Food is good with a mild taste. Service very good. Sitting by the restroom is a bit disappointed but better than no table to dine.

Somehow when I turned around the napkin there's a soba sticks on it and has been dry. I don't think it's me putting there.

We dine here couple of times with friends, and food are always fresh. Reasonably priced for its place and ambience being in a great and quiet location at QVB. Staffs are friendly, great service. A very nice and cozy place to bring friends and family. By the way, their coffee is very nice too. I don’t drink coffee myself, but the barista here makes very good coffee. Will definite be back.

We have been here a few times when we travel down to Sydney from the Gold coast and we will always keep coming back here each Sydney trip! The food is so fresh, generous serving sizes and reasonable prices for the quality of the sashimi. The service here is unparalleled. I've never had waitresses be so sensitive to wanting to reorder or ask for various things. The inside of the restaurant is so beautiful as well. I enjoy the sake selection provided. I can't recommend Yama enough!

Really good food, staff were very friendly and accommodating. The atmosphere were really great. Overall had a great experience, it was peaceful, casual, and perfect. Would recommend it to everyone for corporate meetings or just casual family and friends dining.

Best Bento box I've had. Sashimi was super fresh, and the tempura was amazing. I would go back just for tempura and skip sashimi and sushi.

I decided to try this place from a recommendation. I was not disappointed at all! The food was fresh and delicious with plenty of unique dishes you would not normally find in most Japanese restaurants.

The waitstaff were friendly and very accommodating and the restaurant bright and spacious.

Make sure you save room for dessert as the mini Japanese cheesecake is incredible!

We had a wonderful lunch here today. All the staff were friendly and attentive and the food was perfect. Everything was fresh, delicious and beautifully presented. Just wished we lived closer so we could make it a regular visit. We will be back though. Thank you for a great dining experience.

Portion was good enough, just the rice it self it is just normal rice but not japanese pearl rice. Some rice is hardern. Unagi taste good and chicken katsudon as well as the prawn tempura .

Sashimi dish is brilliant. The Bento is good too. The soba is entirely different from what we have in Canada but taste ok. Delightful experience.

This cafe is on L2, so you get good views of QVB. Authentic Japanese food served here. We had Edamame which was like everywhere else but the Assorted Sashimi Chilli Don. This dish was refreshing and the chilli was so good on the rice and fish!

What's not to love at Yama! Great decor, relaxed atmosphere with prompt and kind service. The fish kushiyaki were cooked perfectly and the kaarage don was light and well balanced. Great experience all round 🙂

Beautiful authentic Japanese cuisine, we've ordered lots of dishes including sashimi, sushi, tempuras and drinks. To our surprise it was only $35 per person, we definitely expect to pay much more for good quality Japanese food. Good for catching with friends, and definitely kids/baby friendly.

Delicious, authentic Japanese food of the highest quality at reasonable prices. The staff really went above and beyond to give us a wonderful experience. Highly recommend.

An absolute hidden gem. Had the dinner course menu and the quality of food, presentation and service was on par with the best fine dining restaurants in the cbd. Restaurant was freshly renovated and they had a great selection of wines, sakes and an impressive range of high quality organic teas. Favourite dishes were the slow cooked pork belly, miso glazed eggplant, scallops and the humble miso soup. Great broth! Will be back!

Situated in the QVB, this is a real gem. They have great customer service and delicious food. They are also partnered with Citibank Dining so you can get a complimentary bottle of wine if you pay with your Citibank card.

Great service and interesting modern Japanese food. Located on the top level in the corner towards Wynyard, the food is not traditional yet refreshing.

Note that it is a bit pricey though

I've not had great Japanese food for a long time until I discovered Yama by chance. Top notch sashimi and sushi and Wagyu beef that's so tender, I only needed chopsticks!
