Heads and Tales Bookstore

This place makes me want to move from Tassie to Barwon Heads… or at least holiday here regularly! The most beautiful bookstore, with such lovely staff!
Popped in while here for Christmas and could have easily completed all of the Christmas shopping here.
Amazing options for kids books! Well done on creating a little gem! My 2 year old read the ‘Chomp Chomp Chomp’ crocodile book in the pram the whole walk home.

Absolutely love this light-filled, glorious bookstore in the heart of Barwon Heads! They have a particularly wonderful youth-literature section (picture-books, junior fiction, middle grade and young adult!). If this is your local then you’re very lucky as owners and booksellers - Emma & Bella are so knowledgeable and helpful! - and if you’re just passing through as a holiday-maker or out-of-Towner, it’s well worth a visit to stock up on goodies! Amazing staff, gorgeous location, fantastic selection.

This must be the best book shop in Australia - such friendly service, all with extraordinary knowledge on all types of books - highly highly recommend.

Fantastic selection of books and beautifully presented, making it easy to browse. The helpful tips from Emma and Bella made the tough business of narrowing down which books to buy easier. I could happily spend hours in there!

This is like a magical bookshop conjured in a dream. Beautiful space, great people, and a carefully chosen and smart collection of books. An incredible addition to the village.

The best bookstore on the Surf Coast!!

This bookshop is magical… being able to browse books like this is a rarity, it’s set out well and you can always find something to read. Unfortunately I want to love and support the store but I have had multiple interactions with staff while buying books where they have been dismissive and the last time I got a book (23/3/24) the lady at the checkout didn’t say one word to me while continuing a conversation with someone else. Please be more polite to customers- I want to support you but can’t when exchanges are rude like that.
