander. The woman who helped me was so lovely, warm and encouraging. She took the time to help me find a pattern online that suited the yarn I wanted, and sat with me and showed me a new technique, as well as how to use the advanced search function on Ravelry effectively. Such a nice experience, as a beginner knitter I felt VERY well taken care of. I drove out of my way to visit Maker Maker based on the reviews here, and I will continue to do so!

Charming place for yarn addicts of all types. Helpful staff, cool vibe, plus all the pretty yarns you can get. I find myself coming back here more often than my wallet allows me 🙈

Beautiful wools and yarns, unique and varied equipment. Emily has a wealth of knowledge about the entire industry from sheep to shawl and imparts it generously. The store has a wonderful vibe. Great place to just meet and knit.

This place is very nice. Staff is so friendly. There are a lot of hand-dye yarn for making socks as well as any garment. They have a diverse of brands: bellissimo, kiwi, yarn from New Zealand, UK, ... I am so impressed on their hand-dye yarn types which are made from various material. When you think about making something with hand-dye yarn, you should go here to check.

Visiting Melbourne from nz I was keen to checkout Australian yarn. These guys have an amazing selection of independent yarn dyers from Australia, NZ and beyond. Easy to get to on the tram from city centre.

An absolutely fantastic yarn store: beautiful selection of the most gorgeous yarn, and always super helpful & encouraging & enthusiastic staff! They are always keen to know what my teenager is knitting / crocheting and admire her projects 💙🧶

Even when I walk into a mediocre yarn shop, I feel like a kid in a candy store. But walking into Maker Maker makes me absolutely giddy! Not only are the yarns mesmerisingly beautiful, but the staff walk the line perfectly between being available to help and happy to let you wander.

I've been able to lean on the staff for advice on projects, yarn and needles on more than one occasion, and they've never led me astray. It's a very welcoming environment and suits both experts and newbie's alike.

I'll soon be moving out of the area. However, I will definitely be making the trip back to visit Maker Maker on a regular basis!

The person who helped me had a genuine working knowledge of the yarn in the store - she was able to talk me through which skeins would have a subtle vs less subtle mottling when they were worked up across three different brands. I was really impressed and it was a lovely experience. I'd highly recommend Maker Maker as a knitting and crochet store.

This store is nothing short of amazing!!! I went in yesterday as a first time customer to purchase some wool and ask how to attach a new colour of wool to my granny sqaure (I am a complete beginner!) and Emily took time out of her day to sit down and help me and even taught me how to do a slip knot which I had no idea how to do!!! Emily, the owner, is always happy to help with any questions, whether it's choosing yarn for a new project or fixing mistakes with an existing one. You can be sure that any products bought from her store are ethically sourced and supporting local producers where possible. Her shop is so cozy and welcoming - make sure you budget time to stay much longer than you intended!

What a beautiful store with a carefully curated, ever increasing selection of yarn. The store has a wonderful relaxed feeling with a table and chairs to sit and knit/crochet! Emily is extremely helpful, experienced, knowledgeable and passionate about yarny goodness. This has become my go-to yarn store in Melbourne for anything yarn related, pattern advice, colour inspiration and catch-ups with like-minded people!

Hands down the best knitting/crochet shop in Melbourne. The yarns Em sources are delicious and terribly addictive. She and her staff are always so welcoming and take the time to set you up properly for whatever project you have in mind. Wonderful store to buy all your knitting and crochet needs. I've always wanted to learn how to knit and crochet and I've been able to take lessons and join social knitting sessions here at Maker Maker. Emily is such a great teacher. Great atmosphere and lots of locally sourced wool in amazing colours.

A wonderful shop to visit. Always stocked with beautiful yarns, both local and some international brands as well. I can always find inspiration here, as well everything else I need for my knitting projects. The service excellent and the staff are always professional, friendly, efficient and very knowledgeable.
