If you are in Byron, you have to do this snorkelling tour. Glenn and Montana were amazing at navigating the boat but also showing us and finding some amazing animals. We went on a quite a windy day with lots of waves but once in the water it was so peaceful. We saw eagle rays, fan tail/ blotches rays, many species of amazing colourful fish, turtles and so many leopard sharks! Everywhere you looked you could spot one. I will definitely be doing this tour again, and I recommend it to anyone who wants to see the underwater wildlife that byron has to offer.

We had a great morning tour with our guide Glenn and encountered many whales during the trip. They are truly majestic animals and would recommend the tour with Wild Byron. The boat was comfortable and felt intimate with 12 passengers on board. Glenn was very knowledgeable with his commentary and we appreciated his jokes too!

Went for the Jurien Rock snorkelling tour and everything was perfect, from the team, to the marine wildlife. Got to see leopard sharks, grey nurse, eagle rays, turtles and fish from every sizes. Water is less clear than the Great Barrier Reef of course, but wildlife is just 100 times better. Best spot ever seen in Australia. Thanks Glenn I will recommend you to all my friends passing through Byron Bay.

Two of us joined the Wild Byron tours to go snorkelling at Julian Rocks. Our tour guides were excellent, and gave us the experience of a lifetime. On the boat ride over, we saw dolphins splashing through the water. At the rocks, we were treated to seeing several species of fish, sharks, turtle and stingray. I even got stung by a bluebottle jellyfish in the face! I wouldn’t recommend voluntarily doing so because of the stinging pain, but it was definitely an experience I won’t forget! I would also highly recommend using the wetsuits they offer, as it does offer warmth and skin protection. Thank you so much to Wild Byron!

Despite perfect weather the conditions for our snorkeling trip were less than ideal. Poor visibility and strong currents. There were six youngish kids on the tour. Glenn was super professional and ended the tour when it was obvious the conditions were challenging. He kindly offered a full refund or reschedule. Highly recommend this business. Lots of integrity, friendly and professional.

I’ve been whale watching with Wild Byron Sea Safaris 3 times already this whale season. I CANNOT GET ENOUGH!

Glen is awesome at what he does and has provided me with some of the most magnificent encounters with the humpbacks migrating! He is very educated around all marine animals and provided lots of information about lots of ocean life in a really fun way throughout the whale watching cruise. Glen was also extremely respectful towards all marine animals and provided the most peaceful and comfortable encounter, always respecting the animals whilst keeping the boat at a safe distance, but the whales felt so comfortable they came right near the boat anyway it was incredible!

I’ve also been lucky enough to see turtles, sharks and had dolphins playing in the waves created by the boat, but having whales come right up to the boat, breaching near enough to see their beauty and power, that has to be my favourite part of this experience.

Whether you’re solo and a wildlife lover /photographer, a couple or family wanting an adventure I honestly could not recommend this experience more highly.
10/10 and I’ll be going again!!!

Glen and Laura were wonderful hosts. We went on their snorkelling tour 3 days in a row that is how much we loved them. Glen was a super experienced skipper, navigating through the swell and waves like a pro and always on the look out for turtles and other wildlife in case the boat disturbed them. Laura was knowledgeable of all the wildlife and ecological status of the marine system at Julian Rocks. The boat is equipped with life jackets and pool noodles and masks. Patrons can wash their gear after the trip which is handy too! Thanks guys! See you soon!! Photos: IG @peeedah

Jumped on their sunset Whale Watching tour and had an absolute blast! Really friendly and knowledgeable guides and they were super respectful of the whales space and making sure interactions were on their terms. Highly recommended and looking forward to jumping on again later in the season!

If i could give more than five stars i would do 1000, the staff on this small boating tour are by far the kindest people you will ever meet. Victoria is a bundle of positivity, Glen is the best with his fun and positive attitude and Seamus really kind. All rounder great team, went with them twice this week and they made me have the best trip to Byron ever. Thank you guys again!!

We had so much fun snorkelling at Julian Rocks with Wild Byron. Glenn and Seamus were friendly and knowledgeable hosts, and Glenn made sure no one missed out on seeing all the cool underwater creatures. We saw leopard sharks, nurse sharks, rays, a green turtle and a massive loggerhead turtle too, as well as so many fish. We would definitely reccomend Wild Byron and can't wait to come back!

December 2021 - We had a great experience snorkeling with Glen and Laura at Julian Rocks. I was with my 7 year old daughter who I had given this as a birthday gift. This day was big choppy but Glen navigated the waters quite well and kept a keen eye on everyone of us making sure we all are safe.

Laura was very helpful too. My daughter was scared looking at the big waves but Laura comforted her throughout the trip and helped her see a turtle, leopard shark and other magnificent marine life forms.

We are planning a trip again with Wild Byron and would highly recommend them with utmost confidence.

Glenn is an absolute legend. We had bad conditions and he cancelled the trip when many other operators would have carried on and put guests in danger (or at least have given them a bad time). Prioritised customer experience over money, which makes for good business in the end. We still managed to see a turtle. Would go back on a trip with WB in a heartbeat.

These guys are amazing! Such an enjoyable experience from the beginning to the end. Laura is sweet, friendly and very helpful. We love it!

Ask questions! They have so much knowledge to share about the gentle giants. We couldn’t recommend them enough.

Absolutely incredible trip with knowledgeable, professional and funny hosts from start to finish! Lucky for us we spotted whales as soon as we left the marina, and boy did they put on a show! Our skipper Glenn made sure he gave them space and we got to see a Mother and week old calf cruising along and suddenly the mother was doing impressive breaches out of the water. Magical. The boat was super comfy and Glenn was really easy to be around and made the trip extra fun with his jokes and knowledge. I forgot to mention, before we went aboard we were given a safety briefing with Scotty who informed us about safety on the boat and also gave us lots of interesting information about the humpbacks. Overall, I could not recommend this trip highly enough. In fact, I am going to try to go again before whale season ends!

The skipper was a little soft spoken at first but quickly warmed up and had a lot of funny jokes. I saw a bunch of whales breach. The boat is super fast with great views of the water. The skipper is very knowledgeable and even had tea and cookies for us half way through. 10/10 experience. Worth every penny!

JUST GO!!

Don’t waste your time researching other tours, pick this one!!

Glen is a complete whale expert. He is so knowledgeable and happy to answer any of your whale questions.

Glen ensured everyone felt really comfortable during the tour so if you have any reservations about the boat journey itself, no need to worry.

Even aside from the wildlife the boat trip itself is super fun. Other tours leave from Ballina but Glen leaves from Brunswick which is a shorter drive from Byron.

Thank you Glen, we’ll be back!

We had an incredible experience whale watching with Glen. We saw whales within 5 minutes of getting into the open ocean and the tour just got better and better from there. Glen, our skipper and guide, was extremely knowledgeable and shared lots of interesting information about the whales, their behaviour, and their migration habits. We were also lucky to see a hammerhead shark and a loggerhead turtle, and a pod of dolphins swam with the boat which was magical. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Wild Byron.
