A Melbourne institution, busy for all the right reasons. Great service. Ordered the Rosé Champagne, Orange wine, saganaki with figs, and steak tartare. Delicious.

Fairly quiet for a Friday but staff were attentive and as usual chatty and polite.
We took our 4&5yo for the first time, we’ve been many times and knew portion sizes were generous so one gnocchi main to share for the kids and 4-5 starters and a shared main for two adults was plenty of food.
Wines on point as always.

Part of a series of Melbourne institutions - The European, Siglo and of course City Wine Shop. Always great service, brilliant wine offerings, so very tasty food and a terrific atmosphere. Perfect place for catching up with friends or that all important business meeting to seal the deal!

This is a great destination if you are looking for interesting or special wine and food is always delicious too. We had a bottle of Champagne and steak tartar as well as kingfish. Loved the tartar - very traditional and absolutely scrumptious. We always enjoy stopping in here for a glass at least, the atmosphere is very European - must visit if you are in Melbourne and into wine...

Amazing wine bar and restaurant, which is also a bottle shop. We had some of the most amazing food and wine recommendations, and great service. Ryan the sommelier was very helpful and shared a lot of good recommendations!

Amazing selection of wines and all very affordable! Even bought a bottle to takeaway.

I got a table for one on a Friday evening as was travelling alone; it's a fantastic people watching spot.

We had a wonderful time celebrating our anniversary. Alex recommended a magnificent Shiraz for the special occasion . The lemon tart was so good we had to order a second for desert.

Awesome seasonal food with extensive wine list. One can expect quality, attentiveness and a good time at this joint. I have visited this place for the third time and will be back for more.

Great ambience with old school charm and antique interior. The seating for City Wine Shop is combined with The European.

Siglo and The Melbourne Supper Club are upstairs, which makes a great transition to lounge and chill out at night. You can also finish off with gelato next door at Spring Street Grocer.

To me, these joints make an essential Melbourne experience.

P.S. The ox tongue was particularly special and noteworthy. Also the cod roe crumpet!

Love this place to catch up with friends, business meetings or just yourself has everything you could want, staff are great and could tell you anything about the wines and food on offer and super friendly always get the polenta chips, it’s a must!

Great place to buy some quality wine then sit outside in the sun and have very professional table service!
Will be back!
Plus food comes from the European kitchen next door, so win win !

Update 19 March 2021 - there is a new indoor water who charged me double the price for a takeaway bottle of wine. Lucky I asked for a receipt! This has never happened before.

This is still one of my favourite places in Melbs, despite the fact that I haven't reviewed this place recently.

The service is excellent, friendly and welcoming.

I ordered a spritzer for the first time and it was yummy, and my partners orange wine was delish! The food here is fantastic, and the wine is always special.

This is a great place for people watching too. Oh happy days!

This is the place to go for a quiet drink. I love to sit here and people watch as the people walking past are so eclectic.

The service here is friendly and efficient and the food comes from the European kitchen for a fraction of the price. I've been here a number of times over the years, and this is one of my favourite Melbourne institutions.

The wine list is amazing, simple but with some great quality wines as you'd expect. And you can grab a bottle of wine or beer to take home, and best of all this place is open till late.

One of the best ways to spend a lazy afternoon.

Would recommend the schnitzel and gnocchi. Great food and service. Quite dark inside and cosy.

Cozy atmosphere with delicious food! Wine store with some spots to dine in. Very interesting place, high stools, communal table or outside tables, you can choose what fits better for you! Great variety of wine. You can choose one bottle from the store for a good price but you pay an extra to have it with dinner. The food menu is not extensive but everything I had was delicious!!!!

An old favourite for me in Melbourne. European bistro style vibes. You get a cute well stocked wine shop with great wine options and amazing food whether you after some nibbles, main or dessert. The level of service is good and there is outdoor seating which means it's dog friendly 😊

One of my fav wine shop in town. They have great food plus a very decent range of wine stocked up. The staff is very knowledgeable and patiently helped me choosing four bottles of red on Saturday. Just finished one of them and it’s delicious!! I just love this cosy little wine cellar!!
